Story
Meet Diesel! This fun 2 year old "pitsky" is still just an overgrown puppy at heart. "Too much dog" for most people, he is probably smarter, faster, and more athletic than you and knows it, and has a great sense of humor about it. He responds well to training and knows his commands but likes to test to see what he can get away with. He likes to play rough with other dogs and can be overwhelming for most dogs but would be a fun playmate for a big girl dog who likes to wrestle and chase him but still can hold her own and let him know she's the boss. He loves to bark in the face of his best doggie friend at the shelter until she yells back at him and then poke her and run away laughing like a misbehaving toddler. He's been on overnights in the past with staff members and was well-behaved and enjoyed spending time in a home, and we would love for him to get back into a real home soon! If you want a hilarious goofy best friend that will keep you on your toes, please submit an application to meet our resident class clown, Diesel Primary Color: Tri Color Weight: 52 Age: 2yrs 5mths 2wks

Story
Benji is a uniquely adorable mixed breed, a very interesting "accidental" combination between a husky mom and a shih tzu/pomeranian dad. But he looks more like a giant Westie, 42lbs full grown and a little over a year old. With his expressive eyes, scruffy whiskers and alert quizzical expressions, he looks like he should be a movie star but he is more of an introvert and wouldn't enjoy the well-deserved fame. He wasn't socialized much outside of his previous household so is a very skittish guy with new people and situations. But once he feels safe and comfortable he's a sweet playful guy, still a puppy at heart. He loves other dogs and feels much safer in their presence, so a home with another doggie buddy is a must for him to feel safe. He does shed and would not be suitable for allergy sufferers, and has been neutered and updated on shots. Please submit an application to meet him Primary Color: White Weight: 42 Age: 1yrs 6mths 1wks

Story
Meet Ghoat. He’s being fostered in east TN. Out of state welcome for additional fee. We transport to the Greta lakes and northeast areas east areas. We use rescue riders for all our pet transport needs. Ghost had a home but unfortunately his owner could not longer care for him. He’s a really sweet pup. He loves attention and will come rest his head on your lap for petting and ear scratches. He gets along with most all other dogs big and small young or old. He is very playful and has lots of energy. He seems to be a husky mix. He has the curled husky tail and the coat of a medium coated husky but he also looks like he could be mixed with another breed. He’s not very big and only around 45 lbs. he’s a year old so he should not get much bigger. He probably will top out around 50-55 lbs. he is crate trained and house trained and walks well on a leash. He is a just a little shy when meeting new people and it doesn’t take long for him to warm up. He is one smart and sweet pup!

Story
Frida (female), and her siblings were picked up by a kind woman after their mom was hit by a car.  The puppies were just a few days old so she bottle fed them around the clock, kept them warm and safe and managed to save them.   As of mid-March they are estimated to be about 7 months old and weigh about 30 lbs.     They are believed to be husky mixes (a male husky roams around neighborhood) but their mother was small to medium sized.  Frida is very affectionate, silly and playful, and she loves to strike a pose for the camera!  She gets along well with other dogs and children. Frida is fully vaccinated and once adopted, can hop on our next transport to the NJ area and come home to her forever home. Personality: friendly, playful, affectionate, energetic Good with: people of all ages (including kids), dogs, and cats Estimated date of birth: late August 2025 Estimated size when full grown: medium; maybe around 40 pounds Medical: vetted, vaccinated, microchipped Location: Currently located with a foster in Texas, but if adopted, will come to the NJ area on our next transport. Story
Leo is approximately 2-3 years old and currently weighs 57 pounds.  Like so many dogs, Leo's story is a sad one.  Leo spent most of his life with a caring and loving owner who regularly took him to the vet and kept him inside (which is not typical for dogs in the south).  Once Leo's owner had to move into a senior residence, he entrusted a friend to care for his beloved dog, Leo. Long story short, that "friend" kept Leo chained up outside without food and water.  You can see from one of Leo's pictures that he was skinny when he was rescued.  He was taken to a shelter, but the shelter protocol is to euthanize dogs that are there for more than 3 days.  Leo was pulled from the shelter in the nick of time.  He's been to the vet and we unfortunately found out that he was heartworm positive so we arranged and paid for his treatments. Now, we are happy to announce that Leo has finished his heartworm treatments and he is now a healthy and happy boy.  We are told that he loves meeting people and was even happy to see everyone at the vet. Leo is described as a wonderful, fairly calm boy, though he does have the occasional puppy burst of energy.  He is human and dog friendly.   He's a good boy who will sit when you ask him to.  He loves car rides and will jump right in the back seat and stay there for the trip. Please help us find Leo a new, stable home.  He must have been so confused, going from the love and safety of his original owner to being tied up and ignored outside. Personality: friendly, affectionate, fairly calm with some puppy energy, good in car Good with: people, and dogs - has not been around cats yet Training: knows the command for 'sit' Estimated date of birth: approximately 2-3 years old Weight: 57 pounds Medical: vetted, up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped Location: Currently located with a foster in Texas, but if adopted, will come to the NJ area on our next transport.  If you have any questions please email: info@ friendsforlifeanimalrescue.org To apply to adopt: https://form.jotform.com/210286667669167 We always need fosters, please join us!  https://form.jotform.com/210257395409155 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.
