You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. *This animal is a part of our “Seniors for Seniors” program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.* I just joined my foster family and we are still getting acquainted with one another. Once they learn more about me, they will add more information here! Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car – it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Expect occasional tune ups at the vet for oil changes (aka meds), and embrace the fact that those 'normal lumps and bumps' are just part of the well-earned charm package! Ruff Start will share all known health information with adopters and recommendations to keep your senior dog in top shape. Rooster is from a breeder release.  If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Cocoa (formerly Chocolate) — a big, sweet chunk of love with a gentle soul and a calm demeanor to match. At around 4 years old, this handsome Aussie is as mellow as they come, perfectly content to lounge around and soak up affection. His relaxed vibe may be partly why he’s such a solid boy—more cuddles, less cardio! Cocoa has very limited vision, if any at all, so he relies on patience, kind voices, and gentle guidance to navigate his world. He does best with a double leash outdoors and appreciates when you keep up a little conversation during walks so he always knows where you are. He walks well on leash, doesn’t pull hard, and redirects easily with a soft voice. Cocoa loves pets and is always happy to get a Milk-Bone treat or two. He’s crate-trained, will not soil his crate, and does well pottying on leash, though he’s still working on full housetraining. He can get a bit anxious if left loose and loses track of where you are, so a predictable, loving home will go a long way for him. He’s met other dogs and a cat and was politely indifferent—friendly but not overly interested. While he hasn’t been around children in his foster home, he was excited and gentle when meeting a visiting family member, showing just how kind his heart is. Cocoa is looking for a patient, loving home that understands his needs and is ready to help him feel safe and secure. In return, he’ll give you loyalty, affection, and the sweetest kind of companionship. Cocoa is from a breeder release. Story
This is one of the hardest posts I think I will ever have to write. I’m looking to rehome a big piece of my heart and our family, Finnegan Blue (Fin/Finners). He is an Australian Shepherd and will be turning 3 on June 18th. He is extremely handsome and loyal to my kids and I who are currently 9&10. His best friend is a cat, so he is good with other animals. He is very protective over us which hasn’t caused any issues other than excessive warning barks and some jumping on guests at our front door. (He’s particularly not a fan of our mailman). Fin is very energetic and loves to play with other dogs however some dogs haven’t loved fin because of his high energy. We love Fin so much but I am unable to keep him. He is house trained and is a very smart boy who loves to learn new tricks. He would thrive on a farm or with lots of land to run and play. He will come with food, dishes, indoor and outdoor kennels, along with miscellaneous items of his. He really is the best, sweetest boy!

Story
Meet Allie, a 2019 edition of a party colored Australian Shepherd x Border Collie weighing in at 42 lbs. This beautiful gal came to NWMNAR because her previous owner had to leave abroad to help take care of in-laws and could not take Allie with. Allie loves going to obedience class and showing how smart she is. Allie needs an Aussie savy owner whom can outsmart her. She is best with dogs the same size, she has prey drive towards rabbits and may not do well with cats or other smaller animals possibly including smaller tiny dogs. Allie takes time with strangers and will often back away barking. Allie has been scared of men with hats in the past. She can be a bit barky towards other dogs on walks, but has been learning to play nice. She can be dominant towards other dogs. Allie doesn't like plastic crates, but does just fine in wire crate. Allie must be crated in a vehicle otherwise she will run around in a vehicle pushing window switches until she gets out. Allie is best to go for a walk before a car ride to ensure she doesn't nervous defecate in the vehicle. Allie hides and sleeps under the bed to keep the monsters away. Allie does like to vocalize herself if she sees other dogs outside when she is gazing out the windows. She has just started to play with toys and gets groomed twice a week with a brush. Allie is available for adoption. Free adoption applications can be found on our website at: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/NMA/Dog. Because NWMNAR is not a public shelter, meet and greets do not take place until an application has been approved and a home visit has been completed in person or virtually. Meet and greets will take place in a public setting along with the adoption if compatible. Dogs can be met in Ada, MN or in our alternate office location in Maple Grove, Mn.
