Story
Odin is a 9-year old Aussie mix who's owner died. From his foster: Odin loves everyone and is a sweet gentle older boy. Even though he is a mature age of 9 Odin has energy for walks and zoomies, and can run up and down stairs like a young pup. He is still playful but also calm and well behaved. Completely potty trained and does great in a kennel although probably doesn't need one. Odin has only vocalized a couple times talking to squirrels which is a funny bay more than bark but otherwise is super quiet. Not even the delivery guys get him going! He does amazing with my resident dog and has shown zero issues with resource guarding, dominance, or aggression. Odin has been an absolute joy to foster and is just the sweetest boy, he is good in the car, did great for a bath, and I even trimmed all his nails without any fuss at all!!! Odin was born with only a partial lower jaw so often times has his tongue hanging out. Because he is missing part of his lower jaw he is a bit messier with his eating and drinking than the average dog. He is able to eat dry and wet food and take most treats without issue. We have a good system using a plate rather than bowl. We are currently working on leash walking as he is a puller but with treats and a gentle head lead, he is learning! From the Vet: Hi! My name is Odin and I would love to share some medical information we have learned from my history as well as my first exam at The Bond Between Vet Center! My jaw appears to have been congenital, but it is not at this time causing me any issues with my teeth! I do have history of seizures, however I have not had any episodes during the time I have been with my foster so the vet said I don't need any meds! My future adopter should monitor for any seizures that may appear in clusters (more than 1 per day) or a grand mal seizure lasting more than 5 minutes. Either situation may require emergency care and medication guidance with a primary vet thereafter. Hope to meet you soon and settle into my fur-ever home!

I am looking for a foster or forever family! Please email fostersupport@thebondbetween.org to sign up to foster! Select the "Apply for Adoption" if you would like to adopt Hi! My name is Anne and I am from Arkansas. From her foster: If you are looking for a lap dog who also loves a walk, look no further! Sweet Anne is a 5 yo Mini Aussie who thrives on human interaction. She loves to be loved on, and this petite princess deserves it. Her favorite thing in the whole world is cuddling, though this regal lady also enjoys a good walk and has lovely leash manners. Anne is working on getting comfortable being alone in her crate. She speaks of her displeasure for several minutes, so shared walls will be a challenge, at least initially. Anne is good with everyone, though can be a little shy when she first meets someone new. She does well with dogs, though would prefer any playmates to be more calm and chill. She prefers people to dogs. I have not seen her interact with cats, but I anticipate she would ignore them given her gentle nature. Anne would thrive in a calm and loving environment where she feels safe and included. She would love to have an adopter who is home more than not and would prefer to be with you all of the time. Anne has some mammary growths and pending dental work that will be addressed of before her adoption can be finalized. She is eating canned food right now given her current dental needs. She came into rescue a bit matted, so she was given a chic pixie trim. She looks forward to her gorgeous red merle fur growing in again. She is doing very well going potty outside, but needs someone to be a little patient and expect an accident or two when she first comes into a new environment and is learning the new schedule. She said she will also potty outside when it's raining, as long as you are outside next to her holding an umbrella. Think you may be the fairy tale home this fluffy princess is dreaming of? Apply to meet her today!

Story
If you are looking for a dog who will be your most loyal companion with striking good looks and the best puppy eyes ever ....you’ve found her!  Meet Jessica – your typical Australian Shepherd who has a zest for life! However, Jessica is not your average family dog.  Due to her high level of intelligence and energy she needs a “job” to do.  So, what kind of home would be a good fit for Miss Jessica?  A family who attends kid’s sporting events, family outings, goes camping, or hiking.  An individual who needs a brewery pal, is looking for another canine companion, needs an adventurer, or a buddy for exploring.  An athletic person who wants to train her for dock diving, Treibball, Frisbee, or agility training.  Any variety of these activities on a regular basis is going to keep Jessica a happy pup! Jessica comes to you house and crate trained, walks well on a leash, is well-behaved during car rides, and is not vocally reactive (although she may let out the occasional “awooo!” as she’s heading out the door for her morning potty break).   She is also command trained:  she knows "sit", "down", “off”, “all done” and more!  Cats are unknown, but she seems to have a low prey drive.   With all this talk about Jessica’s playful side, she does have a quiet side to her.  She is a sensitive girl and will look to you for reassurance if she’s feeling apprehensive.  She knows her bedtime and will cue you around 7:30 PM that she’s tired and ready….are you?  But no blankets at bedtime for Miss Jessica as she’s proven she can’t resist chewing on her binkies.  Oops!   Due to Jessica’s high energy needs, below is a wish list for her forever home: Herding and high-energy dogs need appropriate redirection when necessary.  Jessica’s forever owner must have the personality to be the alpha in the dog/owner relationship.  It is important that her forever home understand her needs for daily mental enrichment and physical activity.  Jessica needs to be in an active household! (see above for examples of activities) Jessica tends to show her affection by making a beeline for ears and giving love nibbles (this is a work in progress - apparently her foster’s ears are very delicious), so at this time we would recommend a household with children over 10 years old.  Preference for experience with previous herding dog breeds.             ##1954343##

My name is Sneakers and I’m approximately 3 years old. Recently I was in an accident and my eye was damaged. It has now been removed and I feel a lot better. I’m quiet girl and I love following my humans around. I’m great with other dogs and would like a doggy friend in my furever home. I haven’t met any cats yet. I also haven’t met many kids but I’m very calm and respectful of personal space so I think I would like kids. I’m house trained and I walk well on a leash. I’m crated at night and when my foster parent isn’t home but I would really like to sleep in your bed. I can be a little shy around new people and will bark at first when I meet them, but I warm up quickly. Can I complete your family? ##1986660##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.      Hello, my name is Benji! I am a very handsome young adult male Mini Aussiedoodle who doesn’t like a lot of commotion, but I love to cuddle, and I prefer women. Truth is, I am highly sensitive and reactive to ‘stranger danger’! That’s right, I react to people approaching the front door, coming into the house, and even people approaching my kennel. I know…it’s not something I’m proud of but I’m working on it…really, I am!! In fact, foster mom is trying to help me associate new people (strangers) with positive outcomes and I am confident that I will be successful in time but for now it is still a work in progress. In the meantime, mom sometimes puts a muzzle on me and although it doesn’t bother me at all I prefer, of course, not to wear it so my new family will need to commit to working with me on training. Muzzle training may make me look scary, but it allows me to safely meet and work on my training so I can be happy!  After all, consistency, patience, loving encouragement, and LOTS of mental and physical stimulation are the keys to my success!!! I am good with older kids, cats, and other dogs; and my favorite activities include going on my daily leashed walks or car rides; hiking; exploring; eating treats like plain Greek yogurt or pumpkin; playing with small squeaky toys and other dogs; chewing on Benebones; and running zoomies in the yard so the yard at my new home will need to be fenced! Hee, hee!! I also hope to have a small, confident doggie companion who might help me overcome some of my anxiety about strangers!!! By the way, I almost forgot to mention that I am a prodigy…no, really! I know everything from how to do my business outside to a deluge of commands like “sit”, “down”, “come”, “kennel/crate”, “wait”, “leave it”, “outside”, and “go potty”!! Thankfully, I enjoy learning, especially when I have a strong, confident, respectful leader, and I really love pleasing my people!! Anyway, foster mom says that I am the “most affectionate” dog she’s ever met and as hard as I try, I simply cannot disagree with her! Hee, hee!! All I need in my life now is YOU…a patient, unconditionally loving forever family who will not only NEVER give up on me but will commit to helping me overcome my fears!! I promise that not only am I totally worth it, but I will enrich your life in ways you could never imagine!!! Love, Benji Some of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. Others have come from various situations where they are lacking confidence in humans. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.   This dog has received grooming with us at Underdog Rescue, but was likely neglected of grooming attention until he came into our care.  It can sometimes take months to get their coat healthy as Doodle mixes require daily brushing.  Grooming appointments occur every 3 months and cost on average of $150 per appointment.  Adopters should be prepared for such expenses.  Underdog Rescue cannot guarantee the non-shedding or hypoallergenic qualities of this dog.    ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hey there, wonderful humans! I'm Kiwi, the pint-sized dynamo with a heart full of love and a zest for life. Let me give you the lowdown on the awesomeness that is me: Picture this – shades of brown and cream, one ear perpetually popped up, and eyes that tell stories – one blue and one brown. Yep, that's me, a young Mini Aussie turning heads wherever I go! Now, here's the thing – they say I'm a bit hard of hearing, but I've got my own language. I have a slight hearing loss due to being born with hydrocephalus.  We think I can hear deeper sounds, but not higher pitches. Silent hand claps for applause (and belly rubs, of course), gentle taps on the ribs for attention, and some cool hand signals like thumbs up for SIT and a wave for "come on down." I'm mastering the art of communication!  I am sometimes a bit unsteady on my feet and circle around when stimulated - that's some of my hydrocephalus showing.  But, there are no long term needs known at this time.  I might have some uniqueness, but it makes me special! Life's a classroom, and I'm here to soak it all in. I do require a fenced yard in my forever home AND need to be leashed in the yard until I understand when my people want me to come inside. My people said when we go on walks, it is best for me to be double leashed as I am skittish and a flight risk. She says “Safety First” before we go outside. When I meet new people, I am a little nervous and need some time to warm up. There are so many new things to see and sniff, I get a little overwhelmed. I am always excited to go home play with my toys. I have Crocky, Bunny, Mousey, Ropey and Bully – I like toys that are tuff so I can chew and chase with them. We recently started playing frisbee – I understand the chase part and we are working on the return part – hee hee! Hopefully my forever family will keep practicing with me. My people said that I am growing and learning so much – they are calling them “light bulb moments” because you can actually see it when I am excited and understand something new. They said I would be a good candidate to try out agility, fly ball or rat hunting because I am a high energy dog with an active mind. Did I mention my love for food? It's basically everything, and I'm open to culinary adventures! Except chicken, that sometime gives me tummy rumbles – ick. Also, sometimes I get crabby if there is another dog around at mealtime, I would suggest that meals are served in a kennel. My people have a puzzle food toy that I LOVE, foster mom says it is a great way to help me slow down and focus at mealtimes. We are also working on kennel training. So far, I prefer a wire kennel over a plastic kennel. And foster mom has been letting me sleep in the bed. Although I tend to get into things so she keeps me on a leash, even during sleepy time! Again, safety first! Potty training is a work in progress, my people said I am a whirling dervish when nature calls – hee hee. I definitely have a “signal” if you are paying attention! Typical of my breed, I would thrive in a home that will keep my mind and body active, give me a job and keep me busy. I think obedience school or agility training would be a fantastic way to bond and learn new things. My people said that I am very smart and started counter surfing and exploring into things I shouldn’t, kinda like a toddler (hee hee) so they provide supervision and things for me to do. I may be a tiny tot, but I've got a big heart and a spirit ready for adventures. If you're up for teaching, loving, and navigating life together, let's make it happen! I'm here, ready to become the most awesome dog you've ever known.  *I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. If you are looking for a best friend, please fill out the puppy application. The more info you include on the application the better so I can find a good match for my forever home. Get your toy box ready! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters.  Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter.  Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized.  If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.  This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses.  Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.  Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a   particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.     This puppy requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.  We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hello, I’m a gorgeous and very sweet adult female miniature Aussie named Ashley. Sure, I may not play with toys much, but I enjoy an occasional treat and exploring the yard. But ya know what I REALLY love…pleasing and cuddling with my people and playing with other active dogs!! I’m a bit timid and shy to warm up to you but once I do, I’m a complete sweetie.  I’m independent and when I want to be petted, I’ll seek you out and let you hold me like a baby and cuddle me up.  I don’t like a lot of commotion, but I am getting better each day. Anyway, I’m also good with other dogs if they’re not too big or assertive. I would really love another dog in my forever home because one of my favorite things to do is chase around the fenced yard and do some zoomies. I really do get all my confidence from another dog so this will help me along the way. Because I am a high energy dog, little kids might not be the best fit for me as I would be sad if I accidently knocked them over. Foster mom says I am very athletic and she is hoping my forever family works with me on agility or sports. Bring it on! When I’m not running around, I love treat puzzles and a good snuffle mat or a bone.  I haven’t quite understood what toys are for.  Heck, I’ve got so much to do already! When the other dogs are playing fetch, I’m off to chase them, not the ball.  When I catch and give a cute little bark/growl (not aggressive) to tell them how slow they are.  Potty training is going well on a schedule; I am leash & crate trained though I admit I may bark a bit in the kennel (hee, hee); I do fine in the car; and I know commands like “come”, “kennel/crate”, and “leave it” so you can clearly see I’m quite smart! I am the sweetest girl ever and foster mom is going to miss me SO much, but she knows my lifelong dream is to find a patient, unconditionally loving fur-ever family that will NEVER give up on me. I’m an amazing little love bug with an enormous heart who will love you more than life if you will simply welcome me into your world! Love, Ashley *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    I’m new to this whole family atmosphere thing.  I’m still learning about all the things.  When I am not in my safe place (which may take me a little bit in my forever home) I am nervous and skittish.  But once I learn it’s a safe zone, I relax and let me sweet and loving nature come out. I’m still working hard at potty training, leash walking and the kennel.  I can tell you that I am NOT a kennel fan.  I’ll let you know all about it so probably best not to have shared walls.  I also need a fenced yard because I haven’t spent a lot of energy learning about leashes.  And I like playing with the resident dog.  Well, one of them because the senior dog here isn’t into playing.  I do need another dog in my forever home so I can learn to trust, get on a routine and a confident one to show me the ropes and play with.. I like playing with toys and stuffed animals when not playing with the other dog here.  There is even a cat who isn’t fond of me chasing it, but I think a dog savvy cat and a set of eyes on me, we could be friends. My foster mom wanted me to tell you how sweet and SUPER SMART I am.  But that I also have a fear about going outside.  That’s where another confident dog could help me.  I’m getting better every day.  I have lots of puppy energy and am working on not getting into things.  If you are my person/family, I’d love to have you fill out an application and we can meet! *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.
