Story
Meet Marti! Marti is a 5 year old, neutered, double merle, male, who came to us almost completely feral. He is a slightly pudgy 40 pounds, crate trained, house broke (but still leaks a little urine when sleeping although we haven't tried medication for that yet as it has been improving). As he is double merle he has some vision issues as well. Marti will need a very special owner that is willing to give him plenty of time to learn to trust. At his foster home Marti gets along with other dogs, is great with cats, and walks off leash in a rural setting. Marti is that lower energy aussie everyone's looking for and would like a quiet home. Marti will need more training in cooperative Care which his foster is working on and is easy to implement. The details: Needs Fence: Depends on setting (needs to gain trust to be leashed, fence necessary in busier area) Good With Dogs: Yes Good With People: Needs patience Good with cats: Yes All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com. All dogs have an adoption fee of $300 plus MN sales tax. We pride ourselves on matches that are awesome for both the dog and your family. Aussie Rescue of MN is here for support, advice and as a safety net for our dogs for the rest of their lives.

Story
UPDATED BIO - Dodger is a year old neutered Red Tri Aussie with lots of copper and a white blaze on his chest. Dodger's history is unknown - he was a stray that had to be live trapped. Dodger loves his people and other dogs but is somewhat nervous in new environments. Like most dogs, once he realizes he's in a safe place he becomes very outgoing and bouncy! Dodger would do really well with another dog to play with. Even though Dodger could jump a shorter fence, he made no attempt to in one of his foster homes, always staying close to his foster Mom. A fenced yard would be beneficial, though, as Dodger hasn't had enough walks yet to realize how fun they are, and his history of running makes him a flight risk. Needs fence: Yes Good with dogs: Yes Good with cats: Unknown - no exposure Good with kids: Teens or older All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. Introducing Lucy! Brand new to rescue, we know very little about Lucy, who came to rescue with Gemma, other than the basics: Lucy is 4 year old red merle spayed female weighing 28 lbs at intake, who was surrendered due to not being good with babies and young children in the home and was living in an unheated garage with Gemma. At current, both dogs are friendly & affectionate with people, soaking up all opportunities to be with them but are showing signs of not being good citizens with unfamiliar dogs at this time as they acclimate from living in a garage away from people and other dogs to being inside a home where human and canine contact is more regular. Lucy is also struggling some separation anxiety, which isn't surprising given her previous situation. We are currently taking some time to assess them as to their needs when it comes to living with other dogs long-term, but are seeking big hearts with time and patience to give who could be interested in fostering or foster-to-adopt applicants for these ladies. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $350 plus taxPeggy Lee is a smart and spirited mix of shepherd/herding and working breeds. She seems to be always thinking and noticing. She takes time to warm up to people, but once she does, she cannot get enough belly rubs and snuggles. Until she feels comfortable, she will “alert bark” at strangers and does not want to be approached, unless it is on her terms. But… be ready for a complete 180. Displaying kindness and patience in the first few weeks will pay off in a lifetime of affection and adoration from this lovable girl. Before you know it, you will have a snuggle buddy and loving companion. She has begun occasionally letting a gentle stranger pet her, but it takes calm encouragement from the person she trusts. With consistency and support, she should greatly improve in this area. She went from being fearful of foster mom’s boyfriend to wanting belly rubs from him, within a few visits. She loves car rides, naps in the yard, trips to the dog park, walks, and any other adventures. She would probably be a happy boating dog. She may also enjoy agility or another active sport.  Peggy Lee is crate trained! After a few mournful moments as foster mom leaves for work, she settles down in the crate, much easier than when she’s left loose in the house. She will voluntarily choose to hang out in her crate even with the door wide open. But she wants to be near her people and part of the family. Peggy Lee has so much affection to give. She wants nothing more than to love and be loved. She is easy to train, when done in a loving way. Peggy learned sit, lay down, and “paw” (to shake) in just a few days. When I tell her she’s a good girl, her tail just thumps on the floor in pure happiness. She entertains herself with chew toys and loves a good squeaker. As a strong and athletic dog, she benefits from an opportunity to run and play every day. Don’t miss the video of her zoomies with the frisbee. Peggy Lee sleeps soundly at night in her dog bed on the floor, although she would be happy be with her human in the bed as well. She needs the company of another confident and interactive dog in her home. She looks to the other dog for cues for just about everything. She will gleefully engage in play with her doggy sibling. She is overly obsessed with cats, and very vocal about it, so she needs a cat-free home. She will keep all squirrels, cats, and birds out of your yard. She will also let you know if she sees a cat out the window.  Peggy Lee really is a special kind of dog who is just what someone out there is seeking. Story
Hi, I’m Moose! I’m a herding breed mix of some kind born 10/7/23!   I am very energetic and always looking to play. I’m even good at playing by myself with my toys!  I’m friendly with everyone - adults, kids, dogs of all sizes, and cats.  Any person I meet immediately becomes my best friend!  I bark sometimes when other dogs are playing rambunctiously or when I get scared.  I like to make my foster mom laugh by talking back to her when she tells me to be quiet.  I typically prefer to be cuddled up with my people.  I am potty trained and can go several hours without an accident (while my foster mom is at work).  I sleep in my crate, and I am quiet at night.  I’ve mastered leash walking but want to sniff EVERYTHING on my walks and also will try to chase squirrels.  If you’re interested in meeting me, let me know!  I’d love to meet you!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $550.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 5:33 pm

Story
Jenny is a mini Aussie born 4/17/21.   I also call her JJ and Jen Jen.   Jenny is still working on potty training. She doesn’t let you know when she has to go. She does use a reusable pee pad, when she does have to go. She will chew up the disposable ones. She is kennel trained and does great. The longest I’ve had her kenneled is 12 hours and she hasn’t had an accident when in her kennel. She is still getting used to my 6 year old, so I would say older kids would be best. She has been great with the other dogs she’s met. She is good with my cat although she can play rough but she redirects well.    She does good on the leash and is now great in the car. She likes putting her head out the window.  She has a high energy level so a fenced in yard would be best. She is extremely fast and hard to catch. She does have a good recall. She’s still cautious and skittish with new people.   It took her 6-8 weeks for her to trust me and can still be skittish with me. She will paw and bark at you to get your attention. She will also let you cuddle with her.   She is making progress everyday. She is not kenneled at night and I allow her to sleep in my bed. If you kennel her while you’re home she will bark and paw at her kennel door. Once she trusts you she’ll be your best friend and protector. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, dental, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue.
