Story
A portion of Moana's s adoption fee has been sponsored by her friends at The Murray Fund. The adoption fee sponsorship credit of $400.00 will be applied during the contract process Hi! My name is Moana and I am an owner surrender. This beautiful, special needs little girl would love to be your new lap buddy. She's typically a mellow girl but she can sometimes have a feisty side, too-She wants to be near her people and whatever activities are happening! She is very social and absolutely loves people! She loves to snuggle (her very favoritest thing!), loves to play and gets sooooo excited when you talk to her, pet her, or get down on the floor to play with her- whether she's in her wheelchair, playing in her harness attached to a converted Johnny jump up or in your lap while playing with other dogs or kids. She'll need flat, safe surfaces when she's in her wheelchair. She has been exposed to cats once when visiting a friends' house and was curious but non reactive. She will bark if startled or sometimes when she hears another dog bark but settles pretty quickly. My neighborhood has lots of dogs with lots of barking but she's usually non reactive to it. She is potty trained on a schedule and will alert you by getting super active and may whine when she has to go out potty at other times. She sleeps through the night without accidents. She will still have occasional accidents, if she gets super excited (and I'm missing her cues) and sometimes when left alone for extended periods while you're out. I have a safe pen area for her to be in for when I need to go out. Because of her CH, she cannot get up off the floor or sustain walking on her own without assistance. She uses a vest harness with long handles that you use to help her "walk around and go potty. I converted a Johnny jump up and attach her harness to that for playtime on a mat. She has her own wheelchair to get around some. If laying down on the floor, she will "scoot around using her legs to get to where she wants to be (which is wherever you are). She loves to go on walks in her doggy stroller! She enjoys car rides and is often my copilot when I run errands. She is water averse so I feed her 3 times a day with soaked kibble in water or broth along with some wet food mixed in to make sure she gets adequate hydration. She'll drink the flavorful fluids in her bowl to get to the food. I hold her upright in my arms to feed her, then snuggle her after meals. Because she loves her people (and is dependent on them) she does have separation anxiety which is managed nicely with medications. This special little girl needs someone who is home a majority of the time and wants a sweet little snuggle buddy. From the vet team: Hello! I arrived at The Bond Between as part of the Fighter Fund program due to my Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH) diagnosis. CH is a condition resulting from inadequate development of the cerebellum which causes lack of balance/coordination, ambulation, head bobbing, tremors, etc. The vet team has provided my foster with physical therapy exercises to help me gain strength but I will always have this condition. I have a wheelchair and a harness to help with movement but it is also recommended that my future adopter lay down rubber mats to help with my movement. My future adopter should understand my condition and monitor my health with a primary veterinarian. I had an eyelash surgery a few months ago to make sure my eyes were not getting infected, but everything has been completed and I do not have any other health issues.

Hi everyone! My name is Rocky a.k.a. your new family member. So I guess I'm supposed to tell you things that will make you pick me, besides my cute face and goofy underbite of course! I love to go on walks and car rides, I'm really good at both! I love to relax by chewing on a bone or playing with new squeaky toys! Playing fetch is my favorite! I can also be pretty independent. I'm the biggest cuddle bug. Wherever you sit, I sit too! My love language is physical touch. I love to play with all dogs and humans! Cats are not my favorite. My foster brother has taught me how to play well with other dogs and I love to chase him around the yard. I am doing so well with potty training since being at my foster mom's house! I also don't mind being in my kennel, I sleep very peacefully in there all night. -I'm very treat motivated so learning new commands are pretty easy for me. I love to be challenged with new commands & go on adventures!! If you want to learn more about me or meet me, submit an application and my foster mom will gladly answer any of your questions! From the Vet: Hi! My name is Rocky and I am on the lookout for a special furever home with an active and consistent routine! I have been struggling with a lot of overactive and compulsive need to be drinking water causing increased urination. The Bond Between vets have completed several tests to make sure that I am otherwise healthy particularly in regards to my urine/kidney health. No abnormalities were found on my test results therefore the vet believes this increased thirst and urination is due to a behavioral cause. Environmental enrichment and lots of activities like exercise, play time, training etc. will be crucial to my success in my new home!

Story
If you are looking for a dog who will be your most loyal companion with striking good looks and the best puppy eyes ever ....you’ve found her!  Meet Jessica – your typical Australian Shepherd who has a zest for life! However, Jessica is not your average family dog.  Due to her high level of intelligence and energy she needs adequate physical and mental stimulation.  Although Aussie’s enjoy being outside, hours alone in the yard isn’t going to cut it for this girl.  This breed is always looking for a “job” to do:  puzzle games, dock diving, Frisbee, agility training, Treibball, or fly ball are a few activities Jessica would thrive in.  She would love to join you on adventures to the park, breweries, kids’ sporting events, family outings, camping, or hiking.  Even an active game of fetch or a great running session with another canine companion would give her the opportunity to get those zoomies out. Any variety of these activities on a daily basis is going to keep Jessica a happy pup! Jessica comes to you house and crate trained, walks well on a leash, is well-behaved during car rides, is not vocally reactive (although she may let out the occasional “awooo!” as she’s heading out the door for her morning potty break).   She is also command trained:  she knows "sit", "down", “off”, “all done” and more!  Cats are unknown, but she seems to have a low prey drive.   With all this talk about Jessica’s energy, she does have a quiet side to her.  She is a sensitive girl and will look to you for reassurance, if she’s feeling apprehensive.  She knows her bedtime and will cue you around 7:30 PM that she’s tired and ready….are you?  But no blankets at bedtime for Miss Jessica as she’s proven she can’t resist chewing on her binkies.  Oops!   Due to Jessica’s high energy needs, below is a wish list for her forever home: Must have experience with high-energy breeds or at a minimum have a deep understanding of dog behavior.  This goes beyond being a previous dog owner. Must have the ability to be the alpha in the dog/owner relationship.  Herding and high-energy dogs need someone who can offer appropriate redirection when necessary. It is important that her forever home understand her needs for daily mental enrichment and physical activity.  Jessica needs to be in an active household! (see above for examples of what an active household may look like for Jessica) Jessica tends to show her affection by making a beeline for ears and giving love nibbles (this is a work in progress - apparently her foster’s ears are very delicious), so at this time we would recommend a household with children over 11 years old.        ##1954343##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.      Hello, my name is Benji! I am a very handsome young adult male Mini Aussiedoodle who doesn’t like a lot of commotion, but I love to cuddle, and I prefer women. Truth is, I am highly sensitive and reactive to ‘stranger danger’! That’s right, I react to people approaching the front door, coming into the house, and even people approaching my kennel. I know…it’s not something I’m proud of but I’m working on it…really, I am!! In fact, foster mom is trying to help me associate new people (strangers) with positive outcomes and I am confident that I will be successful in time but for now it is still a work in progress. In the meantime, mom sometimes puts a muzzle on me and although it doesn’t bother me at all I prefer, of course, not to wear it so my new family will need to commit to working with me on training. Muzzle training may make me look scary, but it allows me to safely meet and work on my training so I can be happy!  After all, consistency, patience, loving encouragement, and LOTS of mental and physical stimulation are the keys to my success!!! I am good with older kids, cats, and other dogs; and my favorite activities include going on my daily leashed walks or car rides; hiking; exploring; eating treats like plain Greek yogurt or pumpkin; playing with small squeaky toys and other dogs; chewing on Benebones; and running zoomies in the yard so the yard at my new home will need to be fenced! Hee, hee!! I also hope to have a small, confident doggie companion who might help me overcome some of my anxiety about strangers!!! By the way, I almost forgot to mention that I am a prodigy…no, really! I know everything from how to do my business outside to a deluge of commands like “sit”, “down”, “come”, “kennel/crate”, “wait”, “leave it”, “outside”, and “go potty”!! Thankfully, I enjoy learning, especially when I have a strong, confident, respectful leader, and I really love pleasing my people!! Anyway, foster mom says that I am the “most affectionate” dog she’s ever met and as hard as I try, I simply cannot disagree with her! Hee, hee!! All I need in my life now is YOU…a patient, unconditionally loving forever family who will not only NEVER give up on me but will commit to helping me overcome my fears!! I promise that not only am I totally worth it, but I will enrich your life in ways you could never imagine!!! Love, Benji Some of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. Others have come from various situations where they are lacking confidence in humans. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.   This dog has received grooming with us at Underdog Rescue, but was likely neglected of grooming attention until he came into our care.  It can sometimes take months to get their coat healthy as Doodle mixes require daily brushing.  Grooming appointments occur every 3 months and cost on average of $150 per appointment.  Adopters should be prepared for such expenses.  Underdog Rescue cannot guarantee the non-shedding or hypoallergenic qualities of this dog.    ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hey there, wonderful humans! I'm Kiwi, the pint-sized dynamo with a heart full of love and a zest for life. Let me give you the lowdown on the awesomeness that is me: Picture this – shades of brown and cream, one ear perpetually popped up, and eyes that tell stories – one blue and one brown. Yep, that's me, a young Mini Aussie turning heads wherever I go! Now, here's the thing – they say I'm a bit hard of hearing, but I've got my own language. I have a slight hearing loss due to being born with hydrocephalus.  We think I can hear deeper sounds, but not higher pitches. Silent hand claps for applause (and belly rubs, of course), gentle taps on the ribs for attention, and some cool hand signals like thumbs up for SIT and a wave for "come on down." I'm mastering the art of communication!  I am sometimes a bit unsteady on my feet and circle around when stimulated - that's some of my hydrocephalus showing.  But, there are no long term needs known at this time.  I might have some uniqueness, but it makes me special! Life's a classroom, and I'm here to soak it all in. I do require a fenced yard in my forever home AND need to be leashed in the yard until I understand when my people want me to come inside. My people said when we go on walks, it is best for me to be double leashed as I am skittish and a flight risk. She says “Safety First” before we go outside. When I meet new people, I am a little nervous and need some time to warm up. There are so many new things to see and sniff, I get a little overwhelmed. I am always excited to go home play with my toys. I have Crocky, Bunny, Mousey, Ropey and Bully – I like toys that are tuff so I can chew and chase with them. We recently started playing frisbee – I understand the chase part and we are working on the return part – hee hee! Hopefully my forever family will keep practicing with me. My people said that I am growing and learning so much – they are calling them “light bulb moments” because you can actually see it when I am excited and understand something new. They said I would be a good candidate to try out agility, fly ball or rat hunting because I am a high energy dog with an active mind. Did I mention my love for food? It's basically everything, and I'm open to culinary adventures! Except chicken, that sometime gives me tummy rumbles – ick. Also, sometimes I get crabby if there is another dog around at mealtime, I would suggest that meals are served in a kennel. My people have a puzzle food toy that I LOVE, foster mom says it is a great way to help me slow down and focus at mealtimes. We are also working on kennel training. So far, I prefer a wire kennel over a plastic kennel. And foster mom has been letting me sleep in the bed. Although I tend to get into things so she keeps me on a leash, even during sleepy time! Again, safety first! Potty training is a work in progress, my people said I am a whirling dervish when nature calls – hee hee. I definitely have a “signal” if you are paying attention! Typical of my breed, I would thrive in a home that will keep my mind and body active, give me a job and keep me busy. I think obedience school or agility training would be a fantastic way to bond and learn new things. My people said that I am very smart and started counter surfing and exploring into things I shouldn’t, kinda like a toddler (hee hee) so they provide supervision and things for me to do. I may be a tiny tot, but I've got a big heart and a spirit ready for adventures. If you're up for teaching, loving, and navigating life together, let's make it happen! I'm here, ready to become the most awesome dog you've ever known.  *I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. If you are looking for a best friend, please fill out the puppy application. The more info you include on the application the better so I can find a good match for my forever home. Get your toy box ready! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters.  Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter.  Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized.  If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.  This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses.  Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.  Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a   particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.     This puppy requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.  We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up.
