Story
BALSAM is a real cuddle bug, climbing on his foster's lap any chance he gets earning him the position of foster-favorite. He is super playful and would be a great match for another playful dog of any size. He also can entertain himself. Check out the videos! Balsam and his siblings were surrendered to PUP because the owner, who lived in a remote area, could not afford the pups and felt she could not find suitable adopters. They said pups were born 9-27-25. The mommy dog is a much loved 30# ‘low rider’ with short legs (pictured). A partner organization agreed to pay for her to be spayed if PUP found homes for the puppies. The owner did a good job of socializing the pups and they arrived in good health. They are well socialized, playful and are enjoying the good life. Balsam looks like he is going to be a lankier than his mommy and we expect he will be in the in the lower end of large breed when he is full grown. We did DNA testing on one little boy from the litter. We suspect there might be 2 daddies in this litter. We did DNA testing on one little boy from the litter and we suspect he had a different daddy from Balsam but this should be at least half right. There were 20 identifiable breeds. Only 3 were in double digits, Australian Cattle Dog 20%, Boxer, 12% and German Shepherd 11%. Under 10% were: husky 7 %, Lab 6% and the rest are under 5%: Border Collie, Chihuahua, Australian Shepherd, Akita, Shih Tzu, Sheltie, Miniature American Shepherd, Malamute, Miniature Pinscher, Miniature Schnauzer, Peruvian Inca Orchid, and Rottweiler, Malamute, Chow Chow, Pit Bull, Cocker Spaniel. When someone asks you what breed, depending on your mood you could say Shih Tzu or Akita or any of the above. The real breed here seems to be cuddles. Balsam seems to laugh at the cold. He happily goes out to play with the other dogs and when they come in he seems disappointed and sometimes spends a bit more time playing by himself before asking to come in. He is doing a very good job of learning house breaking. He is crated for several hours during the work day and over night and keeps his crate clean. He is not fully house broken but he is making good headway. The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog. Puppy has been vet checked, (he weighed 10# on 12-1 and is the largest of the litter) is vaccinated and de-wormed. He will need one additional puppy vaccination plus rabies at the adopter’s expense. We do place puppies outside the metro area if a firm plan for the alter surgery is in place; we do not ship. His required alter surgery is covered by the adoption fee if it is done at 6 months at the PUP clinic. We require that he be altered at 6 months. If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a puppy, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. We are pretty slow at responding to e-mail. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy. If you currently have a companion dog or cat please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if requested. https://youtube.com/watch?v=it3wlyOkL_M https://youtube.com/shorts/n_8LJfzIcgw https://youtube.com/shorts/gGMZYI9jHuU Professional photographs by Clara Metivier https://youtube.com/shorts/n_8LJfzIcgw https://youtube.com/shorts/gGMZYI9jHuU

Story
Odin is a 5 year olds, neutered male black bi Australian Shepherd. He is 37 pounds, housebroke, good with cats, and likes people but is bit nervous around strangers. He does pull on leash some, is well mannered in the house and can sit, down and shake. Odin is currently living in a foster with 6 other dogs with no issues. Odin was a transfer from a shelter in Iowa due to the fact that he has issues with body handling and needs some work in cooperative care to get him comfortable with grooming and vet visits. His foster is working on muzzle training and desensitizing him to brushing. Odin is very treat motivated and loves his training sessions on the grooming table. Scroll down on our facebook to see a live session on cooperative care using Odin as a demo. In that video I mention that Odin is headed to a new home. We took him there but the resident dog and Odin decided very quickly that they did not want to share a home and he came back to his foster the same day. The details: Needs fence: no, but unsure how he is off leash Good with dogs: yes, actively avoids conflict in house with 6 other dogs. Good with cats: yes Good with kids: likely not due to issues with bodily handling. Older kids would be fine. All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com. All dogs have an adoption fee of $400 plus MN sales tax. We pride ourselves on matches that are awesome for both the dog and your family. Aussie Rescue of MN is here for support, advice and as a safety net for our dogs for the rest of their lives.

Story
Eunice came to rescue from Animal Control. She is a spayed female black tri Australian Shepherd, approximately a little over a year old. Eunice is a high energy dog whose foster has worked hard on her tendency to jump on people, so this behavior is much more controlled. She will sit and lie down on command as it is her opinion that these are fun tricks to do! She loves her stuffed toys but does have to monitored when she has them as to not shred them to pieces. (This is why we can't have nice things Eunice... you need to be nice to your toys if you want them to last Eunice...) She loves to be pet and talked to - her foster has been working on her house manners, observing her to be well-intentioned but a diamond in the rough. She needs a home that will enjoy training her and she loves to learn. She does have an off switch - she will enjoy herself on the deck and watch the birds. She loves her crate and has learned to "wait" to come out. She also was recently groomed and was a very good girl for the groomer. The details: Needs fence: Likely no, but needs established trust before being off lead Good with dogs: Yes, better with neutral dogs Good with cats: Not really; does like to chase those that run Good with kids: Seems to be All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. Story
Meet Marti! Marti is a 5 year old, neutered, double merle, male, who came to us almost completely feral. He is a slightly pudgy 40 pounds, crate trained, house broke (but still leaks a little urine when sleeping although we haven't tried medication for that yet as it has been improving). As he is double merle he has some vision issues as well. Marti will need a very special owner that is willing to give him plenty of time to learn to trust. At his foster home Marti gets along with other dogs, is great with cats, and walks off leash in a rural setting. Marti is that lower energy aussie everyone's looking for and would like a quiet home. Marti will need more training in cooperative Care which his foster is working on and is easy to implement. The details: Needs Fence: Depends on setting (needs to gain trust to be leashed, fence necessary in busier area) Good With Dogs: Yes Good With People: Needs patience Good with cats: Yes All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. Story
This handsome fellow and his siblings came in to rescue last winter after they were dumped on a back country road. Their mother was found deceased, so we took the puppies in to try to save them. They were very sick initially but are very healthy now. Big boy is a gentle boy but does love to run and play with other dogs. Big boy was the largest of the puppies, but his siblings have caught up to him. He has done amazing with his house and crate training. He is so deserving of a wonderful home to call his own. He is fostered in East TN, but transportation is included in the adoption fee and provided by Rescue Riders LLC. Please let me know if you have any questions. Please email us for the link to the adoption application (His adoption fee is only to cover transport and health certificate to travel to another state.)

Story
Petey is a 30-lb Border Collie mix—or a small dog with a big personality! At 2-years-old, he's a sassy younger sibling to his foster brother Max, always riling Max up in a hilarious way. Petey loves to taunt his brother with his hilariously cute "tough guy" growl when they play, making sure Max knows it's out of love, so they can end up in a classic cuddle puddle. Petey is house-trained and always eager to please. He lets you know when it’s time to go outside and is full of energy and fun. He is crate-trained, but does not enjoy being in the kennel alone. While he’s still learning some manners, he’s as sweet and good-natured as they come.Petey gets along wonderfully with other dogs and absolutely loves having a canine buddy to play and wrestle with—his foster brother has been a huge help in bringing out his confidence and playful side. He gets excited when seeing other dogs on walks, always ready to make a new friend. He’s also good with kids, but since he can be a jumper when he’s excited, a proper introduction is recommended first. Petey cannot live with cats.Petey’s favorite things in life are walks, playing fetch, and wrestling with his dog friends. Squeaky toys and plushies get destroyed with him! He’s happiest when he’s active, so Petey will thrive in a home with a fenced yard or a family committed to giving him plenty of daily exercise in other ways. Here is a video to learn more: https://www.flexclip.com/share/3552797CvG1geascrHzFxBexFQ9dzcnP6sQM9V3.htmlIf you are interested in this dog, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. Meet Finn, the sweetest boy with the brightest smile! Finn is a friendly, playful Border Collie who’s ready to bring joy and energy into his forever home. He’s fantastic with other dogs and would love a canine buddy to romp around with—but he’s just as happy being your one-and-only adventure pal. This smart guy is fully housetrained, eager to please, and quick to settle in once he knows he’s safe. Finn adores walks, follows along beautifully, and lights up when it’s time to play with toys—tug, fetch, squeaky toys… he’s not picky, he loves them all. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a sweet heart and a happy-go-lucky spirit, Finn is your dog. He’s ready to explore the world with you, snuggle after a good play session, and become the best friend you’ve been hoping for. Finn recently met a couple of cats and did really well. He was curious, respectful and then quickly interested in other things! He also does well with older kids (age 12+) and loves to get lots of attention and snuggle. Snapshot of Gordy: Size? Medium-Large (48 lbs) Activity Level? High -he is a border collie mix, after all! ;) Noise Level? Low Good with Dogs? Yes Good with Cats? Yes Good with Kids? Likely, but no children in foster home. Good with Strangers? Yes Potty Trained? Yes, with appropriate supervision and a schedule. Crate Trained? Yes Shedding? Medium About Gordy: Hi, my name is Gordy! I also respond to Gordo, Gordito, Sir Gordon, and Cheesy Gordita Crunch. I am an adorable border collie/lab mix who wants nothing more than a home to call my own--and, preferably, a ball to call my own as well. I LOVE to chase balls, and if no balls are around, I'll make do with chasing anything you throw for me--stuffies, sticks, ropes... the options are endless. My foster mom says that I'm amazingly well adjusted given my relatively rough history. I was 1 of 16 (!!) dogs rescued from a local home, and I haven't had the best care before now. For example, you might notice that I have a bit of a limp due to a wonky front foot. The vet says that this is likely caused by a ruptured tendon that didn't heal right. Fortunately, it doesn't slow me down at all! I also recently had 8 front teeth removed, including 3 of my canines, which were all fractured, likely from biting at the bars of a crate. Still, nothing can bring down my happy-go-lucky personality (except, of course, when my foster mom puts away my ball for the night). Something else you should know about me is that I tested positive for two tick-borne diseases, Anaplasmosis and Lyme. I received treatment and I don’t have any signs of chronic Lyme infection - which is AMAZING news! I will likely continue to test positive for both of these for the rest of my life due to chronic antibodies. It is possible that I could develop side effects from Lyme later in my life but for now I’m a happy and healthy boy! Here's a bit more from my foster mom: An ideal home for Gordy would be one that can give him lots of mental and physical stimulation. He really enjoys chewing on bones and bully sticks, playing tug with toys, and playing fetch. He's also a smart boy and has picked up on sit, lay down, and crate up very quickly. We're working on some new commands for him to show off! I think he'd do great with someone who enjoys having a dog that can be a companion to them on a variety of adventures! Gordy is fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations for his age.
