Story
Odin is a 9-year old Aussie mix who's owner died. From his foster: Looking for a sweet, friendly, silly, senior? Odin loves people and is great with dogs! He enjoys being active whether it's walks (although is a puller and we are working on that) or the dog park. His favorite is going to run around his foster granddads 42 acres!!! But Odin doesn't run off and comes when called! What a good boy Odin is a quiet boy, rarely makes a peep, not even when those darn delivery folks come to the door! He is completely potty trained, does great in a kennel but doesn't need one. He is currently not kenneled and does not get into anything. He has shown absolutely zero aggression or resource guarding with my dog nor any he has met. He's just a lovely good boy. Odin was born with a short lower jaw, although this does not hinder his eating or drinking. He often has his tongue out to the side and will dribble water a bit more than most dogs. He does great with his dry or canned food on a plate. Odin would do great in just about any household as he is a pretty easygoing guy but would do best with regular exercise. He is afraid of the vacuum but so far that's it. Does great in the car, good for baths, nail trims, and no fear of storms. From the Vet: Hi! My name is Odin and I would love to share some medical information we have learned from my history as well as my first exam at The Bond Between Vet Center! My jaw appears to have been congenital, but it is not at this time causing me any issues with my teeth! I do have history of seizures, however I have not had any episodes during the time I have been with my foster so the vet said I don't need any meds! While it is unlikely at this stage, my future adopter should monitor for any seizure activity and seek guidance with a primary vet thereafter. Hope to meet you soon and settle into my fur-ever home!

Hi! My name is Flounder and I am from Kentucky. I am about 2 years old and 38 lbs. I get along well with other dogs, and when people are asked to use one word to describe me, the answer is always Sweet! I love to make new friends, could one of them be you? From his foster: Flounder is a happy 2-year-old Australian Shepard. He has a lot of energy and zooms all over the house. He loves being petted and getting belly rubs. He takes a nap around 12 or 1. He climbs up on the couch and falls asleep. Loves his stuffed animals. He tosses them between the couch and the loveseat. We are working on a good routine for potty time and giving tells but it's a work in progress.

Hi! My name is Frito and I am from Kentucky. I'm a sweet little guy who adores napping and playing. Like any typical puppy, I alternate between lots of sleep and bursts of energy. My favorite place is my foster mom's fenced backyard, where I love to zoom around with my foster toddler and have a blast! I enjoy playing with other dogs and kids, too. When I'm not zooming around town, I'm all about cuddles! I'm still learning to walk nicely on a leash and doing well with potty training on a consistent schedule. I've met chickens and cats and find them okay, but they don't grab my attention too much. I believe I'd make a wonderful addition to any family! From his foster: Hi there, I'm Frito! Story
Hi! My name is Cally and I am from Arkansas! From her foster: Cally is a brave, spunky gal. She is confident, loving, independent and gets along well with people and dogs. She loves to roll in the grass (sometimes even do a summersault into the grass while she's playing) and chewing on sticks in the backyard. She gets along great with our large resident pup, they barrel roll together and wrestle until they're both ready to take a nap. She also did well with another smaller dog who likes to be the alpha of her family and Cally took her cues well. She sleeps through the night in a pen that is attached to her kennel, so she'll sleep in her kennel and then come out to pee on a puppy pad but will cry when she's ready to go out in the morning for a real bathroom break. She hasn't been put in her kennel with the door shut yet, she has access to the pen with water and food at all times, but she views it as a safe space so if her owner wants to kennel train her without the pen she should be very open to it. She will go and sit in there with a toy when she wants some alone time. She loves to play independently with a toy or five, and will pull them all out of the toy bin and entertain herself, making her a great work from home companion. She has also been an "office dog" in my shared office space a few days and she was well behaved and a great little worker. I think she may be mixed with a husky because when she does make a noise it tends to be that classic husky "singing" both when she's happy or when she wants something. Her chewing has been pretty exclusively on dog toys. She's well on her way to being potty trained, but still has the occasional accident mostly when she and our resident dog are having too much fun inside and then she realizes she has to go. She has a fantastic personality and is pretty fearless, making her a pretty easy fit in most families!

Story
My name is Sneakers and I’m approximately 3 years old. Recently I was in an accident and my eye was damaged. It has now been removed and I feel a lot better. I’m quiet girl and I love following my humans around. I’m great with other dogs and would like a doggy friend in my furever home. I haven’t met any cats yet. I also haven’t met many kids but I’m very calm and respectful of personal space so I think I would like kids. I’m house trained and I walk well on a leash. I’m crated at night and when my foster parent isn’t home but I would really like to sleep in your bed. I can be a little shy around new people and will bark at first when I meet them, but I warm up quickly. Can I complete your family? **Sneakers needs another dog in the home to help her feel confident. ##1986660##

Story
Meet Hoss, a charming and affectionate foster puppy who's ready to bring joy and love into your home! This little guy is already potty trained to a regular schedule of every 6 hours, ensuring a clean house and kennel.  Hoss is a quick learner and is making great progress with kennel training. Although he may bark a bit when first kenneled, he soon settles down for a cozy nap and sleeps through the night like a champ. His temporary clinginess and occasional whining are just signs of his sweet nature and recent separation from his siblings. He loves to cuddle and is learning to lie beside you, making him the perfect snuggle buddy. This playful pup has a knack for shredding his toys, and with a bit of guidance, he's learning to avoid cords and other off-limits items. Hoss is eager to learn and adapt, making him a delightful companion for anyone willing to invest a little time in his training. Hoss is looking for a loving home where he can grow, thrive, and be a loyal friend. Could you be the perfect match for this adorable bundle of joy?   If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please an Adoption Request Form. Story
Hi there, I'm Esme! I may be a puppy, but I have the perfect balance of mellow and energetic. When it's time to go, I'm ready! And when it's quiet time I'll catch up on my zzz. I love to snuggle up for a good cuddle session; my foster mom loves to snuggle me! I'm working on my potty training; I've only had one accident. My foster mom practices walking on a leash with me, I do pretty good, but will keep working on it. My curiosity often leads me to sniff out new adventures, and sometimes I follow my nose, but don't worry, if you call for me, I'll come right back. I'm also gentle with everyone I meet, always ready to make new friends. My loyalty is unwavering, and I promise to be your best friend. I like to lay right next to my foster mom's chair when she's relaxing. When we go outside, I follow her all over the farm, and since I'm a good listener and super smart she doesn't put me on a leash. Even though I'm not thrilled about baths, I sit very nice in the tub to get cleaned up and dried. With me, every day will be filled with joy, laughter, and unconditional love. Adopting me means gaining a very loyal companion who will love you endlessly.   If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please an Adoption Request Form. Hi, I'm Huck! I'm 6 months old and learning new things every day. I'm always ready for a game of fetch or a good cuddle. My mellow nature makes me a perfect companion for quiet evenings, but I'm always up for an adventure, too. I've got a gentle soul and prefer a quiet environment . I'm working on potty training, and doing very well. Chew bones are one of my favorite things, I do like chewing, but I am a puppy after all! I get along very well with other dogs and my foster mom's cat. I'm looking for a forever home where I can grow, play, and love. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.      Hello, my name is Benji! I am a very handsome young adult male Mini Aussiedoodle who doesn’t like a lot of commotion, but I love to cuddle, and I prefer women. Truth is, I am highly sensitive and reactive to ‘stranger danger’! That’s right, I react to people approaching the front door, coming into the house, and even people approaching my kennel. I know…it’s not something I’m proud of but I’m working on it…really, I am!! In fact, foster mom is trying to help me associate new people (strangers) with positive outcomes and I am confident that I will be successful in time but for now it is still a work in progress. In the meantime, mom sometimes puts a muzzle on me and although it doesn’t bother me at all I prefer, of course, not to wear it so my new family will need to commit to working with me on training. Muzzle training may make me look scary, but it allows me to safely meet and work on my training so I can be happy!  After all, consistency, patience, loving encouragement, and LOTS of mental and physical stimulation are the keys to my success!!! I am good with older kids, cats, and other dogs; and my favorite activities include going on my daily leashed walks or car rides; hiking; exploring; eating treats like plain Greek yogurt or pumpkin; playing with small squeaky toys and other dogs; chewing on Benebones; and running zoomies in the yard so the yard at my new home will need to be fenced! Hee, hee!! I also hope to have a small, confident doggie companion who might help me overcome some of my anxiety about strangers!!! By the way, I almost forgot to mention that I am a prodigy…no, really! I know everything from how to do my business outside to a deluge of commands like “sit”, “down”, “come”, “kennel/crate”, “wait”, “leave it”, “outside”, and “go potty”!! Thankfully, I enjoy learning, especially when I have a strong, confident, respectful leader, and I really love pleasing my people!! Anyway, foster mom says that I am the “most affectionate” dog she’s ever met and as hard as I try, I simply cannot disagree with her! Hee, hee!! All I need in my life now is YOU…a patient, unconditionally loving forever family who will not only NEVER give up on me but will commit to helping me overcome my fears!! I promise that not only am I totally worth it, but I will enrich your life in ways you could never imagine!!! Love, Benji Some of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. Others have come from various situations where they are lacking confidence in humans. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.   This dog has received grooming with us at Underdog Rescue, but was likely neglected of grooming attention until he came into our care.  It can sometimes take months to get their coat healthy as Doodle mixes require daily brushing.  Grooming appointments occur every 3 months and cost on average of $150 per appointment.  Adopters should be prepared for such expenses.  Underdog Rescue cannot guarantee the non-shedding or hypoallergenic qualities of this dog.    ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hey there, wonderful humans! I'm Kiwi, the pint-sized dynamo with a heart full of love and a zest for life. Let me give you the lowdown on the awesomeness that is me: Picture this – shades of brown and cream, one ear perpetually popped up, and eyes that tell stories – one blue and one brown. Yep, that's me, a young Mini Aussie turning heads wherever I go! Now, here's the thing – they say I'm a bit hard of hearing, but I've got my own language. I have a slight hearing loss due to being born with hydrocephalus.  We think I can hear deeper sounds, but not higher pitches. Silent hand claps for applause (and belly rubs, of course), gentle taps on the ribs for attention, and some cool hand signals like thumbs up for SIT and a wave for "come on down." I'm mastering the art of communication!  I am sometimes a bit unsteady on my feet and circle around when stimulated - that's some of my hydrocephalus showing.  But, there are no long term needs known at this time.  I might have some uniqueness, but it makes me special! Life's a classroom, and I'm here to soak it all in. I do require a fenced yard in my forever home AND need to be leashed in the yard until I understand when my people want me to come inside. My people said when we go on walks, it is best for me to be double leashed as I am skittish and a flight risk. She says “Safety First” before we go outside. When I meet new people, I am a little nervous and need some time to warm up. There are so many new things to see and sniff, I get a little overwhelmed. I am always excited to go home play with my toys. I have Crocky, Bunny, Mousey, Ropey and Bully – I like toys that are tuff so I can chew and chase with them. We recently started playing frisbee – I understand the chase part and we are working on the return part – hee hee! Hopefully my forever family will keep practicing with me. My people said that I am growing and learning so much – they are calling them “light bulb moments” because you can actually see it when I am excited and understand something new. They said I would be a good candidate to try out agility, fly ball or rat hunting because I am a high energy dog with an active mind. Did I mention my love for food? It's basically everything, and I'm open to culinary adventures! Except chicken, that sometime gives me tummy rumbles – ick. Also, sometimes I get crabby if there is another dog around at mealtime, I would suggest that meals are served in a kennel. My people have a puzzle food toy that I LOVE, foster mom says it is a great way to help me slow down and focus at mealtimes. We are also working on kennel training. So far, I prefer a wire kennel over a plastic kennel. And foster mom has been letting me sleep in the bed. Although I tend to get into things so she keeps me on a leash, even during sleepy time! Again, safety first! Potty training is a work in progress, my people said I am a whirling dervish when nature calls – hee hee. I definitely have a “signal” if you are paying attention! Typical of my breed, I would thrive in a home that will keep my mind and body active, give me a job and keep me busy. I think obedience school or agility training would be a fantastic way to bond and learn new things. My people said that I am very smart and started counter surfing and exploring into things I shouldn’t, kinda like a toddler (hee hee) so they provide supervision and things for me to do. I may be a tiny tot, but I've got a big heart and a spirit ready for adventures. If you're up for teaching, loving, and navigating life together, let's make it happen! I'm here, ready to become the most awesome dog you've ever known.  Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.  This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses.  Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.  Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a   particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.     ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Story
Hi! I'm Martha! I'm from Kentucky. I am about 2 years old and 40 pounds. From her foster: Here are a few things about Martha: She is full of energy! And is reactive to rabbits and squirrels when out on a walk. When she sees rabbits and squirrels she pulls hard on the leash and barks, so she needs more leash training. She will play with her squeaky toys by herself and will run around the house and shake them. Martha is very loveable and is very good in the house. She cuddles up to you whenever you sit on the couch. She also likes to look out the doors and windows and will jump on the doors when she gets excited. Martha gets about 4 walks a day, one being just before bedtime. Her bedtime walk is usually about half an hour, and she still has energy, she gets what we call the zoomies, she runs around the house playing with her toys, and then she likes to jump on the bed. This lasts about 10 minutes, and she settles down. Martha will sleep on the bed with you if it is not too warm. Martha has not meet cats, and she loves meeting new people and dogs. She will play with other dogs but does much better when off leash. We have not let her outside without being on a leash. She is house trained, and we have not noticed any separation anxiety. Martha has not met any children, that we know of, but she is not scared of men or women. ( ** Martha has now meet children, and does not have any issues.) PREVIOUS POST: Martha is a very energetic, playful girl. She wants to play with EVERYONE, including squirrels, people, and other dogs. She has so much love to give and will quite literally climb into your lap and give you all the kisses and cuddles. She loves the water and will jump into the stream/lake on hikes and runs. She does not like baths. She does really well in her crate or even in a safe room, but will whine if she sees you nearby...she just wants to be with you! Dog friends who she can play with are a plus in an adoptive home as she likes company and they will help her get out her energy! She will need some training for leash walking and needs corrections for barking or pulling. However, she is a quick learner and responds to a stern "no" and a "yes" (and a couple of treats as well!). She needs stability to calm her anxiety and someone who will lead her with strong guidance.

Story
Hi! I'm Twist! I am from Missouri! Twist is 100% typical and lovable puppy! He is incredibly smart and is learning very quickly. He has a decent sit under his belt with hopefully more commands to come. He already listens when we tell him 'no' and is pretty easily redirected and is starting to come to his name! In the short time we've had him he's been super goofy and very playful, full of rambunctious puppy energy, usually followed by a flop and a nap. He definitely will be more suited to an active family, or one that will give him a job (he does have some herding tendencies!). We think he would make an incredible agility dog. He's done well meeting new people including kids, and new dogs. Cats are unknown. Potty training is a work in progress but he does very well on a schedule and if you're paying attention watching for the signs he needs to go (about 4 hours is his max right now between potty breaks). He does still get up at least once overnight to go out to potty, so don't expect a full nights sleep just yet! Give him a few months and he'll be ready for that. He sleeps well in a crate in our room overnight and one in the kitchen when we're gone. He loves toys and zoomies, is a star at couch parkour, and loves to squeak and shred his toys. When he's finished with that, he LOVES a good snuggle and pets, and is very affectionate with his people. He does jump up on people when he's excited at this point, but is slowly learning that he doesn't get attention that way-only when he has all four feet on the floor. He also has some typical puppy mouthiness but is easily redirected. He can be a little anxious with big noises at first, but we've been continuing to expose him to much as possible (we've conquered the vacuum and the lawn mower!). Once he knows it's ok, he moves on pretty quickly. This little tornado will make a great addition to most families, and he can't wait to keep learning how to be his best self with you!

Hi! I'm Twirl! I am from Missouri. From her foster: Twirl is a sweet, beautiful, smart young pup. Since being here she has had one acccident and that was in the first hour of arriving so does it count? Twirl loves walks and exploring outside. She likes her people and loves to snuggle up for a nap. She is a puppy therefore still understanding what she can/ can't chew. Direct her to a bone or toy and she is golden! She likes to play and hangout with her foster siblings so other dogs should be okay. No exposure to cats so not sure how that would go although she is truly so sweet I can't see it being a problem. Twirl is an amazing pup and will make someone a wonderful companion/ family dog!
