You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please check below to see what upcoming adoption events I will be attending or apply here for a private meeting.  If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***   DOB:  06/05/2021 Requires another dog in home: Yes, a confident dog Okay with dogs of all sizes: Smaller dogs only Okay with cats: Yes Okay with children under 12 years old: No Weight: 20 pounds  Requires a fenced yard:  Yes Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area.  Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hello, my name is Benji! I am a very handsome young adult male Mini Aussiedoodle who doesn’t like a lot of commotion, but I love to cuddle, and I prefer women. Truth is, I am highly sensitive and reactive to ‘stranger danger’! That’s right, I react to people approaching the front door, coming into the house, and even people approaching my kennel. I know…it’s not something I’m proud of but I’m working on it…really, I am!! In fact, foster mom is trying to help me associate new people (strangers) with positive outcomes and I am confident that I will be successful in time but for now it is still a work in progress. In the meantime, mom sometimes puts a muzzle on me and although it doesn’t bother me at all I prefer, of course, not to wear it so my new family will need to commit to working with me on training. Muzzle training may make me look scary, but it allows me to safely meet and work on my training so I can be happy!  After all, consistency, patience, loving encouragement, and LOTS of mental and physical stimulation are the keys to my success!!! I am good with older kids, cats, and other dogs; and my favorite activities include going on my daily leashed walks or car rides; hiking; exploring; eating treats like plain Greek yogurt or pumpkin; playing with small squeaky toys and other dogs; chewing on Benebones; and running zoomies in the yard so the yard at my new home will need to be fenced! Hee, hee!! I also hope to have a small, confident doggie companion who might help me overcome some of my anxiety about strangers!!! By the way, I almost forgot to mention that I am a prodigy…no, really! I know everything from how to do my business outside to a deluge of commands like “sit”, “down”, “come”, “kennel/crate”, “wait”, “leave it”, “outside”, and “go potty”!! Thankfully, I enjoy learning, especially when I have a strong, confident, respectful leader, and I really love pleasing my people!! Anyway, foster mom says that I am the “most affectionate” dog she’s ever met and as hard as I try, I simply cannot disagree with her! Hee, hee!! All I need in my life now is YOU…a patient, unconditionally loving forever family who will not only NEVER give up on me but will commit to helping me overcome my fears!! I promise that not only am I totally worth it, but I will enrich your life in ways you could never imagine!!! Love, Benji Some of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. Others have come from various situations where they are lacking confidence in humans. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.   This dog has received grooming with us at Underdog Rescue, but was likely neglected of grooming attention until he came into our care.  It can sometimes take months to get their coat healthy as Doodle mixes require daily brushing.  Grooming appointments occur every 3 months and cost on average of $150 per appointment.  Adopters should be prepared for such expenses.  Underdog Rescue cannot guarantee the non-shedding or hypoallergenic qualities of this dog.    ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.   ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.   FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.   NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.   YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Story
Welcome Serenity to CCPAL Rescue. She is a 1.5-year-old Australian Shepherd mixed dog. She weighs about 45 pounds. She is deaf and only has minor sight in one eye. She gets around like she has all senses completely intact. She is very sweet with all people. She was born without hearing and much sight so she has learned to adapt and when you see her play with other dogs you would not really know. She is great with other dogs her size and gets along in a play group with dogs that are more dominant and bossier. She can go with children. We would like them to be 10 or older. Someone patient with her and gentle in the handling will love this dog. She wants to do what you want and she is gentle, sweet and willing to learn. She is smart and adores attention and being touched. She has a soft coat and not a huge shedder. She would be a great companion for an older couple, older single or someone that is looking for a nice friendly companion. She is good on a leash and follows scent of her person easily. She bonds deeply and quickly. We all love this dog at the Rescue and would really be happy to see her find her forever home. She was found as a stray in Texas and has been with the rescue waiting for her forever home. She is healthy and up on her vaccinations and spayed. She can be adopted locally in Texas or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is 300 and transport is 200. . Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Hi!  I’m Quoll!  Being only 3 months old, I am full of energy, so I am ready for whatever adventures await me.  My foster moms constantly talk about how smart I am, and how much I love to learn new things. I have taken very quickly to kennel training.  I not only eat and sleep in my kennel, but I love it so much that I can be found just chilling in there between play sessions.  I am working hard on my potty training, and thrive on praise.  The parties that we have when I potty outside are so much fun that I don’t even expect a treat. I am learning a routine from the other dogs in my foster home, and that helps a lot.  Speaking of my foster home; I get to hang out with a 2 year old human, who I am wonderful with, and dogs of all sizes, who I love to play with.  I am still learning boundaries, so sometimes the other dogs give me corrections, which I take very well. I will want a human who makes sure I continue to learn to be respectful and polite. I am a puppy and will take a mile of you give me inch.  I am the perfect companion for someone who wants to explore during the day, and Netflix at night. I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. If you are looking for a best friend, please fill out the puppy application. The more info you include on the application the better so I can find a good match for my forever home. Get your toy box ready! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters.  Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter.  Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized.  If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.  This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses.  Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.  Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a   particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.       This puppy requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.    We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Do you have a nickname?  I do.  It’s “Fi-Fi.”  My fosters think I must be French being I have been known to occasionally “French kiss” them when I’m giving sweet kisses.  What’s a girl to do.  Hahaha! Being I’m still a puppy, there are so many things I like that it’s hard to choose.  So, I’ll just tell you that it’s everything except being in my kennel.  Currently, my fosters realized that using an X-pen with me is better for me.  I really like playing with other dogs, chewing, snuffle mats and treat dispensers. Also, I don't mind the resident cat.  We are working on all the important puppy skills including leash walking. With a little more practice I will be a champion! I probably need to tell you that I bark in my kennel.  So maybe no shared walls. We are doing great on potty training and with a good schedule I am getting on a routine.  I am also learning new words! I know sit, come, leave-it and outside. Pretty smart, right?! Give me a chance to show you my adorable self and watch my tail spin like a propeller!  I’ll even snuggle up with you or my foster furblings until I get too hot and then need to escape to another spot to cool off.  I’m a very smart girl! I know when you take me to puppy school that I will be a quick study and we will learn a lot together.  I am really looking forward to finding a forever family that will take me on adventures and teach me new things! *I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Foster mom is teaching me so many cool things all the time. I am crate trained and I LOOOVE belly rubs! I would do great with an active family that likes to go on hikes, adventures and give me lots of chewy toys and stimulate my growing mind! Please fill out an adoption application found at haydudeequine.org The adoption fee is $450.00 which includes their transport, spay/neuter and all vetting. Hickory - You are the bridge between what was and what will be, my pathway to a new life! My stunning two toned reddish brown coat got me the name Hickory. The wood from the tree is strong but flexible also contributing to my name. I'm pretty flexible tending to go with the flow. As a youngster of about a year old I'm just an oversized boy with the heart of a puppy that will delight you with my antics keeping a smile on your face. With daily exercise and play time I'm sure to be a wonderful addition to a family. My medium size is just perfect for outdoor adventures. We'll have a blast, from calm to wild, leisurely strolls to mountain climbing, wading in the creek to swimming in the lake, from tossing the ball to throwing a frisbee, from errand runs to sight seeing cruises. If you can think it, I want to try it!!! I'm sweet and friendly with people and get along with the other foster pups here. I sure would love a playful sibling to share all those pawsome activities! I am also house and crate trained. I haven't met any cats yet so I'm not sure how I'd do with them. Are you looking for a constant in your life that is eager to share in not only your adventures but in your everyday life as well? Someone who will have your back no questions asked? I AM THAT BOY!!!

We are Olive and Owen, two doggos learning to trust and love life. We're searching for a loving forever home where we stay together, as we've always done. Our journey so far has been a bumpy one, we were used for backyard breeding and then abandoned, leaving us utterly scared. Despite those dark times, we've grown stronger than ever before, supporting each other through thick and thin. Olive here, I'm your ultimate cuddle partner; I'd drown you with love all day long! I'm the nurturing one. And guess who looks up to me for comfort and security? That's right, it's Owen. He's been my rock, just as I've been his. Oh and Owen? He's a bit reserved at first, likes to know you better before opening up his adorable heart to you. Don't mistake his withdrawn nature for lack of fun - with time, he'll reveal his silly side and will never say no to some belly rubs! We've learned multiple skills including walking on leash, house manners and most importantly, we're kennel trained and housebroken. Oh, did we mention we both love hanging out with other dogs and cats? Life has thrown us some hard times, but we've faced them all with resilience. We've been each other's rock and we will carry this strength into our new home. We hope to find a loving family who will shower us with love and care, just like we will do in return. Can’t wait to meet you! Olive and Owen are around 6 years old and weigh about 30lbs. They are both Australian Shepherds. They are both spay/neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. And both are currently on flea and heartworm preventative.

Story
Hi! My name is Moana and I am an owner surrender. This special needs beautiful little girl has made wonderful strides in the 2 months that I've had her. She's getting stronger bit by bit. She is personality plus! She loves to snuggle, loves to play and just gets sooo very excited when you talk to her, get down on the floor to play with her and if the big resident dogs are even just near her. She has a feisty side, too, and does not like to be left out of anything!! She is making great progress in potty training and she'll usually vocally alert you-day or night- when she has to go...but know that she'll still have some accidents. At this point, she doesn't have the coordination to be upright to eat on her own so I still hold her securely in my lap to feed her several small meals a day and also to keep her hydrated (I soak her kibble and still give her some soft food. She will not drink straight water so we are still working on that and by soaking her kibble, it flavors the water and she'll drink it to get to the kibble.) She loves all people and dogs. She hasn't had contact with cats yet that I know of. She'll need flat, safe surfaces when she's in her wheels. She does best on carpets or rugs or grass when upright in her harness to practice balance, strength and walking. She'll need to continue strengthening her muscles and working on her balance. At this point, she cannot get up from the floor on her own. Once she's on her side, she can only move around by scratching/shuffling. She does great for car rides. She sleeps nicely in her soft sided kennel at night, only alerting me by whimpering once or twice per night that she has to go out to potty. She is one of the happiest pups that I've ever fostered and will give her forever family sooooo much love!! From the vet team: Hello! I arrived at Secondhand Hounds as part of the Fighter Fund program due to my Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH) diagnosis. CH is a condition resulting from inadequate development of the cerebellum which causes lack of balance/coordination, ambulating, head bobbing, tremors, etc. The SHH Vet Team has provided my foster with physical therapy exercises to help gain strength but I will always have this condition. I have a wheel chair and a harness to help with movement but it is also recommended that my future adopter lay down rubber mats to help with my movement. My future adopter should understand my condition and monitor my health with a primary veterinarian. Also, I have an upcoming surgery with an opthamologist due to ablation of eyelashes which will freeze and kill the hair follicles to help prevent regrowth of these abnormal hairs. This surgery and eye recheck appointment will be covered by SHH as long as it is performed at Animal Eye Speciality Center/Secondhand Hounds Vet Center.

These pups are in St Louis Park, Minnesota too!

Story
Welcome Hamilton to CCPAL Foster Program. Hamilton is a 10-month-old Border Collie/Miniature Pinscher mixed dog. He weighs about 25 pounds. He may fill out some but shouldn’t be much taller. He has the Border Collie colors but a shorter coat. He is very attentive and he currently is in foster care with 3 children and other dogs. He is the more dominant boy in the group. He has long legs and will be able to keep a good stride. He is moderately vocal and would be best in a home without shared walls. He is fine in a car and is crated and did fine. He is good with other dogs and kids. We like all children to be 8 or older even though he successfully lives with a smaller child now. He would be best in an active home and would be fine with another dog. He will be neutered soon and get his vaccines and be ready for his forever home. We would like someone who has had a working breed even if he is on 50% Border Collie. He will be a great walking or jogging partner and has long legs to help keep stride. We don’t see any of the herding tendencies yet but he may have some of those. People love the Border Collie Breed so we think he will get lots of interest and applications. Please put in an application and we will get back with you. What you see in the video is exactly the way this precious dog behaves regularly. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport fee is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Story
Welcome Cheyenne to CCPAL Rescue. Cheyenne is a 13-week-old Border Collie mix. The momma dog is a pure bred Border Collie. Thes pups should be 40 pounds full grown is our best estimate. The other parent is a mystery. The momma is a farm dog and herds the goats. Cheyenne has medium length coat and it is nice and soft. The pups like water, are affectionate and smart. They were good getting their bath and Cheyenne is soft and quiet when you pick her up. The two girls in this litter are smaller than the boys and a lot less energetic. She has the beautiful longer coat like the Border Collie. We would like someone who has owned the working breed or a border collie. People who have had a BC do love this breed. She is good in her litter playing and is less energetic than the boys. Today she got her first round of vaccines and her Nexgard. She will be loved on by the kennel workers here at the shelter until she finds her new home. She was turned in by the person that had the female Border Collie. These pups are precious and would be fine with children or other dogs. We like the children to be 8 or older. She is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Welcome Austin to CCPAL Rescue. Austin is a 13-week-old Border Collie mix. He is the one in the litter that looks most like a Border Collie. The momma dog is a pure-bred Border Collie. Austin is one of the bigger pups in the litter. All the boys are bigger than the girls. He is the least active boy. These pups should be 47 pounds full grown is our best estimate. The other parent is a mystery. The momma is a farm dog and herds the goats. Austin has medium length coat and it is nice and soft. The pups like water, are affectionate and smart.
