From Sneaker's Foster mom: I have a never-ending list of wonderful things to say about Miss Sneakers! First and foremost, she is incredibly sweet and responds wonderfully to training. She’s not only treat-motivated, but also thrives on praise—which is so easy to give, because she’s truly a good girl. She’s completely potty trained and adapts well to both a house or apartment lifestyle. Sneakers already knows several commands: sit, lay down, off, wait, and—of course—“good girl.” She’s gentle with her toys and prefers stuffed animals over puzzle toys. Her favorite snacks are biscuits, bully sticks, and meat treats—though she’s not a fan of peanut butter. She gets plenty of exercise with 2–3 walks a day (plus some running!) to help burn off energy. Behavior & Socialization: Sneakers is considered reactive, meaning she gets nervous around new people and may bark to try and keep them away. But in the short time I’ve had her, she’s already shown amazing progress with consistent, positive exposure—especially in outdoor spaces like parks, where she can take things at her own pace. She simply needs time and patience to build trust. Once she does, she bonds deeply. ‍ Bonds quickly with women ‍ Slower to trust men Would do best in a home with older kids (she’s a little jumpy and sensitive about her tail) No cats due to prey drive (not officially tested) Best as the only dog—she’s shown nervous behavior around others Her Ideal Home: Sneakers needs a calm, structured home with patient humans who’ll give her space and support as she decompresses. Once she feels safe, she is the sweetest soul. She loves: Tummy rubs Hand-holding (yes, really!) Walks in the park Sunbathing Taking treats ever so gently She’s a total mama’s girl, and I know she’ll thrive in the right adoptive home—one that sees the loving, loyal dog she already is. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption. The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. Meet Allie, a 2019 edition of a party colored Australian Shepherd x Border Collie weighing in at 42 lbs. This beautiful gal came to NWMNAR because her previous owner had to leave abroad to help take care of in-laws and could not take Allie with. Allie loves going to obedience class and showing how smart she is. Allie needs an Aussie savy owner whom can outsmart her. She is best with dogs the same size, she has prey drive towards rabbits and may not do well with cats or other smaller animals possibly including smaller tiny dogs. Allie takes time with strangers and will often back away barking. Allie has been scared of men with hats in the past. She can be a bit barky towards other dogs on walks, but has been learning to play nice. She can be dominant towards other dogs. Allie doesn't like plastic crates, but does just fine in wire crate. Allie must be crated in a vehicle otherwise she will run around in a vehicle pushing window switches until she gets out. Allie is best to go for a walk before a car ride to ensure she doesn't nervous defecate in the vehicle. Allie hides and sleeps under the bed to keep the monsters away. Allie does like to vocalize herself if she sees other dogs outside when she is gazing out the windows. She has just started to play with toys and gets groomed twice a week with a brush. Because NWMNAR is not a public shelter, meet and greets do not take place until an application has been approved and a home visit has been completed in person or virtually. Capp is a small mini. She is fearful but learning to trust while living with her foster. Loud noises and quick movements, send her running. She loves to spend the day with her foster while her foster works from home, often laying a few feet away. She is crate and house trained. She gets along well with dogs and isn't interested in cats. She is learning to walk on a leash outside. She gets nervous when she is away from the backyard but she is trying to get better about walking. She creeps to you for pets....she loves when you pet her. She will sit close enough for you to reach her but not fully in your lap. She needs someone that is interested in building trust with her so that she eventually feels at home and will give in 100% to you. She is making progress with her foster. She loves mealtime. Food makes her wiggle her butt like she should be wiggling it! Unafraid and totally trusting of the person giving it to her.
