From Sneaker's Foster mom: I have a never-ending list of wonderful things to say about Miss Sneakers! First and foremost, she is incredibly sweet and responds wonderfully to training. She’s not only treat-motivated, but also thrives on praise—which is so easy to give, because she’s truly a good girl. She’s completely potty trained and adapts well to both a house or apartment lifestyle. Sneakers already knows several commands: sit, lay down, off, wait, and—of course—“good girl.” She’s gentle with her toys and prefers stuffed animals over puzzle toys. Her favorite snacks are biscuits, bully sticks, and meat treats—though she’s not a fan of peanut butter. She gets plenty of exercise with 2–3 walks a day (plus some running!) to help burn off energy. Behavior & Socialization: Sneakers is considered reactive, meaning she gets nervous around new people and may bark to try and keep them away. But in the short time I’ve had her, she’s already shown amazing progress with consistent, positive exposure—especially in outdoor spaces like parks, where she can take things at her own pace. She simply needs time and patience to build trust. Once she does, she bonds deeply. ‍ Bonds quickly with women ‍ Slower to trust men Would do best in a home with older kids (she’s a little jumpy and sensitive about her tail) No cats due to prey drive (not officially tested) Best as the only dog—she’s shown nervous behavior around others Her Ideal Home: Sneakers needs a calm, structured home with patient humans who’ll give her space and support as she decompresses. Once she feels safe, she is the sweetest soul. She loves: Tummy rubs Hand-holding (yes, really!) Walks in the park Sunbathing Taking treats ever so gently She’s a total mama’s girl, and I know she’ll thrive in the right adoptive home—one that sees the loving, loyal dog she already is. I love attention and cuddles, but also choose to spend time in my kennel when I’m tired from playing. I warm up to people very fast and I am very adventurous! At night, I am very well behaved, I sleep in my covered kennel without whining and even hold my potty till morning! I’m still being potty trained and have some accidents here and there but I’m trying my very best and learning to stand in front of the door when i need to go out! I am gaining confidence walking on a leash and sit well, but I am still timid walking near busy streets. I am learning how to live with cats and find them fascinating. From his foster: Bentley is a curious and energetic boy who can be a little timid when he first meets you, but after a couple of days he really starts to get comfortable. He loves to go on walks and run around the yard, play fetch and lay on the couch with you. Bentley is also very receptive to training cues, especially when given a treat. Bentley would thrive with someone who is patient, willing to continue training, and active. Bentley has shown a lot of improvement with his back, he seems to have no issue being pet there anymore. Bentley is also a little sneaky and will try to slip through gaps in the door when he can to go outside and run around, continued training is advised. From the Vet: When Bentley came for his first exam at The BB Vet Center he was sensitive to touch on his back. He doesn't show any signs of pain in his foster home and right now he is only on an omega-3 supplement for joint support and doing very well!

Hi, my name is Braveheart and I am from Texas! From his foster: Braveheart is such a sweetheart. He’s loves to play and has tons of energy. He can be shy at first but opens up quickly. He's a chewer and will need some redirection but loves toys. He is still working on potty training. He does great with other dogs, wants to play, but is pretty submissive when the bigger dogs have had too much. Cats, he is curious, and may chase/bark at them as he’s still learning. He is working on his crate training as well. He does know how to sit and is very treat motivated so I think he’ll be easy to train! He is learning leash training and will now sit while we put the leash on to go outside. He also is bigger than he knows and can be a bit jumpy and mouthy with little kids, but with proper training he will likely do fine!

Berlioz (meaning "little bear") just joined The Rescue Crew on Saturday, January 10. He came to us after being rescued by one of our partner organizations after being picked up as a stray, along with his brother Toulouse, on the PineRidge Reservation. Check back often for updates as we get to know these boys better. Berlioz is settling into his foster home well. The first few days were filled with uncertainty as he made the long drive to Minnesota, was separated from his brother, and spent his first night alone. Now, he is starting to explore in earnest and finding his routine. Berlioz prefers to have company, human or canine (no info on cats). He is also a world-class snuggler who likes to give hugs, kisses, and sit in laps. As he gets more comfortable, we are seeing typical puppy boundary testing and a strong intellect. Berlioz loves toys, puzzles, and trying to outsmart everyone else. He is a ton of fun and will be an excellent sidekick or companion for anyone looking for a pup who will play hard, then crawl into your lap to sleep.
