Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $350 plus taxPeggy Lee is a smart and spirited mix of shepherd/herding and working breeds, and judging solely by some of her entertaining vocalizations, sea lion and Tasmanian devil. She seems to be always thinking and noticing. She takes time to warm up to people, but once she does, she cannot get enough belly rubs and snuggles. She loves car rides, naps in the yard, trips to the dog park, walks, and any other adventures. She would probably be a happy boating dog. Peggy Lee has so much affection to give. She wants nothing more than to love and be loved. When I tell her she’s a good girl, her tail just thumps on the floor in pure happiness. She entertains herself with chew toys and loves a good squeaker. As a strong and athletic dog, she benefits from an opportunity to run and play every day. Peggy Lee sleeps soundly at night at the foot of the bed. She needs the company of another confident and interactive dog in her home. She is overly obsessed with cats, and very vocal about it, so she needs a cat-free home. Hazel really is a special kind of dog who is just what someone out there is seeking. If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $350 plus taxAbout Lulu:  If you're looking for an energetic, loyal, affectionate companion, Lulu is the girl for you! Lulu came from a chaotic household, so it may take her some time to understand she can relax and just be a dog in your home,  but when she does she loves loves loves her people and loves to give constant affection. She can't contain her wiggles when she sees her people and she has been working on sitting patiently to wait for pets. Lulu is an intelligent breed mix, so she needs a strong, confident owner who can lead her and give her fun challenges to keep her brain busy. She is always up for learning a new trick or going on a nature walk with you.    Lulu's Training:  Lulu loves to learn! She already knows 'sit', 'down', 'off', 'come', and is working on 'shake'. While on walks, Lulu is learning to stay calm and learning that she doesn't have to let us know every time she sees a dog or person. She also has a loud bark when she first meets someone but she warms up with time and realizes they are just another person to pet her! Lulu would do best in a home with no small children as they make her nervous. Lulu has had no accidents in the house so far and even goes up to 9 hours in her kennel overnight without an accident. She is adjusting to spending time in her kennel alone and with a peanut butter kong or a bone, she keeps herself busy and then falls right asleep. When she does get nervous in her kennel, we give her calming chews to help her relax. She does fine with our resident dog but gets so excited about her toys and her people that she doesn't like to share. She would do best as the only dog in the household or with a patient, confident dog who can teach her how to share her favorite things. Overall, she is making excellent progress with her training and is always eager to please, so she really enjoys taking direction. You don't even need treats sometimes because her favorite reward is just some good ol' pets!  If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com  to reactivate your application with new interest.       Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Hi everyone! My name is Alexis but my foster family calls me Lexi. I’m about a 5 1/2 year old mini Aussie with a heart of gold. I can be very shy when I first meet you but will warm up quickly. I'm unsure of my foster dogs and ignores the cats completely. I am potty trained and will go to the door or pace when i need to go out. I only had one accident but my foster mom thinks it’s because I was so scared. I love being outside. I have a fenced in yard so haven’t had much experience on a leash yet. I greet people when they come to visit and love the compliments and pets i get. Unsure of how she’d handle children. I haven’t been around little kids but I don’t like loud noises so I don’t think I’d do very good. I’m a snuggle bug and will give kisses, if you ask. I will go into my kennel but I prefer to be where my people are. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, dental, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Hi, I’m Moose! I’m a herding breed mix of some kind born 10/7/23!  My siblings and I just moved to Minnesota from Lake Traverse, MI!  I am very energetic and always looking to play!  I’m friendly with everyone; adults, kids, dogs, cats.  Any person I meet immediately becomes my best friend!  I bark sometimes when other dogs are playing rambunctiously or when I get scared.  I like to make my foster mom laugh by talking back to her when she tells me to be quiet.  I typically prefer to be cuddled up with my people.  I am still learning how to go potty outside and do well on a schedule.  I sleep in my crate, and I am quiet at night.  I’ve mastered leash walking but want to sniff EVERYTHING on my walks.  If you’re interested in meeting me, let me know!  I’d love to meet you!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Little Miss Molly is a super sweet Aussie who was born 7/23/23. She came from a dirty, neglectful situation causing her to lose some hair on her face and legs from itching. She's getting healthy and happy and will soon be all fluffy and look adorable with a black and white face! Molly has some separation anxiety but sleeps all night in her kennel but only if able to see you, or she will bark and cry. During the day she does not do well for long in her kennel, but instead loves to curl up on her own bed napping or quietly playing with toys in her foster mom's office while she works. Her favorite time of the day is when the kids (4 & 6) are home from school. She loves to lick their faces and wants to play, but gets a little nippy trying to get attention, but not painfully and does well with correction so she's learning fast. Molly is food motivated and will sit for a treat and will take it so politely. She loves belly rubs and getting her fluffy fur stroked while laying next to you on the couch. She is still a puppy so loves chewing on toys or things the kids leave on the floor, but always gracefully gives them back when taken away. Molly is mostly potty trained with some minor accidents as she learns to tell us. She does well on a leash but loves being in the backyard, watching the birds, squirrels, and bunnies. She is learning to come when called if treats are involved! Molly does well with other dogs but loves to be around everyone in the family. She's a lovable puppy ready to meet her forever family!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Meet Marti! Marti is a 5 year old, neutered, double merle, male, who came to us almost completely feral. He is a slightly pudgy 40 pounds, crate trained, house broke (but still leaks a little urine when sleeping although we haven't tried medication for that yet as it has been improving). As he is double merle he has some vision issues as well. Marti will need a very special owner that is willing to give him plenty of time to learn to trust. At his foster home Marti gets along with other dogs, is great with cats, and walks off leash in a rural setting. Marti is that lower energy aussie everyone's looking for and would like a quiet home. Marti will need more training in cooperative Care which his foster is working on and is easy to implement. The details: Needs Fence: Depends on setting (needs to gain trust to be leashed, fence necessary in busier area) Good With Dogs: Yes Good With People: Needs patience Good with cats: Yes All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com. All dogs have an adoption fee of $300 plus MN sales tax. We pride ourselves on matches that are awesome for both the dog and your family. Story
Hi my name is Annie, I was found wandering around out in the country. My current fosters have no knowledge of my previous living conditions. As far as my personality goes, I tend to be very high strung and anxious especially when my foster's teenage children are present. Their presence has complicated my potty training with my anxiety. Although I do sleep in my kennel all night long and only make noise if I have to go to the bathroom. During the day I hang out in my playpen if I get stressed. I will often go to my safe spaces if stressed out. I do live with 2 foster dogs, a 50lbs husky mix and a 20lbs terrier mix and I love to play with both. My fosters have been attempting to work on my training, however I am not motivated. I love going for walks and wrestling with my foster siblings. I am going to need a special home, most likely with our children, but would love some doggy brothers or sisters. My special somebody will need to be very patient with my training because even though I am almost 2, I am still learning to dog. Story
Meet Paul, a lovable 6-year-old dog with a heart full of hope and a tale to tell. Paul's journey began on the streets of St. Paul, where he wandered as a stray, searching for something familiar. After his stray hold period was up, he was brought into rescue, where his gentle nature and friendly demeanor quickly endeared him to everyone he met. Paul is a people-person through and through. He thrives on human interaction and is always ready to offer a wagging tail and a warm snuggle. Whether it's greeting visitors with enthusiasm or curling up next to his favorite humans, Paul seeks attention and loves being the center of affection. His bright eyes and expressive face reflect his deep longing for companionship, hinting at the loving family he likely misses. In the company of other dogs, Paul is the picture of calm and composure. He coexists effortlessly, mostly choosing to ignore his canine companions. His peaceful demeanor makes him an excellent addition to any home, whether as a solo pet or alongside other dogs. Paul spends his days gazing out the window, watching the world go by. It’s as if he's waiting for someone he used to know, or perhaps reminiscing about happier times. Paul is ready to start a new chapter in a loving home that can offer him the attention and affection he craves. Story
Meet Tanner! Tanner is a red tri Australian Shepherd born on March 14, 2021, entered the world under challenging circumstances, coming from a dog hoarding situation. When he arrived at his current home on September 25, 2023, Tanner was thin and fearful, bearing the scars of neglect. Despite his difficult past, Tanner's story is one of resilience and the transformative power of love. Initially cautious and skittish, Tanner struggled to adjust to his new environment. Simple tasks like being leashed or venturing downstairs filled him with anxiety. However, with patience and understanding, Tanner slowly began to overcome his fears. Around unfamiliar humans, especially females, Tanner remains cautious and quick to retreat. Yet, in the presence of his trusted caregiver, a 62-year-old male, Tanner finds comfort and security. Despite his apprehension, Tanner possesses a gentle and affectionate heart. When he feels safe, he exhibits a chill and easygoing demeanor, enjoying the simple pleasures of lounging in the yard and watching squirrels from the deck. Tanner's journey to trust has been aided by the presence of canine companions in his foster home. While he may not engage in play, he finds comfort in their company, providing him with a sense of belonging. To ensure Tanner's continued growth and well-being, he requires a special kind of family. An older, male caregiver in a calm environment would be best suited to meet his needs. While his compatibility with children remains uncertain, Tanner may thrive in a home with older kids or no children at all. Despite the challenges he has faced, Tanner's journey serves as a testament to the power of love and resilience. With each passing day, he takes another step forward on his path to healing, reminding us all of the importance of patience, compassion, and second chances. Red can be your walking buddy. Red is very loyal to her people and her family, which makes meeting new people hard. She does well in her crate when the house gets too busy though. She is looking for a calm home to live her best life in. Red’s personality is very mellow, just like she likes her home. She does just fine with older kids (teenagers) and enjoys snuggling. She is a Velcro dog and would be a great work from home buddy. Red needs to be the only dog in her household. She would benefit greatly in a patient home that can help her socialize appropriately. Because of her fears, she needs a securely fenced yard to live her happiest life, and you'll see a different side of her when she's outside playing! She is potty trained and does well in a kennel for a full workday when you're gone. She's the easiest little girl because of her sweet demeanor and smartness. She keeps herself busy with toys during the day, so she'd be a great companion for anyone who works from home but is not required!  Once she's comfortable with you, we think she would be really great at agility or other training, too, so feel free to put her border collie abilities to the test! She gets really scared by sudden, loud noises and fast movements, so Addie would do best in a home without little kids. Other than that, she just wants all the love she can get from her people, dogs, and cats!  Adoption Fee: $595Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.INTERESTED IN MEETING ME? My name is Sir Nyx-A-Lot. I am a sweet, smiley, handsome boy who had a very rough first five years. Living in a home with people is a new experience for me but I am learning and have come a very long way in a short amount of time!   I am very shy around people, especially new people but that said, I don’t have a mean bone in my body. I greet my foster family with a big goofy growl like smile when they come home. They adore it! I really LOVE other dogs. In fact, I need a home with a confident dog to help me learn how to live the good life. I like to play with them and follow their lead. When they go to a human, I often follow to get a pet as well.   My foster family has been taking me on walks where I am gaining confidence. I very much enjoy walks and my foster mama says I'm a really good walker!   I sleep great in my crate or left out and I am potty trained.   I am looking for that amazing forever home with a confident pup and a fenced yard so I can continue growing my confidence and living my best life!   Adoption Fee:$325  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.INTERESTED IN MEETING ME?
