Skyler is a handsome 1 yr old Australian Shepherd. He weighs 56# - with beautiful coloring and soft brown eyes. He’s friendly, and has youthful energy. He wags his tail a lot, and gives sloppy slobbery kisses! He’s also very affectionate – will sit next to you forever if you will scratch his ears. I don’t think he’d ever get tired of it. Enjoys tummy rubs, too. Excellent snuggler. He’s very playful, happy and fun loving. He chases balls and retrieves them. He actually brings it right back to you and will even put it in your hand. Skyler is young, energetic, and has herding-dog instincts; with adults, he will sometimes nip at their hands when playing. This is not an aggressive gesture - it's his instinct to herd coming out in play. He has not done this with children. Very playful and needs a yard to run in – preference will be given to someone with a secure fenced area (He does not try to jump the fence). He really loves to fetch the tennis ball for you.........but if you don’t play with him, he entertains himself with the ball. He would really enjoy being paired with another playful dog. Skyler is highly motivated by treats - constantly sits for treats without even being prompted. He would do well with an active family. Learning to walk on leash – does best in harness -needs reminders not to pull when he sees squirrels and other dogs. Going to dog parks or the lake are exciting times for him, and he has a difficult time listening to you in these situations. Knows the commands to sit and stay, and appears to be a smart dog. Skyler is housetrained. He’s so well behaved that he has not been crated. Is good with other dogs, and reported to be good with cats (but we haven't tested this). Has been with older kids and did well, but no exposure to youngsters – he has a good disposition, and is gentle and loving, so might be OK with respectful kids 6 yr and up. He enjoys being with people as much as possible. Skyler is neutered, and current on distemper, rabies and bordetella vaccinations. His heartworm test is negative, and the microchip is registered to Second Chance. His adoption fee is $375. Call 651-771-5662 if you are interested in Skyler.

Riley is an easy going, low energy mini aussie , he is 10 yrs old, 27lbs. and has a heart murmur, and some enlargement of the heart. He is on medication and doing well. Vet did not say he has any exercise restrictions. He does have some arthritis in his front paw, so he has a limp. His favorite toy is a ball that he’s had since coming to rescue. Riley has good house manners, can be left without being kenneled, but will tolerate being in one if he is given a busy bone, or Kong. He currently sleeps on floor in bedroom. Riley can be selective when meeting strangers. He has been fine with both men and women he has met here. Not sure what triggers this. He has reactivity on walks also. At another foster he did pack walks and was fine. He’s good with other dogs, that are not looking for a playmate. He enjoys laying outside , he will bark at people but will stop when told its OK. A yard without a lot of foot traffic going by would be good. Has some anxiety in the car, and visiting the vet. Living in the metro area would be a plus, and willing to go to our vet in Elk River. Gordy is a 52 pound 5 1/2 year old male Australian shepherd. He is up for adoption because he does not do well with children, and his family recently had a baby. He would do best as an only dog as he does not like other dogs. Gordy loves walks and is very well behaved on a leash. He loves outside time and loves to chase squirrels and rabbits. He is athletic, high-energy, and loves to be active. Gordy is perfectly house trained and does not chew. He does very well in his crate and feels secure there. He is sweet, eager to please, and very food motivated. He comes from a loving and secure home and will be missed very much! All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. Bella is a 3 year old spayed female aussie who is between 45 and 50 pounds. Her family describes her as a very sweet cuddle bug. Unfortunately their resident GSD was not thrilled with the changes that occurred when she joined their family, so she needs to find a new home. She does fine with male dogs, no female dogs. She would enjoy being an only dog in the home. She is fine with cats as well. She needs a bit of patience as she can be nervous. If she thinks she was naughty and hears "Bella!" she may pee out of nervousness. They have observed some resource guarding towards the other dogs with food, but does fine if she can eat in her own space. She is being fostered in Bemidji, MN. Reason for rehoming is she has caused serious health and behavioral issues with our German shepherd. Almost like she stresses him out? Our GSD has started losing hair and peeing inside which he hasn’t done since he was 10 weeks old.

Meet Maisey, she is a 42# 6 year old female Blue Merle Aussie / Border Collie mix. She is up to date on all of her vaccinations. She is a typical velcro dog who is happiest being wherever you are. She is high energy, but does have an off switch and will sit quietly while you work. She has had free run of the house, and will tolerate, but does not like being crated. She loves car rides. She is 100% housebroken and has never destroyed anything by chewing, except a few (very squeaky) soft toys. Smart as a whip and knows all of the basic commands. She struggles a bit to sit as she had a major surgery a few years ago on one of her back legs. She has very good recall off leash. She loves and is well behaved in dog parks and does well on a leash. She is a sniffer, but not reactive to other dogs on walks if a reasonable distance is kept. She has a definite "stranger danger" mindset- but only when someone new is coming too near or into her house or too close to her car. Maisey needs to be in a one dog, adult only household. Her herding instinct is strong and within the past 18 months she has turned to herding, bullying and brawling with the older Aussie in the home. Meet Marti! Marti is a 5 year old, neutered, double merle, male, who came to us almost completely feral. He is a slightly pudgy 40 pounds, crate trained, house broke (but still leaks a little urine when sleeping although we haven't tried medication for that yet as it has been improving). As he is double merle he has some vision issues as well. Marti will need a very special owner that is willing to give him plenty of time to learn to trust. At his foster home Marti gets along with other dogs, is great with cats, and walks off leash in a rural setting. Marti is that lower energy aussie everyone's looking for and would like a quiet home. Marti will need more training in cooperative Care which his foster is working on and is easy to implement.
