Story
I am looking for a foster now If you can foster me please email fostersupport@thebondbetween.org Hi, my name is Autumn. I am from Arkansas. From her foster: Autumn was a new mom when found in the woods in Arkansas. She was named after the little girl who found her and snuck her food. Her puppies were about 10 days old when the family was rescued. They were fostered on a farm with cattle, goats, horses and cats. She was spayed before her move to Minnesota and now she will start her heartworm treatment. Autumn is thought to be 1.5 yrs old. She is very well behaved but every once and awhile her puppy side comes out! She gets the zoomies and wants to play! She is reactive to unknown males on walks but has lived with men in the home before, so will need slow introductions to ensure that she feels safe. She does resource guard food and toys from other animals so a no dog household would be best. Autumn loves everyone and will try to get attention from whoever will give it to her. She will give you a paw, drop and roll so she can get a tummy rub or try and join you on the couch! She cannot be trusted around unattended food. I have found undisturbed, empty plates or bowls that I thought were safe. Autumn does very well in a crate. She will even go lay in it with the door open. I have her sleep in a crate at night and when I leave the house and she doesn't complain at all. I also feed her in the crate so she doesn't finish her meal and go for anyone else's. I think Autumn would fit into any type of housing. She is quiet unless she hears other dogs and they get her going. I wish they were as quiet as she is!

Story
Hi! My name is Patty Mint and I am from Iowa. From her foster: Patty Mint has made so much progress in the month and a half that I have had her. She will go in and out of the house on her own. I let her roam the fenced-in yard and she can sniff as much as she wants. She is pretty good with the potty training. I try to make sure to let her out often and she does seem to whine in her pen or get up and pace when she needs to go out. The few accidents in the house have been due to me not reading her cues and thinking I have more time to get her outside. She really likes having another dog around. Patty and my resident dog will run around and chase each other in the backyard. We went to a brewery this weekend and while initially she was a little scared, it wasn't because of all the other dogs. I think she really enjoyed seeing them and was very engaged. She instigates play and will back away when my dog doesn't want her around her toys. I think it would be great for her to have another dog in the house, but I don't know if I would say it is a requirement. I do think she would enjoy having all the attention on her. If she is an only dog, making it a point to continue her exposure and socialization with other dogs would be key. Whether that's with playdates, doggie daycare or something else. Patty is at the point in the house where she will willingly go upstairs, but going down she still needs some encouragement. She does still pace around when she is trying to settle down. It will take her a few minutes before she will lay in the dog bed, but that is only when I am sitting on the couch or at my desk. If I am up and moving around the house, she will follow and pace. If I want her to rest while I am up and about, I will put her in her pen and she will immediately lay down in there. She does not go in a pen or kennel by herself, but once in she doesn't bark. She doesn't like to be outside by herself right now, even with my dog out there with her. I usually go out and make sure she potties and I have started going inside and leaving her for a few minutes. She usually just comes to the door and will whine or scratch to be let back in, occasionally she will start playing with my dog. I am trying to encourage that so she gets comfortable in the yard on her own. Walks are going well with Patty. She does not pull at all, in fact sometimes you have to pull her! She will still startle at loud noises on walks, but just needs some encouraging words to continue on our way. She likes to walk behind or right next to you, I have to be careful not to step on her when she gets too close! She does like when my dog comes on the walk with us and will follow what my dog does like stopping and sitting at intersections. We haven't done a whole lot with training because she was so scared and timid. I have been working on sit which is hit or miss with her. She does like treats once she gets a taste for them, so that will help. I do sometimes have to corner her in the yard or house if I need to be somewhere and she is not going in the house or to put her in her pen. She will avoid me as much as possible until I can get her to sit and let me pick her up. With more time, love and patience, Patty will continue to show her personality and gain confidence in being a dog. She is such a sweetheart and everyone we've met has commented on how sweet she is. She deserves to find her people and a forever home and is patiently waiting until that day comes.

I need a foster now! Please email fostersupport@thebondbetween.org if you can say Yes! Hi! My name is Dudley and I am from Arkansas. Meet Dudley, he is a sweet, quiet, loving gentleman.. Dudley is perfectly house trained on a schedule, with a record of zero accidents - He is content sleeping away the day and night and may get up to move to another napping spot or ask for a little head scratch but has not barked since he has been here. Being cuddled up in a blanket in his kennel is a favorite. Given his HW+ health he is slower then what you would think, so a little patience may be required if have you stairs - he will follow you from room to room if you let him. I am currently being treated for heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious so your resident pets are not at risk! The treatment for this is 3-4 months long and requires a minimum of 3 appointments and strict rest/restricted activity. My adoption can take place during treatment, while TBB manages the financial responsibility of my heartworm treatment at The Bond Between Vet Center. Any other medical care needed outside of the specific care covered in the contract disclaimer, would be the responsibility of my new family.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Want to meet me? Come to the Underdog Headquarters (3345 Dakota Ave, St. Louis Park, 55416) for an Adoption Event on Sunday, December 8th from 10:30-11:30 am. Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs.     Hello, my name is Benji! I am a very handsome young adult male Mini Aussiedoodle who doesn’t like a lot of commotion, but I love to cuddle, and I prefer women. Truth is, I am highly sensitive and reactive to ‘stranger danger’! That’s right, I react to people approaching the front door, coming into the house, and even people approaching my kennel. I know…it’s not something I’m proud of but I’m working on it…really, I am!! In fact, foster mom is trying to help me associate new people (strangers) with positive outcomes and I am confident that I will be successful in time but for now it is still a work in progress. In the meantime, mom sometimes puts a muzzle on me and although it doesn’t bother me at all I prefer, of course, not to wear it so my new family will need to commit to working with me on training. Muzzle training may make me look scary, but it allows me to safely meet and work on my training so I can be happy!  After all, consistency, patience, loving encouragement, and LOTS of mental and physical stimulation are the keys to my success!!! I am good with older kids, cats, and other dogs; and my favorite activities include going on my daily leashed walks or car rides; hiking; exploring; eating treats like plain Greek yogurt or pumpkin; playing with small squeaky toys and other dogs; chewing on Benebones; and running zoomies in the yard so the yard at my new home will need to be fenced! Hee, hee!! I also hope to have a small, confident doggie companion who might help me overcome some of my anxiety about strangers!!! By the way, I almost forgot to mention that I am a prodigy…no, really! I know everything from how to do my business outside to a deluge of commands like “sit”, “down”, “come”, “kennel/crate”, “wait”, “leave it”, “outside”, and “go potty”!! Thankfully, I enjoy learning, especially when I have a strong, confident, respectful leader, and I really love pleasing my people!! Anyway, foster mom says that I am the “most affectionate” dog she’s ever met and as hard as I try, I simply cannot disagree with her! Hee, hee!! All I need in my life now is YOU…a patient, unconditionally loving forever family who will not only NEVER give up on me but will commit to helping me overcome my fears!! I promise that not only am I totally worth it, but I will enrich your life in ways you could never imagine!!! Love, Benji Some of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. Others have come from various situations where they are lacking confidence in humans. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.   This dog has received grooming with us at Underdog Rescue, but was likely neglected of grooming attention until he came into our care.  It can sometimes take months to get their coat healthy as Doodle mixes require daily brushing.  Grooming appointments occur every 3 months and cost on average of $150 per appointment.  Adopters should be prepared for such expenses.  Underdog Rescue cannot guarantee the non-shedding or hypoallergenic qualities of this dog.    ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hey there, wonderful humans! I'm Kiwi, the pint-sized dynamo with a heart full of love and a zest for life. Let me give you the lowdown on the awesomeness that is me: Picture this – shades of brown and cream, one ear perpetually popped up, and eyes that tell stories – one blue and one brown. Yep, that's me, a young Mini Aussie turning heads wherever I go! Now, here's the thing – they say I'm a bit hard of hearing, but I've got my own language. I have a slight hearing loss due to being born with hydrocephalus.  We think I can hear deeper sounds, but not higher pitches. Silent hand claps for applause (and belly rubs, of course), gentle taps on the ribs for attention, and some cool hand signals like thumbs up for SIT and a wave for "come on down." I'm mastering the art of communication!  I am sometimes a bit unsteady on my feet and circle around when stimulated - that's some of my hydrocephalus showing.  But, there are no long term needs known at this time.  I might have some uniqueness, but it makes me special! Life's a classroom, and I'm here to soak it all in. I do require a fenced yard in my forever home AND need to be leashed in the yard until I understand when my people want me to come inside. My people said when we go on walks, it is best for me to be double leashed as I am skittish and a flight risk. She says “Safety First” before we go outside. When I meet new people, I am a little nervous and need some time to warm up. There are so many new things to see and sniff, I get a little overwhelmed. I am always excited to go home play with my toys. I have Crocky, Bunny, Mousey, Ropey and Bully – I like toys that are tuff so I can chew and chase with them. We recently started playing frisbee – I understand the chase part and we are working on the return part – hee hee! Hopefully my forever family will keep practicing with me. My people said that I am growing and learning so much – they are calling them “light bulb moments” because you can actually see it when I am excited and understand something new. They said I would be a good candidate to try out agility, fly ball or rat hunting because I am a high energy dog with an active mind. Did I mention my love for food? It's basically everything, and I'm open to culinary adventures! Except chicken, that sometime gives me tummy rumbles – ick. Also, sometimes I get crabby if there is another dog around at mealtime, I would suggest that meals are served in a kennel. My people have a puzzle food toy that I LOVE, foster mom says it is a great way to help me slow down and focus at mealtimes. We are also working on kennel training. So far, I prefer a wire kennel over a plastic kennel. And foster mom has been letting me sleep in the bed. Although I tend to get into things so she keeps me on a leash, even during sleepy time! Again, safety first! Potty training is a work in progress, my people said I am a whirling dervish when nature calls – hee hee. I definitely have a “signal” if you are paying attention! Typical of my breed, I would thrive in a home that will keep my mind and body active, give me a job and keep me busy. I think obedience school or agility training would be a fantastic way to bond and learn new things. My people said that I am very smart and started counter surfing and exploring into things I shouldn’t, kinda like a toddler (hee hee) so they provide supervision and things for me to do. I may be a tiny tot, but I've got a big heart and a spirit ready for adventures. If you're up for teaching, loving, and navigating life together, let's make it happen! I'm here, ready to become the most awesome dog you've ever known.  Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.  This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses.  Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.  Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a   particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.     ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up.
