From Sneaker's Foster mom: I have a never-ending list of wonderful things to say about Miss Sneakers! First and foremost, she is incredibly sweet and responds wonderfully to training. She’s not only treat-motivated, but also thrives on praise—which is so easy to give, because she’s truly a good girl. She’s completely potty trained and adapts well to both a house or apartment lifestyle. Sneakers already knows several commands: sit, lay down, off, wait, and—of course—“good girl.” She’s gentle with her toys and prefers stuffed animals over puzzle toys. Her favorite snacks are biscuits, bully sticks, and meat treats—though she’s not a fan of peanut butter. She gets plenty of exercise with 2–3 walks a day (plus some running!) to help burn off energy. Behavior & Socialization: Sneakers is considered reactive, meaning she gets nervous around new people and may bark to try and keep them away. But in the short time I’ve had her, she’s already shown amazing progress with consistent, positive exposure—especially in outdoor spaces like parks, where she can take things at her own pace. She simply needs time and patience to build trust. Once she does, she bonds deeply. ‍ Bonds quickly with women ‍ Slower to trust men Would do best in a home with older kids (she’s a little jumpy and sensitive about her tail) No cats due to prey drive (not officially tested) Best as the only dog—she’s shown nervous behavior around others Her Ideal Home: Sneakers needs a calm, structured home with patient humans who’ll give her space and support as she decompresses. Once she feels safe, she is the sweetest soul. She loves: Tummy rubs Hand-holding (yes, really!) Walks in the park Sunbathing Taking treats ever so gently She’s a total mama’s girl, and I know she’ll thrive in the right adoptive home—one that sees the loving, loyal dog she already is. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption.   The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. Story
Meet Mia. A female mini Australian shepherd. She will be 5 years old this summer. We purchased her from a breeder as a puppy. She has lived with us in the woods on 5 acres her whole life. She enjoys the outdoors, loves snuggles and her evening time zoomies with our other two male dogs. She is spayed and had all the vaccines as a puppy. We did not continue vaccinations since. Mia is a bit anxious and scared which leads us to this difficult decision to rehome her. She is terrified of strangers, cars driving in the driveway and leaves falling from the trees. She gets along great with our other dogs. However she takes her herding genetics a bit too seriously. We have chickens, ducks and goats on our property, which she has chased down and bitten multiple times causing injury to the animals. Three years ago, her anxiety, has also led her to bite two men (delivery servicemen) at separate occasions. She has never bitten anyone in the family (we have two kids) or our other dogs.

Meet Sammy! This beautiful 2 yr old blue eyed girl is an Australian Shepherd x Klee Kai. Sammy came into rescue via divorce and her owner having to find a new place to live. Sammy was supposed to complete her certification to become an emotional support dog. She is one of the sweetest girls here at the rescue waiting for her furever home! Sammy walks beautifully on a leash, however, does not have recall and with her Alaskan Klee Kai in her she would love to run and run. A fenced yard is a mandatory necessity, and on a leash when outside of her home. Sammy is still learning how to ride in vehicles without being scared. While she is calm in a travel kennel, she does tend to drool. With time and practice she should become an expert rider. Sammy is spayed, will be up to date on vaccinations prior to adoption, and is microchipped. Fine Print: All dogs of NWMNAR are screened at the headquarters in Ada, Mn until they are vetted. They are then transferred to foster homes throughout MN and some into ND so they can get used to lifestyles with a family in a home. Adoption fee for an adult dog is $300 + Mn tax. Adoption fee for a dog over 3 years of age is $300 + Mn tax., pup/dog1 year to 3 years is $400 + Mn tax. Under 1 year of age $500 + Mn tax. Free adoption applications can be found on our website at: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/NMA/Dog. Because NWMNAR is not a public shelter, meet and greets do not take place until an application has been approved and a home visit has been completed in person or virtually. Meet and greets will take place in a public setting along with the adoption if compatible. Dogs can be met in Ada, MN weekday and weekends, or in our alternate office location in Maple Grove, MN on weekends only. Once we receive your submission, our application review team will be in touch with you. Please have patience while they look over your application.
