You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $350 plus taxPeggy Lee is a smart and spirited mix of shepherd/herding and working breeds, and judging solely by some of her entertaining vocalizations, sea lion and Tasmanian devil. She seems to be always thinking and noticing. She takes time to warm up to people, but once she does, she cannot get enough belly rubs and snuggles. She loves car rides, naps in the yard, trips to the dog park, walks, and any other adventures. She would probably be a happy boating dog. Peggy Lee has so much affection to give. She wants nothing more than to love and be loved. When I tell her she’s a good girl, her tail just thumps on the floor in pure happiness. She entertains herself with chew toys and loves a good squeaker. As a strong and athletic dog, she benefits from an opportunity to run and play every day. Peggy Lee sleeps soundly at night at the foot of the bed. She needs the company of another confident and interactive dog in her home. She is overly obsessed with cats, and very vocal about it, so she needs a cat-free home. Hazel really is a special kind of dog who is just what someone out there is seeking. If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $350 plus taxAbout Lulu:  If you're looking for an energetic, loyal, affectionate companion, Lulu is the girl for you! Lulu came from a chaotic household, so it may take her some time to understand she can relax and just be a dog in your home,  but when she does she loves loves loves her people and loves to give constant affection. She can't contain her wiggles when she sees her people and she has been working on sitting patiently to wait for pets. Lulu is an intelligent breed mix, so she needs a strong, confident owner who can lead her and give her fun challenges to keep her brain busy. She is always up for learning a new trick or going on a nature walk with you.    Lulu's Training:  Lulu loves to learn! She already knows 'sit', 'down', 'off', 'come', and is working on 'shake'. While on walks, Lulu is learning to stay calm and learning that she doesn't have to let us know every time she sees a dog or person. She also has a loud bark when she first meets someone but she warms up with time and realizes they are just another person to pet her! Lulu would do best in a home with no small children as they make her nervous. Lulu has had no accidents in the house so far and even goes up to 9 hours in her kennel overnight without an accident. She is adjusting to spending time in her kennel alone and with a peanut butter kong or a bone, she keeps herself busy and then falls right asleep. When she does get nervous in her kennel, we give her calming chews to help her relax. She does fine with our resident dog but gets so excited about her toys and her people that she doesn't like to share. She would do best as the only dog in the household or with a patient, confident dog who can teach her how to share her favorite things. Overall, she is making excellent progress with her training and is always eager to please, so she really enjoys taking direction. You don't even need treats sometimes because her favorite reward is just some good ol' pets!  If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com  to reactivate your application with new interest.       Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Hi everyone! My name is Alexis but my foster family calls me Lexi. I’m about a 5 1/2 year old mini Aussie with a heart of gold. I can be very shy when I first meet you but will warm up quickly. I'm unsure of my foster dogs and ignores the cats completely. I am potty trained and will go to the door or pace when i need to go out. I only had one accident but my foster mom thinks it’s because I was so scared. I love being outside. I have a fenced in yard so haven’t had much experience on a leash yet. I greet people when they come to visit and love the compliments and pets i get. Unsure of how she’d handle children. I haven’t been around little kids but I don’t like loud noises so I don’t think I’d do very good. I’m a snuggle bug and will give kisses, if you ask. I will go into my kennel but I prefer to be where my people are. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, dental, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Hi, I’m Moose! I’m a herding breed mix of some kind born 10/7/23!  My siblings and I just moved to Minnesota from Lake Traverse, MI!  I am very energetic and always looking to play!  I’m friendly with everyone; adults, kids, dogs, cats.  Any person I meet immediately becomes my best friend!  I bark sometimes when other dogs are playing rambunctiously or when I get scared.  I like to make my foster mom laugh by talking back to her when she tells me to be quiet.  I typically prefer to be cuddled up with my people.  I am still learning how to go potty outside and do well on a schedule.  I sleep in my crate, and I am quiet at night.  I’ve mastered leash walking but want to sniff EVERYTHING on my walks.  If you’re interested in meeting me, let me know!  I’d love to meet you!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Little Miss Molly is a super sweet Aussie who was born 7/23/23. She came from a dirty, neglectful situation causing her to lose some hair on her face and legs from itching. She's getting healthy and happy and will soon be all fluffy and look adorable with a black and white face! Molly has some separation anxiety but sleeps all night in her kennel but only if able to see you, or she will bark and cry. During the day she does not do well for long in her kennel, but instead loves to curl up on her own bed napping or quietly playing with toys in her foster mom's office while she works. Her favorite time of the day is when the kids (4 & 6) are home from school. She loves to lick their faces and wants to play, but gets a little nippy trying to get attention, but not painfully and does well with correction so she's learning fast. Molly is food motivated and will sit for a treat and will take it so politely. She loves belly rubs and getting her fluffy fur stroked while laying next to you on the couch. She is still a puppy so loves chewing on toys or things the kids leave on the floor, but always gracefully gives them back when taken away. Molly is mostly potty trained with some minor accidents as she learns to tell us. She does well on a leash but loves being in the backyard, watching the birds, squirrels, and bunnies. She is learning to come when called if treats are involved! Molly does well with other dogs but loves to be around everyone in the family. She's a lovable puppy ready to meet her forever family!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Meet Allie, a 2019 edition of a party colored Australian Shepherd x Border Collie weighing in at 42 lbs. This beautiful gal came to NWMNAR because her previous owner had to leave abroad to help take care of in-laws and could not take Allie with. Allie loves going to obedience class and showing how smart she is. Allie needs an Aussie savy owner her can outsmart her. She is best with dogs the same size, she has prey drive towards rabbits and may not do well with cats or other smaller animals possibly including smaller tiny dogs. Allie takes time with strangers and will often back away barking. Allie has been scared of men with hats in the past. She can be a bit barky towards other dogs on walks, but has been learning to play nice. She can be dominant towards other dogs. Allie doesn't like plastic crates, but does just fine in wire crate. Allie must be crated in a vehicle otherwise she will run around in a vehicle pushing window switches until she gets out. Allie is best to go for a walk before a car ride to ensure she doesn't nervous defecate in the vehicle. Allie hies and sleeps under the bed to keep the monsters away. Allie does like to vocalize herself if she sees other dogs outside when she is peering out the windows. She has just started to play with toys and gets groomed twice a week with a brush. Allie is available for adoption. Free adoption applications can be found on our website at: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/NMA/Dog. Because NWMNAR is not a public shelter, meet and greets do not take place until an application has been approved and a home visit has been completed in person or virtually. Meet and greets will take place in a public setting along with the adoption if compatible. Dogs can be met in Ada, MN or in our alternate office location in Maple Grove, Mn.

Story
Meet little Bella Dawn, this beautiful 2017 edition of a Miniature Australian Shepherd came into rescue from a breeder release. Her life has been primarily living in a crate or kennel and used solely for breeding. She is now looking for a furever home where she will never have to worry about breeding again. She is learning to live the good life, plays with other dogs, keeps her kennel run clean, is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. She is learning to trust and is a little shy but coming out of her shell and wants to be loved. She is learning how to walk on a leash and learn her basic skills. Bella Dawn would love to have a home where she can be loved solely for herself and not for breeding. Meet Red Raven! Red Raven is a 2022 edition of a standard Australian Shepherd. She came into NWMNAR as an owner surrender as they had to move and where they were moving did not allow pets. Red Raven is a very intelligent dog, and will need a privacy fenced yard as she can clear a six foot chain link fence. This girl would probably excel in agility or be a great jogging partner. She does best with women, has been around children, but better suited for adults. Red Raven is very responsive, wicked smart, house and crate trained, spayed, up to date on vaccinations and ready to find her new home. Red Raven is available for adoption. Story
Meet Freckles - This young 3 yr old boy with half tail came into rescue to no fault of his own, His human went into a nursing home and he was placed in a boarding facility where he became malnourished and was not fed enough. Luckily he was surrendered over to Northwest Minnesota Aussie Rescue and has been gaining back the weight. He is best with the lady dogs, as he was recently neutered and all hormones are starting to wear out of his body. He is getting better playing with other dogs. He is food driven - most likely from not getting enough food while in a boarding facility. He has a shiny black coat now that is easy maintenance. He we need some work on his basics, and house training. He has primarily kept his kennel run clean. He is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and looking for his new home!! He is available for adoption through an approved application. Free adoption applications can be found on our website at: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/NMA/Dog. She needs one in her forever home Cat friendly: Yes with dog savvy cats Kid friendly: Older kids only Potty trained: Yes Crate trained: Yes when she can see other dogs **Needs another confident dog and physically fenced yard**  Addie is the sweetest little girl you’ll ever meet! She is nervous about new people at first, but will warm up after she realizes she's home and safe. She is such a little love bug who wants to cuddle and get pets. She happily lounges on the couch in the evening, getting snuggles. She needs another dog in the home to teach her how to be confident. She absolutely LOVES her doggo foster brother and playing with him, so another dog that wants to play is a must, as she needs that kind of relationship to blossom. She would cuddle up with her cat foster sister all of the time, so as long as the cat can handle her bursts of energy, she's a doll with them! Because of her fears, she needs a securely fenced yard to live her happiest life, and you'll see a different side of her when she's outside playing! She is potty trained and does well in a kennel for a full workday when you're gone. She's the easiest little girl because of her sweet demeanor and smartness. She keeps herself busy with toys during the day, so she'd be a great companion for anyone who works from home but is not required!  Once she's comfortable with you, we think she would be really great at agility or other training, too, so feel free to put her border collie abilities to the test! She gets really scared by sudden, loud noises and fast movements, so Addie would do best in a home without little kids. Other than that, she just wants all the love she can get from her people, dogs, and cats!  Adoption Fee: $595Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.INTERESTED IN MEETING ME? My name is Sir Nyx-A-Lot. I am a sweet, smiley, handsome boy who had a very rough first five years. Living in a home with people is a new experience for me but I am learning and have come a very long way in a short amount of time!   I am very shy around people, especially new people but that said, I don’t have a mean bone in my body. I greet my foster family with a big goofy growl like smile when they come home. They adore it! I really LOVE other dogs. In fact, I need a home with a confident dog to help me learn how to live the good life. I like to play with them and follow their lead. When they go to a human, I often follow to get a pet as well.   My foster family has been taking me on walks where I am gaining confidence. I very much enjoy walks and my foster mama says I'm a really good walker!   I sleep great in my crate or left out and I am potty trained.   I am looking for that amazing forever home with a confident pup and a fenced yard so I can continue growing my confidence and living my best life!   Adoption Fee:$325  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.INTERESTED IN MEETING ME? Whether that's his siblings, foster brothers, or foster humans, he'd like to be included. He does settle down in his pen for naps, but not without a few words about wanting you to snuggle him first. This guy is very playful and loves squeaky toys. Balls are less exciting, but he's not against a game of keep away with a tennis ball. Tab is starting to signal when it's time to go potty, which is a great sign for potty training. He's also extremely food motivated but doesn't scarf his food like his siblings, instead he savors it.
