Once he warms he is great!He is very treat motivated and smart; sit, kennel and stay are all coming along nicely and he is fully potty trained. Brock is a very playful dog who likes to play fetch with a tennis ball or frisbee and play tug-a-war with either a human or dog companion. He gets along well with his other household dog pals. At times he has too much energy for the 9 year old dog, but is getting better at recognizing social cues of when it is okay to play and when it is not. Brock snuggles and sleeps as well as he plays. Hello! My name is Rosalee but my foster mom calls me Rosa and Rosie. I’m a beautiful 6 year old Mini Aussie that has had a very rough life until I was taken in by NDLB. I’m still learning how to be a dog and I’m very scared but I’m trying my best. I am starting to really enjoy walks and get so excited beforehand that my little butt just keeps wiggling! I spend most of my day on the middle stairway where I can watch my foster mom and still have a quick getaway up to our room when things get scary. At night, I sleep with my foster mom in bed. I am getting used to something she calls cuddle time. The affection is a bit weird but I like it. I live with a resident dog who is teaching me how to be a dog. I rarely bark but when I do I startle myself a little bit. I didn’t know I could make those sounds! Slowly but surely I am learning that humans can be kind and I am loved. Right now I mostly ignore other dogs, and am still learning about cats. I stay quietly in my crate when my people aren’t home. In fact, I stay quiet almost all of the time! Meet Allie, a 2019 edition of a party colored Australian Shepherd x Border Collie weighing in at 42 lbs. This beautiful gal came to NWMNAR because her previous owner had to leave abroad to help take care of in-laws and could not take Allie with. Allie loves going to obedience class and showing how smart she is. Allie needs an Aussie savy owner her can outsmart her. She is best with dogs the same size, she has prey drive towards rabbits and may not do well with cats or other smaller animals possibly including smaller tiny dogs. Allie takes time with strangers and will often back away barking. Allie has been scared of men with hats in the past. She can be a bit barky towards other dogs on walks, but has been learning to play nice. She can be dominant towards other dogs. Allie doesn't like plastic crates, but does just fine in wire crate. Allie must be crated in a vehicle otherwise she will run around in a vehicle pushing window switches until she gets out. Allie is best to go for a walk before a car ride to ensure she doesn't nervous defecate in the vehicle. Allie hies and sleeps under the bed to keep the monsters away. Allie does like to vocalize herself if she sees other dogs outside when she is peering out the windows. She has just started to play with toys and gets groomed twice a week with a brush. Meet Freckles - This young 3 yr old boy with half tail came into rescue to no fault of his own, His human went into a nursing home and he was placed in a boarding facility where he became malnourished and was not fed enough. Luckily he was surrendered over to Northwest Minnesota Aussie Rescue and has been gaining back the weight. He is best with the lady dogs, as he was recently neutered and all hormones are starting to wear out of his body. He is getting better playing with other dogs. He is food driven - most likely from not getting enough food while in a boarding facility. He has a shiny black coat now that is easy maintenance. He we need some work on his basics, and house training. He has primarily kept his kennel run clean. He is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and looking for his new home!! He may come in a small package but he makes up for it with his big personality. Shamrock loves to play with toys, run and wrestle with his littermates. Weighing only 10 pounds at 12 weeks he is the smallest puppy in the litter. He has adorable pointy bat ears and a soft fluffy black coat to match.
