Story
This handsome fellow and his siblings came in to rescue last winter after they were dumped on a back country road. Their mother was found deceased, so we took the puppies in to try to save them. They were very sick initially but are very healthy now. Big boy is a gentle boy but does love to run and play with other dogs. Big boy was the largest of the puppies, but his siblings have caught up to him. He has done amazing with his house and crate training. He is so deserving of a wonderful home to call his own. He is fostered in East TN, but transportation is included in the adoption fee and provided by Rescue Riders LLC. Please let me know if you have any questions. Please email us for the link to the adoption application (His adoption fee is only to cover transport and health certificate to travel to another state.)

Story
Eunice came to rescue from Animal Control. She is a spayed female black tri Australian Shepherd, approximately a little over a year old. Eunice is a high energy dog whose foster has worked hard on her tendency to jump on people, so this behavior is much more controlled. She will sit and lie down on command as it is her opinion that these are fun tricks to do! She loves her stuffed toys but does have to monitored when she has them as to not shred them to pieces. (This is why we can't have nice things Eunice... you need to be nice to your toys if you want them to last Eunice...) She loves to be pet and talked to - her foster has been working on her house manners, observing her to be well-intentioned but a diamond in the rough. She needs a home that will enjoy training her and she loves to learn. She does have an off switch - she will enjoy herself on the deck and watch the birds. She loves her crate and has learned to "wait" to come out. She also was recently groomed and was a very good girl for the groomer. The details: Needs fence: Likely no, but needs established trust before being off lead Good with dogs: Yes, better with neutral dogs Good with cats: Not really; does like to chase those that run Good with kids: Seems to be All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com. All dogs have an adoption fee of $400 plus MN sales tax. We pride ourselves on matches that are awesome for both the dogs and your family. Story
Odin is a 5 year olds, neutered male black bi Australian Shepherd. He is 37 pounds, housebroke, good with cats, and likes people but is bit nervous around strangers. He does pull on leash some, is well mannered in the house and can sit, down and shake. Odin is currently living in a foster with 6 other dogs with no issues. Odin was a transfer from a shelter in Iowa due to the fact that he has issues with body handling and needs some work in cooperative care to get him comfortable with grooming and vet visits. His foster is working on muzzle training and desensitizing him to brushing. Odin is very treat motivated and loves his training sessions on the grooming table. Scroll down on our facebook to see a live session on cooperative care using Odin as a demo. In that video I mention that Odin is headed to a new home. We took him there but the resident dog and Odin decided very quickly that they did not want to share a home and he came back to his foster the same day. The details: Needs fence: no, but unsure how he is off leash Good with dogs: yes, actively avoids conflict in house with 6 other dogs. Good with cats: yes Good with kids: likely not due to issues with bodily handling. Older kids would be fine. All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com. Story
King came to us from our friends at Minneapolis Animal Control (an awesome organization). He has had a rough past (left in a hot car and had to go to an emergency vet for heat exhaustion and had wounds from a collar on his neck). King is a young, estimated to be 2ish years old blue merle male with big fluffy tail. He arrived to rescue weighing 80 lbs, with a need to lose about 10 lbs. King has been living with a foster family that has spent a lot of time determining the kind of forever home he would need to be happy and successful. King is an absolute love bug with his family. He loves to cuddle and play and he is very good with the children who live in the home. He does have a preference for women and has displayed behaviors that would indicate that he can feel protective of them. He can be skeptical of new people, and would benefit from slow introductions. King has not been a fan of other dogs coming into his home, and is not very polite in meeting other dogs, so he would do best as being the only dog in the home. He seemed indifferent to cats in the intake home when he first arrived to ARM, but will chase animals that run, so cats might not find him quite as entertaining as he does. King adores the outdoors; loving walks and playing outside. His leash manners are still work in progress, but he’s eager to learn and please. King does have the herding instinct, and will try to herd children running around so it is not recommended that he’d be placed in a home with young kids. King is housebroken and is crate trained, but he is not a fan of the crate. However, he does have some separation anxiety (which can be common of dogs coming out of the shelter environment) and will get destructive, so for his safety, he does need to be crated when people are gone, or live in a home where someone is home all of the time. ARM and his foster family are currently looking to him assessed for anxiety so we can explore treatment options to support his needs and to keep him safe. King’s ideal home would be a quiet home that doesn’t have many visitors and he can be the only pet in the home. King loves his family with his whole being but does need to have a family that accepts that he’s not a dog that loves social gatherings, but instead would much rather cuddle with you on the couch, and binge watch your favorite series with you. King is being fostered in northern MN, north of Duluth. The details: Needs fence? Not required, but reliable recall will need to be established before going off lead. Good with dogs? No Good with cats? Will chase Good with kids? Children aged 10 or older All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com. Story
Mystery Pup Post! Meet Frodo, a good boy who finds himself in our witness protection program. Frodo is a neutered 2 year old, 45 lb black tri Aussie with adorable copper freckles on his legs and fluffy chest and bootie, who is finds himself needing a new home (or foster home) due to not being happy in his current foster home that has multiple dogs. (Seriously, why should he have to share human affection; being the only dog means he gets ALLLL the treats and pets!) Why the witness protection program for Frodo? Frodo came to ARM as result from a county sheriff case where it was deemed that his prior living situation wasn't safe for him and wasn’t cared for properly. Bio pic is a clip art of an adorable black tri Aussie – full disclosure, we wholeheartedly believe that he is MUCH cuter than the clip art. Frodo isn't overly hyper - he really enjoys walks or runs with his person and also likes to snuggle (he requests that he could live somewhere where he is allowed on furniture so he can be closer to you). He is crate-trained and house-broken. He's eager to learn new things, so a home that's able to provide mental stimulation & adventures would be a bonus. Frodo does also seem to have a soft spot for the ladies – while he does get along with men, he does take time to warm up to them and has shown signs of being wary (which is reminiscent from his previous home). Homes with cats would not be a good fit for Frodo as he can be really annoying to cats and if they run, it's game on for him. In short, if you have two legs, can see over the steering wheel of a vehicle (you know, so you can buy him treat-o's), and can give pets; you are awesome and he wants to get to know you. If you have four legs, he's a total dinglehopper and not a great friend to other four-legged creatures. Frodo is crate trained and house broken. He loves car rides and being with his person. Frodo is truly a good boy. It has become clear that where he is living is not what is ideal for him and there's no faulting him for needing something that's better suited for his needs and interests. The details: Needs fence: likely not, but established recall before having him off lead is highly recommended Good with dogs: Can be dog selective, ideally best as the only dog Good with cats: No Good with kids: Teenage years and older All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com. Story
Luke is a gentle, loving boy with a calm and quiet nature. He enjoys playing catch and is perfectly content entertaining himself with a ball. He’s very attentive, eager to please, and impressively easy to train—he picked up kennel training in just two days. Luke is affectionate and loves to give hugs, always looking to his people for reassurance and connection. He can be timid around other dogs, likely due to past experiences as a stray; when he was found, he had bite marks and a wound on his leg, all of which have since healed. Despite everything he’s been through, Luke’s gratitude for being rescued shines through in everything he does. He’s eager to learn, eager to love, and would make a wonderful companion. Luke does well with cats and children and is ready to find a safe, patient home where he can truly thrive. 💛

Story
Everly is a sweet, happy, spunky little girl who loves life large! She is super smart and very brave. Despite being one of the smallest pups in her litter, she was the first one to figure out the ramp from the deck to the yard. She loves to play with her siblings but she is enamored with one of the resident dogs in her foster home and follows the other dog everywhere and does whatever her foster sister does. It's adorable! She's a confident little peanut. She loves to be held and is very snuggly and loving too. She will be ready to meet prospective new families in MN starting Sunday, 1/11! Everly is about 8 weeks old and weighs just under 7 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested. If you are interested in meeting this dog please complete the adoption application on our website at https://safehandsrescue.org/adoption-process/ and then we can contact you about setting up a meeting. We are also holding the following upcoming adoption events! Please note: All dogs/puppies will not be at every event, and some may find their home prior to the event. If you are interested in a specific animal, please check our Facebook page for confirmed attendance the morning of the event: https://www.facebook.com/safehandsrescue/ You do not need to have a Facebook account to check the Safe Hands Facebook page for attendance. Story
Hi, I’m Aspen! I'm a boy with a gentle spirit and a big heart that’s on the hunt for a family to share it with. Whether you're looking for a playful companion or a snuggle bug, I'm your guy! I am a world-class couch cuddler and a big fan of toys. I love collecting them all in my bed in case I want to come back to them later! Some of my favorite things include eating yummy treats, running around outside, and playing with other dogs. I would love to have a friendly dog in my forever home to learn the ropes from. I'm pretty shy in new environments, but with a handful of treats and a little bit of patience, my hesitant exterior melts away. I love my people deeply and show it in the form of kisses, cuddles, and happy wiggle butts. I’m doing great with house training when kept on a schedule (I rarely have an accident in the house!). I love my kennel and stay in it at night and when my foster parents aren’t home. I haven’t been around cats and have had limited interactions with kids. I would probably do best in a home with older children as I can get spooked by loud noises and sudden movements. I’m learning and growing everyday, and ready to find my forever family! Could that be you? Aspen is estimated to be 6.5 months old and 28 lbs. We hope to see you at an upcoming Meet & Greet! Saturday, January 24, 12:00-2:00pm, Big Wood Brewery, 3429 Centerville Road, Vadnais Heights, MN https://www.facebook.com/events/841935055056592
