Percy is starting over. In a matter of minutes, Percy’s entire life was turned upside down. A kind-hearted human became concerned about Percy and his 2-year-old human brother and called for a wellness check. What authorities discovered was far worse than anyone imagined. The parents who were supposed to be caring for them had been neglecting, assaulting, and abusing them. At first, they tried to deny what was happening, but text messages and videos told the truth. Percy has a long road ahead, but thankfully, his story is taking a much happier turn. He is safe, loved, happy, and thriving in his foster home. Now he just needs the right family to help him continue healing and show him what a safe, loving life is supposed to look like. Percy would do best as the only dog in his home , but he absolutely enjoys his feline friends. He can still have nervous accidents in the house, but he's improving as he learns that his people are there to protect him and that he's finally safe. And this boy has so much joy to give! He LOVES squeaky tennis balls. He loves going for walks. Fetch is one of his favorite games. A fenced-in yard would probably be his ultimate dream. He does wonderfully on walks and even does great on a tie-out. He's been trained and listens better than many of our resident dogs! Percy doesn't need perfection. He needs patience, consistency, love, and a family willing to let him heal at his own pace. I am an adorable border collie/lab mix who wants nothing more than a home to call my own--and, preferably, a ball to call my own as well. I LOVE to chase balls, and if no balls are around, I'll make do with chasing anything you throw for me--stuffies, sticks, ropes... the options are endless. I also love going on car rides, sit politely in the back seat, and walk well on a leash. My foster mom says that I'm amazingly well adjusted given my rough history. I was 1 of 16 (!!) dogs rescued from a local home, and I haven't had the best care before now. For example, you might notice that I have a bit of a limp due to a wonky front foot. The vet says that this is likely caused by a ruptured tendon that didn't heal right. Fortunately, it doesn't slow me down at all! I also recently had 8 front teeth removed. Still, nothing can bring down my happy-go-lucky personality (except, of course, when my foster mom puts away my ball for the night). Here's a bit more from my foster mom: An ideal home for Gordy would be one that can give him lots of mental and physical stimulation. He really enjoys chewing on bones and bully sticks, playing tug with toys, and playing fetch. He's also a smart boy and has picked up on sit, lay down, and crate up very quickly. We're working on some new commands for him to show off! I think he'd do great with someone who enjoys having a dog that can be a companion to them on a variety of adventures! Gordy is fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations for his age. DOB 2/1/26; currently about 30# and will probably get to be 45-50#s, best guess. She is the most adorable puppy EVER! She is enthusiastic & confident; curious & playful; and very smart. She has almost mastered walking on a leash and she is good in her crate. She loves car rides. She is mostly quiet in the kennel, except when she needs to do her business! She loves people and dogs of All sizes and ages. Because she is young, we don’t recommend very young children be around her. In her puppy playfulness, she would probably knock the little ones down. Curious, interested in cats but not aggressive. Loves treats so she will be easy to train. She plays with the rope toy or stick with you, but she does not return it yet.
