Story
Percy is doing SO well, and we honestly can’t believe how much he has changed in such a short time. When Percy first came to us, he was a very scared 4-year-old Border Collie. Because of his unfortunate past, he was especially fearful of men and would even become nervous when I simply walked into the room. But with patience, love, and a little time, Percy is discovering that he is safe.  Today, Percy sits beside me, happily lets me pet him, and even gives me the sweetest hugs and kisses. He now gives both me and my wife plenty of love and affection. He is also becoming much more comfortable with our adult dog but has so many feelings he doesn't know how to handle them sometimes. He has been wonderful around our grandson. Percy is an incredibly smart, energetic boy who absolutely LOVES to play ball and run in the yard. He also happens to be the best dog on a leash we have ever fostered! He's a champ on a tie out but would love a home with a fenced in yard. He's also house trained but is still working on nervous anxious peeing. This stops once he feels safe with his people. He's getting better with belly bands that help with clean up. He's kennel trained & likes to have a den like place to go in & out of on his own. It has been amazing to watch this scared dog slowly come out of his shell and show us the loving, playful personality that was there all along. We know Percy is going to be so excited when he finally finds his forever family.  We truly hope there is someone out there who will give Percy the loving, patient forever home he deserves. He has so much love to give and is ready to continue his journey toward a forever home.        Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, rabies vaccination if age appropriate, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Distemper combo vaccines appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, heartworm and flea/tick preventative while in rescue. Story
Meet Mayla, a purebred Border Collie with classic working-dog intelligence, incredible affection, and boundless enthusiasm. We brought Mayla home from a local farm where both of her parents worked with sheep, and she has carried that loyal, active drive with her ever since. She has been a deeply cherished and sweet family companion, proving herself time and again to be wonderfully gentle and great with our kids.Mayla is an active girl who thrives when she gets plenty of outdoor exercise, long walks, and mental stimulation. Her absolute passion in life is playing fetch with a frisbee, she is a natural athlete, an expert catcher, and could happily play for hours if you let her. After a lot of family discussion, we have made the difficult decision to rehome her. With our second child here, we simply no longer have the time and energy she truly deserves to stay happy and fulfilled.

Story
Location: Circle Pines, MN Hi, my name is Ari! I’m a very happy and energetic boy! I need lots of physical and mental stimulation. I like to eat out of slow feeders, muffin pans, and the Kong Wobbler so I don’t eat too fast. I’m so great in my kennel while my mom goes to work. When she gets home I’m quiet until she lets me out of the kennel, then I’m pretty vocal until I can get out for a nice walk to go potty. I can sit, shake, lay down, and touch. When mom is home from work, I need at least four walks a day. I listen pretty well at home, but when we get outside I’m distracted and tend to ignore my mom. I know I sound pretty great, but I have some quirks too. I’m protective of my owner and don’t want people or dogs to approach her, so you have to be patient with me. If I approach them, I do much better. I would be best in an active home with a fenced in yard. Keep in mind, I’m a herding dog and I’m looking for things to keep me stimulated so I stay out of trouble. *Originated from: South Dakota Reservation. --------------- The best way to show interest in an animal is to submit an adoption application by visiting our website (www.rescuenetworkmn.org). Story
Joyful. Smiley. Gentle. Silly. If you're looking for a dog who brightens your day simply by being herself, you found her! I'm Lassie, a 10-year-old, 48# Border Collie and Australian Shepherd mix (best guess), and I'm proof that growing older means you appreciate the good things in life. My theme song is "Happy" by Pharrell Williams. Once you meet me, you'll understand why! I love a nice, leisurely walk, followed by a fluffy dog bed where I can stretch out and relax. I'm also an enthusiastic fan of pets, attention, and giving kisses to my favorite people. My foster family says I'm the perfect dog! I read the room like a pro: my fun, puppy-like energy comes out when it's time to play. Laying low while you're busy is no problem at all. I'm easy-peasy. My ideal home is peaceful with a family who enjoys staying close to home and believes in getting out for daily exercise. Short strolls are my favorite - I'm an amazing walking companion. Traffic, strange noises, and other dogs do not bother me. My fosters have taken me on outings to a parade and a brewery, and I got an A+ at both events! I could happily live with another calm dog or be your one-and-only. Best in a home without kitties or small animals I would interact with (chickens, ducks). Gentle, calm children could be part of my family, too. A fenced yard would be wonderful but its not a requirement. I want to be near my people, only outside if they are with me. You can leave me loose in the house without worrying. My fosters are helping me lose a few remaining extra pounds - boy do I feel good! You might notice I got a big haircut. That was part of the 'feel better' plan too - my mats are gone! One of my pictures shows my beautiful coat that will grow back soon. If you're looking for a sweet companion who appreciates quiet days, comfortable beds, gentle affection, and little adventures, I might be your girl. My forever family will gain a little happiness every single day because I have plenty to give away! Lassie is being fostered in Savage, MN. APPLY to adopt her at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt Lassie is taking supplements and medication that are approximately $60/month. We believe getting to a healthy weight and time to settle with her new family will make the world of difference for this special girl, reducing the need for these items. Details will be provided to interested families. Her adoption fee is $250 plus Minnesota tax. Lassie is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. Upon adoption, all of our dogs go to their new homes with a collar and harness, leash, starter food, blanket, favorite toys & treats. They are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a central facility to visit. Meet and greets with specific dogs are arranged once your adoption application (not an inquiry through Petfinder) has been received, processed, and approved. We are located in Minnesota and adopt to an area 400 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Story
At just 18 months old and around 40# (plus a whole lot of fluff!), Marco is an adorable Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix (our best guess). He is a loyal, slightly clumsy and utterly lovable Velcro dog, happiest wherever his people are. With lovely medium energy, Marco is always up for playing and doing things with his family. He is equally happy relaxing in the yard, soaking up the sunshine while watching his favorite show, Bunny TV. Cuddling with his humans is another favorite pastime. He discovered the joy of toys, and his goofy play style is downright adorable. Marco can be shy when meeting new people. He prefers to take his time, observe, think things over, and then decide when he's ready to approach. Once he feels safe, his sweet personality shines. Patience, kindness, and allowing him to move at his own pace are key to building his confidence and winning his trust. The ideal family for this handsome lad will help him become more confident without sheltering him from the world. He wants to explore, experience new things, and expand his horizons. He loves being outdoors and loves going for walks. A securely fenced yard would be amazing: he would love a safe place to explore and gain faith in himself. Marco does well with the cats in his foster home, simply ignoring them. We know from his prior home that he cannot live with free-range chickens. A calm, confident canine companion could be a good match after proper introductions. He could live with mature children who understand that loud noises and being startled aren't his jam. He is housebroken once settled into a new routine. Relaxes in his crate when his people are away. He wants to take his new family to obedience classes to learn lots of things and spend time together. You will not find a more devoted companion than Marco. He cannot wait to find a deep connection with a special family that will treasure him as much as he will adore them. APPLY to adopt him at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt Marco is being fostered in Rochester, MN. His adoption fee is $450 + MN sales tax. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines.
