Snapshot of Gordy: Size? Medium-Large (48 lbs) Activity Level? High -he is a border collie mix, after all! ;) Noise Level? Low Good with Dogs? Yes Good with Cats? Yes Good with Kids? Likely, but no children in foster home. Good with Strangers? Yes Potty Trained? Yes, with appropriate supervision and a schedule. Crate Trained? Yes Shedding? Medium About Gordy: Hi, my name is Gordy! I also respond to Gordo, Gordito, Sir Gordon, and Cheesy Gordita Crunch. I am an adorable border collie/lab mix who wants nothing more than a home to call my own--and, preferably, a ball to call my own as well. I LOVE to chase balls, and if no balls are around, I'll make do with chasing anything you throw for me--stuffies, sticks, ropes... the options are endless. My foster mom says that I'm amazingly well adjusted given my relatively rough history. I was 1 of 16 (!!) dogs rescued from a local home, and I haven't had the best care before now. For example, you might notice that I have a bit of a limp due to a wonky front foot. The vet says that this is likely caused by a ruptured tendon that didn't heal right. Fortunately, it doesn't slow me down at all! I also recently had 8 front teeth removed, including 3 of my canines, which were all fractured, likely from biting at the bars of a crate. Still, nothing can bring down my happy-go-lucky personality (except, of course, when my foster mom puts away my ball for the night). Something else you should know about me is that I tested positive for two tick-borne diseases, Anaplasmosis and Lyme. I received treatment and I don’t have any signs of chronic Lyme infection - which is AMAZING news! I will likely continue to test positive for both of these for the rest of my life due to chronic antibodies. It is possible that I could develop side effects from Lyme later in my life but for now I’m a happy and healthy boy! Here's a bit more from my foster mom: An ideal home for Gordy would be one that can give him lots of mental and physical stimulation. He really enjoys chewing on bones and bully sticks, playing tug with toys, and playing fetch. He's also a smart boy and has picked up on sit, lay down, and crate up very quickly. We're working on some new commands for him to show off! I think he'd do great with someone who enjoys having a dog that can be a companion to them on a variety of adventures! Gordy is fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations for his age. Story
Froggy is a 9-week-old heart-stealer! This adorable Border Collie mix weighs about 9 lbs now, and from the moment he arrived, made himself right at home and quickly became a family favorite. For such a young pup, Froggy is already impressively smart and eager to learn. He was the first of his litter to master “sit,” and he’s highly treat-motivated, which makes training fun. Potty training is still a work in progress, but he uses a potty pad and consistently makes it there at nighttime. He also does well in a crate with his siblings and settles well. He’s always ready for a game of fetch, a squeaky toy, or a good chew for teething. He loves running, exploring, and engaging his curious mind, so he’ll thrive in a home that can offer plenty of activity and enrichment. He also has a funny habit of sitting at your feet to politely ask for attention, knowing it might earn him a treat.Froggy is a super friendly dog who loves everyone he's met so far... people, kids, toddlers, and dogs! He loves to snuggle with kids and tries to be on his best behavior. He doesn't have experience with cats, so a proper introduction is recommended.Froggy would likely do best in a home where someone is around often, and a fenced yard would be ideal for his love of movement and exploration. He’s not much of a barker, making him an easygoing roommate. In short: Froggy is the total package, smart, loving, playful, and endlessly endearing. He truly knows how to win hearts and is ready to bring joy and laughter to his forever home. If you are interested in Froggy, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $550. Story
Meet Cricket, a 9-week-old Border Collie mix with a personality just as beautiful as her looks! With her calm, gentle nature, Cricket truly stands out as a special pup. She’s already showing off her intelligence—learning to sit, patiently waiting for rewards, and making great progress with potty training. She settles nicely in her crate and keeps her sleeping area clean overnight, which is impressive for such a young puppy. She's not very vocal so she makes for a great roommate. Cricket is great with kids of all ages and gets along well with other dogs. While she hasn’t been tested with cats, but she could do well with proper introductions. She enjoys squeaky toys, chewing treats for teething, and spending time outside exploring. As a Border Collie mix, Cricket will benefit from regular exercise and mental stimulation, though she has a calm presence in the home. She’d thrive in a loving environment where her intelligence and sweet nature can continue to shine. If you’re looking for a smart, gentle, and well-rounded puppy to grow alongside your family, Cricket might just be your perfect match! If you are interested in this dog, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $550. Story
Petey is a 30-lb Border Collie mix—or a small dog with a big personality! At 2-years-old, he's a sassy younger sibling to his foster brother Max, always riling Max up in a hilarious way. Petey loves to taunt his brother with his hilariously cute "tough guy" growl when they play, making sure Max knows it's out of love, so they can end up in a classic cuddle puddle. Petey is house-trained and always eager to please. He lets you know when it’s time to go outside and is full of energy and fun. He is crate-trained, but does not enjoy being in the kennel alone. While he’s still learning some manners, he’s as sweet and good-natured as they come.Petey gets along wonderfully with other dogs and absolutely loves having a canine buddy to play and wrestle with—his foster brother has been a huge help in bringing out his confidence and playful side. He gets excited when seeing other dogs on walks, always ready to make a new friend. He’s also good with kids, but since he can be a jumper when he’s excited, a proper introduction is recommended first. Petey cannot live with cats.Petey’s favorite things in life are walks, playing fetch, and wrestling with his dog friends. Squeaky toys and plushies get destroyed with him! He’s happiest when he’s active, so Petey will thrive in a home with a fenced yard or a family committed to giving him plenty of daily exercise in other ways.
