Story
Odin is a 6 year old, neutered male black bi Australian Shepherd. He is 37 pounds, housebroke, good with cats, and likes people. He does pull on leash some, is well mannered in the house and can sit, down and shake. Odin is currently living in a foster with 6 other dogs with no issues. Odin was a transfer from a shelter in Iowa due to the fact that he has issues with body handling and needed some work in cooperative care to get him comfortable with grooming and vet visits. His foster has worked on muzzle training and desensitizing him to brushing. Odin is very treat motivated and loves his training sessions on the grooming table. All grooming except nail trimming can now be done with no drama. The details: Needs fence: no, has a great recall Good with dogs: yes, actively avoids conflict in house with 6 other dogs. Good with cats: yes Good with kids: Older kids would be fine. All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. APPLICATION LINK: https://shaynesrescue.com/adoption-application-pet-central-satx/ We must have an application to move forward. (Shayne's Rescue is an affiliate with PetCentralSATX). If there are problems with the website, please email me for help. Whitney a possibly a Border Collie mixed with Red Heeler. DOB 2/1/26; currently about 30# and will probably get to be 45-50#s, best guess. She is the most adorable puppy EVER! She is enthusiastic & confident; curious & playful; and very smart. She has almost mastered walking on a leash and she is good in her crate. She loves car rides. She is mostly quiet in the kennel, except when she needs to do her business! She loves people and dogs of All sizes and ages. Because she is young, we don’t recommend very young children be around her. In her puppy playfulness, she would probably knock the little ones down. Curious, interested in cats but not aggressive. Loves treats so she will be easy to train. She plays with the rope toy or stick with you, but she does not return it yet. She definitely acts goofy when she plays but also loves to snuggle in your lap. This dog is CURRENTLY IN TEXAS and available for pre-adoption. Adoptions include neuter/spay, vaccinations (DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies), microchip, health certificate, transport with our professional dog transporter, and 6 mos of heart worm prevention. You will receive the dog's folder with all the printouts proving the medical treatments received. If you have any questions or would like an e-mail from us as to how all of this works, text me (Terry); identify the dog's name and give me your email address... 210-394-6060. You can also go to our Facebook page... https://www.facebook.com/Pet-Central-SATX-866684826744181/ and LIKE us to help us out. After we review your application, we will contact you, and you will have the opportunity to find out more from their foster family or the rescue. If you experience any issues filling out the application you can contact us directly at shaynerescue@gmail.com. This is ONLY if you have problems applying. If there are problems with the website, please email me for help. HAILEY is a wonderful Border Collie mix. DOB 4/8/24; 40#. She is smart and affectionate, adventurous, athletic, and curious of the world around her. She is confident and easily trained. That's the Border Collie in her. She loves to play with all the dogs with no defensiveness. Loves to ride in the car but at first, she's a bit excitable. She calms down after a while, though. She loves people and wants to please. She wants to be a lap dog - she obviously needs some training. She is crate trained and fairly good on the leash. She does have a high prey drive for cats and squirrels, too. She would be great for a family with kids. She is not a digger or fence jumper and loves water. This dog is CURRENTLY IN TEXAS and available for pre-adoption. Story
Stella is a 7 year old tri colored Aussie who is greatly in need of a diet and a loving forever home. She arrived to rescue weighing 70 lbs and should be closer to 45-50 lbs. She is up to date on shots and is spayed. Despite not having her needs met in her previous homes, Stella is the friendliest gal you’ll ever meet. Her current foster shared this: “Hello friend! My name is Stella and I know we will be friends as soon as we meet. I am happiest when I’m around people who like to pet me and you won’t be able to resist my thick, soft coat! I can describe myself as happy, gentle, and very well mannered. Even though my foster mom calls me Chunky Monkey, I don’t beg for food. I’m on a strict diet now, so human food is counterproductive to what my doctor has told me. I love to take walks and I don’t need a leash when I’m in my own yard. I won’t jump up to greet your friends and I’m especially slow to approach young children so I don’t scare them. Your furniture is off limits; I really prefer my dog bed or bare floor. I can’t wait to find my forever family! I promise to love you all!” The details: Needs fence: No Good with dogs: Reported to be Good with cats: Reported to be Good with kids: Yes All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. Story
Welcome back to rescue Mia! Mia, affectionately known as "Pork Chop", finds herself back into rescue for the second time. Originally ARM got her in 2022 when she was found as a stray. When she was listed on Petfinder, her owner contacted us and said that she had been looking for her for months. The decision was made to return the dog to her as it seemed that there was a connection between Mia and the family. A few weeks ago, we got a call from Home Again (Thank goodness for microchips!) that a dog with one of our microchips had been found laying alive, exhausted in the middle of a busy road. A kind woman rescued her, brought her to a local vet to check for a chip and took her home to keep her safe. Mia came to rescue filthy and full of mats. She also has ballooned from 50 to 87 pounds. Other than desperately needing to lose weight, Mia is an otherwise healthy and happy 5 year old black & brown Aussie mix. She is spayed and has been brought up to date on her shots. Mia is crate trained and is housebroken. Her fosters are now working to help her lose weight. Mia has gotten along with the resident dog and adores attention from people. It is not known on how well she does with kids, so we currently are recommending older children until we have opportunities to test her against younger children. We don't want to require a fence for Mia as she really does love her people amd wants to be with them. However, prospective families need to be able to show how they will keep her safe until reliable recall has been established. The details: Needs fence: Not currently required, but established recall before having her off lead is highly recommended Good with dogs: Yes Good with cats: Unknown Good with kids: Age 10 and older All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com.
