Check little Sienna out! This little border collie blend was found out in the cold on the streets of Ada, MN. She was held with the Ada Police Department for a weekend, and brought into NWMNAR first thing the following Monday morning at daybreak. Little Sienna stayed on stray hold for a week, has been spayed, brought up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and now looking for her furever home! This little gal is spirited and definitely holds her own. Her personality is bigger in size than she is with a bit of a dominant personality and is a quick learner. She has been around other dogs while vacationing here at the rescue and is brushing up on her social skills. Sienna was adopted, and yet returned as she wasn't working out with active lifestyle. She would prefer a calm quiet home where she can be loved. Sienna is available for adoption, and is also currently seeking a foster home! Fine Print: All dogs of NWMNAR are screened at the headquarters in Ada, Mn until they are vetted. They are then transferred to foster homes throughout MN and some into ND so they can get used to lifestyles with a family in a home. Adoption fee for an adult dog is $300 + Mn tax. Adoption fee for a dog over 3 years of age is $300 + Mn tax., pup/dog1 year to 3 years is $400 + Mn tax. Under 1 year of age $500 + Mn tax. Because NWMNAR is not a public shelter, meet and greets do not take place until an application has been approved and a home visit has been completed in person or virtually. We brought Mayla home from a local farm where both of her parents worked with sheep, and she has carried that loyal, active drive with her ever since. She has been a deeply cherished and sweet family companion, proving herself time and again to be wonderfully gentle and great with our kids.Mayla is an active girl who thrives when she gets plenty of outdoor exercise, long walks, and mental stimulation. Her absolute passion in life is playing fetch with a frisbee, she is a natural athlete, an expert catcher, and could happily play for hours if you let her. After a lot of family discussion, we have made the difficult decision to rehome her. With our second child here, we simply no longer have the time and energy she truly deserves to stay happy and fulfilled.

Percy is doing SO well, and we honestly can’t believe how much he has changed in such a short time. When Percy first came to us, he was a very scared 4-year-old Border Collie. Because of his unfortunate past, he was especially fearful of men and would even become nervous when I simply walked into the room. But with patience, love, and a little time, Percy is discovering that he is safe. Today, Percy sits beside me, happily lets me pet him, and even gives me the sweetest hugs and kisses. He now gives both me and my wife plenty of love and affection. He is also becoming much more comfortable with our adult dog but has so many feelings he doesn't know how to handle them sometimes and this can be overwhelming to him. Because of this he would do better in a home with no dogs, but he would love company of a cat or two. He also has been wonderful around our grandson. Percy is an incredibly smart, energetic boy who absolutely LOVES to play ball and run in the yard. He also happens to be the best dog on a leash we have ever fostered! It has been amazing to watch this scared dog slowly come out of his shell and show us the loving, playful personality that was there all along. We know Percy is going to be so excited when he finally finds his forever family. We truly hope there is someone out there who will give Percy the loving, patient forever home he deserves. He has so much love to give and is ready to continue his journey toward a forever home. I'm Lassie, a 10-year-old, 48# Border Collie and Australian Shepherd mix (best guess), and I'm proof that growing older means you appreciate the good things in life. My theme song is "Happy" by Pharrell Williams. Once you meet me, you'll understand why! I love a nice, leisurely walk, followed by a fluffy dog bed where I can stretch out and relax. I'm also an enthusiastic fan of pets, attention, and giving kisses to my favorite people. My foster family says I'm the perfect dog! I read the room like a pro: my fun, puppy-like energy comes out when it's time to play. Laying low while you're busy is no problem at all. I'm easy-peasy. My ideal home is peaceful with a family who enjoys staying close to home and believes in getting out for daily exercise. Short strolls are my favorite - I'm an amazing walking companion. Traffic, strange noises, and other dogs do not bother me. My fosters have taken me on outings to a parade and a brewery, and I got an A+ at both events! I could happily live with another calm dog or be your one-and-only. Best in a home without kitties or small animals I would interact with (chickens, ducks). Gentle, calm children could be part of my family, too. A fenced yard would be wonderful but its not a requirement. I want to be near my people, only outside if they are with me. At just 18 months old and around 40# (plus a whole lot of fluff!), Marco is an adorable Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix (our best guess). He is a loyal, slightly clumsy and utterly lovable Velcro dog, happiest wherever his people are. With lovely medium energy, Marco is always up for playing and doing things with his family. He is equally happy relaxing in the yard, soaking up the sunshine while watching his favorite show, Bunny TV. Cuddling with his humans is another favorite pastime. He discovered the joy of toys, and his goofy play style is downright adorable. Marco can be shy when meeting new people. He prefers to take his time, observe, think things over, and then decide when he's ready to approach. Once he feels safe, his sweet personality shines.
