Story

Kobe would do best in a home in which he would not need to be alone/crated for long periods of time. He would do great in a home with older children and/or another dog(s). Kobe loves other dogs! I've been able to do some play sessions with him and my dog that likes other dogs.. My one dog is patient and makes corrections as needed that Kobe is receptive to. So Kobe learns fast and is a really great dog. Kobe has some separation anxiety as a result of neglect by his previous owner. We’ve found that when he has a human nearby and access to toys that are okay for him to chew, he's amazing at switching between keeping himself busy with his toys and then taking a nap near his human(s). He loves chew toys and is very food motivated. Kobe also loves blankets, cuddles, and naps with his humans. We have not witnessed any signs of aggression in Kobe. While Kobe is eager for food, but Kobe has not displayed any signs of food aggression or aggression or resource guarding with toys and treats. He's a smart boy that is very trainable. He knows “sit” and “down,” although he does best when hand signals are paired with the verbal commands. We've slowly progressed from not just getting Kobe to sit before eating, but to also getting him to wait to be released to eat. I also think if someone was interested, he'd be great at agility training and/or dock jumping. Age: 2 years. Weight: 40 lbs Vetting: neutered, scheduled to update vaccines and heartworm negative Temperament: Loves people good with dogs and older respectful kids. Charlie is a happy, loving boy who has been waiting for his forever home for a long time. He is full of life and loves to play with toys. His exuberant and playful nature is sure to bring joy and energy to any home. Charlie gets along well with other dogs, making him an ideal companion for those with canine siblings. However, he is not a fan of cats, so a cat-free household is a must. Charlie used to have a tendency to be possessive of his toys, but with dedication and training from the shelter staff, he has made significant improvements. He now responds to the 'out' command and is learning to share his toys. Requirements for a New Home: Charlie would do best in a home without children, as he may not be comfortable around them. An experienced dog owner who can provide the necessary structure and consistency for Charlie to thrive. The new owner should be committed to continuing the positive reinforcement and training work that the shelter staff has started. Charlie is a wonderful dog who deserves a loving forever home. His playful and loving nature makes him an ideal companion for someone who understands his needs and is willing to provide him with the support and care he requires. Lucy is a beautiful little Boxer mix girl, about 10 years old and 40 lbs, who loves going for walks and playing outdoors.  She’s had a fair amount of training and knows her basic commands, but as with any dog, she could use an owner who will keep up her training. Lucy is cautious upon meeting new people but once she trusts you, her loving side shines through.  She has a strong personality that requires an experienced dog owner. Lucy loves to go for rides in the car, walks at the park, swimming, playing with her toys, and spending time with her favorite volunteers. She has spent far too long waiting for her forever family to come along (almost 7 years in the shelter...). Violet Beauregarde Lonestar is 5 years old and 60 lbs and was saved from a Texas shelter with minutes to spare!  She has a bunch of energy so would benefit from an active owner. Violet is good with dogs but prefers if the other pooch knows some manners! She does great in the car and is an excellent walker, even likes to go running. Although this beautiful girl is sweet and cuddly, she can tend to get over excited at times - so, children should be older/considerate.  She needs an owner who will provide her with rules and has some dog experience. Violet is a sweet happy girl who would like a quiet home to live in with not a lot of visitors. Are you looking for a smart, eager to learn, affectionate big lap dog!? Look no further. Rocky is your guy! At 3 years old and 60 lbs, this guy thinks he is still a puppy. Rocky is incredibly smart and knows several unique commands such as spin around & roll over, but he knows the basics, too, like Sit, Down, Stay, Eat & Speak. Rocky likes other dogs and would probably benefit from living with one as he can be a little insecure at times. He loves his friends and enjoys meeting new ones at the park or the vet. He does however like to protect his home so he prefers a more controlled introduction to new people for that. He has also lived with older children (6 & 12 years old) and did well with them. Rocky sleeps in his crate quietly all night. And he's smart enough to let you know when he needs to use the outdoor restroom by whining. He's good in the yard & doesn't try to jump the fence - he does love to play ball, too. He's young so he would love to have a home where he'd get exercised. Goldie is an adorable 3 year old sweet heart. After her owner recently realized they were not a good match, she was unfortunately returned to our care. Goldie is very confused and upset at our kennels. She doesnt understand where she is yet. She is looking for a new home with a family who will shower her with love! Goldie's endearing shyness is her hallmark. She absolutely loves those who she is close with! Other dogs can be a bit scary for her at times but she has met dogs and done fine with some.
