Sugar is 7-8 months old and just about 40 pounds. Sugar is a boxer mix and was part of a litter of 8, all with excellent temperaments. Most have already been adopted into loving homes and now it’s Sugar’s turn. Sugar is good with dogs, people and children. She has not been cat tested but we will test for an approved adopter. Kyla was brought to the shelter by animal control when she was found living in a car with her owner, who loved her dearly but could not keep her with nowhere to go. Kyla was taken in by a shelter and waited many months for someone to come and get her. She has been a staff and volunteer favorite and has been easy for everyone to handle -  see how nicely she takes a treat  here . Kobe would do best in a home in which he would not need to be alone/crated for long periods of time. He would do great in a home with older children and/or another dog(s). Kobe loves other dogs! I've been able to do some play sessions with him and my dog that likes other dogs.. My one dog is patient and makes corrections as needed that Kobe is receptive to. So Kobe learns fast and is a really great dog. Kobe has some separation anxiety as a result of neglect by his previous owner. We’ve found that when he has a human nearby and access to toys that are okay for him to chew, he's amazing at switching between keeping himself busy with his toys and then taking a nap near his human(s). He loves chew toys and is very food motivated. Kobe also loves blankets, cuddles, and naps with his humans. We have not witnessed any signs of aggression in Kobe. While Kobe is eager for food, but Kobe has not displayed any signs of food aggression or aggression or resource guarding with toys and treats. He's a smart boy that is very trainable. He knows “sit” and “down,” although he does best when hand signals are paired with the verbal commands. We've slowly progressed from not just getting Kobe to sit before eating, but to also getting him to wait to be released to eat. I also think if someone was interested, he'd be great at agility training and/or dock jumping. Age: 2 years. Weight: 40 lbs Vetting: neutered, scheduled to update vaccines and heartworm negative Temperament: Loves people good with dogs and older respectful kids. Lucy is a beautiful little Boxer mix girl, about 10 years old and 40 lbs, who loves going for walks and playing outdoors.  She’s had a fair amount of training and knows her basic commands, but as with any dog, she could use an owner who will keep up her training. Lucy is cautious upon meeting new people but once she trusts you, her loving side shines through.  She has a strong personality that requires an experienced dog owner. Lucy loves to go for rides in the car, walks at the park, swimming, playing with her toys, and spending time with her favorite volunteers. She has spent far too long waiting for her forever family to come along (almost 7 years in the shelter...). Adopters are often turned off by the fact that she will require multiple meets to learn its ok to trust you. Will anybody take the time to love Lucy..? Meet Violet Beauregarde Lonestar, a 6.5-year-old, 60-pound bundle of energy! Saved from a Texas shelter with minutes to spare, this beautiful girl is eager to find her forever home. She would thrive with active owners who can match her energy level, and although she's good with dogs, she appreciates canine friends who mind their manners. Violet loves a good game of fetch and will spend hours in our kiddie pools if we let her.  Violet is excellent in the car and a superb walking companion; she even enjoys a good run with her volunteer friends. She is sweet and cuddly but sometimes prone to over-excitement, so she would do best in a home with older children, if any. An owner with some dog experience, who can provide structure, rules, and a quiet home will be her perfect match. Are you looking for a smart, eager to learn, affectionate big lap dog!? Look no further. Rocky is your guy! At 3 years old and 60 lbs, this guy thinks he is still a puppy. Rocky is incredibly smart and knows several unique commands such as spin around & roll over, but he knows the basics, too, like Sit, Down, Stay, Eat & Speak. Rocky likes other dogs and would probably benefit from living with one as he can be a little insecure at times. He loves his friends and enjoys meeting new ones at the park or the vet. He does however like to protect his home so he prefers a more controlled introduction to new people for that. He has also lived with older children (6 & 12 years old) and did well with them. Rocky sleeps in his crate quietly all night. And he's smart enough to let you know when he needs to use the outdoor restroom by whining. He's good in the yard & doesn't try to jump the fence - he does love to play ball, too. He's young so he would love to have a home where he'd get exercised.
