Story
LIKES TO BE HELD TO YOUR CHEST WITH HER PAWS OVER YOUR SHOULDERS DOB 4/13/25 Hey there, everyone! I’m Pluto, a sweet, loving, and very playful Bombay mix gal with copper-penny eyes and a sleek, shiny black-patent leather coat who can be a little shy at times. I have a little ritual every morning in that I come to Foster Meowmy for love and cuddles. Although a lot of my siblings like to be held tummy-up like a baby, I prefer for Foster Meowmy to hold me to her chest with my paws over her shoulder. And whereas my siblings seem to love being held endlessly, I start nibbling on Foster Meowmy if she holds me too long! After my feral momma birthed Karma, Jupiter, Opal, and me outside of Foster Meowmy’s house, she moved us to inside a neighbor’s car (through the open window, I might add). Then Meowmy moved us to a box on her porch, but when Momma saw some neighbors pick us up, she moved us a few doors down to a used-car business. Imagine Foster Meowmy’s surprise when she looked inside an old car and found not only us under the driver’s seat but also another litter of four kittens under the passenger’s seat!! She gathered up both of our stowaway litters and carefully placed us in boxes on her porch so that we could safely nurse. Our mommas continued to move us multiple times, and Foster Meowmy always managed to find us and put us back in our weaning boxes. Finally, when we were five weeks old and could eat on our own, Foster Meowmy brought us all inside to the safe haven of her home where she could care for all of us. She even was the perfect feline Florence Nightingale when she administered antibiotic ointment to some of our crusty eyes. Now that we’re fat and sassy, you can imagine the kitten mayhem that goes on inside our big foster bathroom! We tumble and pounce, climb and wrestle, and when we’re exhausted, we collapse in a kitten puddle. We’ve all got a little mischief in our genes because we love to escape the foster bathroom, but I’m usually the mastermind who comes up with the most ingenious way to escape our foster bathroom and lead my siblings behind me. And once I am loose in the house, I’m very good at hiding so Foster Meowmy can’t return me to the bathroom. I love Foster Meowmy and am so grateful that she gave me a chance at the fabulous indoor life of a pampered pet. Now I’m ready to bring my loving, cuddly demeanor to my forever family. Arrange to meet me today, and Foster Meowmy will show you how I like to be held to her chest so I can look over her shoulder. If you’re looking for a pair of kittens, please consider adopting me with one of the other seven #car-stowaways. We think it’d be the cat’s meow if we could be adopted together so we could be playmates and cuddle buddies while you’re at work or on vacation. HOPE ID 25-0614-A048 Pluto is currently in the Houston, Texas area but can be transported to this location upon adoption. The $325 adoption fee includes transport, health certificate, spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for FIV/FeLV, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment against fleas and parasites. Story
BIRTHED THEIR LITTERS ON THE SAME DAY DOB 10/1/23, 10/1/24 Hey there, everyone! We’re Winter and Summer, a sweet, calm, and gentle mother/ daughter duo who is very bonded to each other. Although we cry when we’re separated, we both adore sharing quiet moments with Foster Meowmy – especially when she rubs Winter’s belly or gently scratches Summer’s ears, chin, and cheeks. Boy howdy! Does that ever feel good! Winter says, “I’m a loving Turkish Van mix gal, which means that I’m white except for a black cap on my head and black tail. I’m really quite a stunning beauty who will mesmerize you with my shiny gold-coin eyes and plush, snowy-white coat. When Foster Meowmy’s not available to dispense belly rubs, I’m quite content to pass the day basking in a patch of sunshine on the windowsill. It’s the perfect spot to watch “kitty TV” as squirrels scamper up the trees, birds fly by, and brazen lizards stare at me through the glass.” Summer says, “I’m a playful “bicolor,” which means that I’m mostly white except for soft brown tabby on my head, back, and tail. My natural eyeliner and lipstick give me a glamorous look, if I do say so myself! I’m barely more than a kitten myself, so I have a playful side that loves to sneak up on toys like a wild little huntress. You should see the enthusiasm that I have when Foster Meowmy waves the wand toy up, down, and around the room!” Winter continues, “I deserve to live a life of leisure because by the time I was 19 months old, I had already delivered two litters of kittens at an apartment complex in southwest Houston. Like mother, like daughter -- I was a year old when Summer was born, and Summer was seven months old when we both gave birth to a total of nine kittens on the very same day in May!” We merged our two litters so none of the kits knew which of us was their momma or grandma. We raised our kittens together as true partners to insure that our kittens got the nonstop love and nurturing they needed to thrive. When the kits were six weeks old, a kind HOPE volunteer rescued all eleven of us from the apartments and brought us into foster care. Now that we’ve permanently retired from motherhood, we’re ready to teach our forever hooman family how to relax and chill out after a hard day at the office. Oh the fun we all might have side-by-side on the sofa as we binge on Netflix and Animal Planet. To make our ecstasy complete, you just have to promise to give Winter an occasional belly rub and from time to time scratch the sweet spots on Summer’s head. Since we’re inseparable and cry when we aren’t together, we think it would be the cat's meow if we could be adopted together. We could be lifetime cuddle buddies and playmates while you're at work or on vacation. Arrange to meet us today! Incidentally, there are advantages of adopting kitties who are past the stage of kitten mayhem. We’re much less likely to cause chaos in your home or break your treasured accessories. HOPE ID 25-0609-S039, S040 Winter and Summer are currently in the Houston, Texas area but can be transported to this location upon adoption. The $425 bonded-pair adoption fee includes transport, health certificate, spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for FIV/FeLV, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment against fleas and parasites. Story
HEARTWARMING RESCUE STORY DOB 8/26/22 Hey there, everyone! I'm Lollis, a delightful, playful “torbie” gal which means that I'm a brown tabby with patches of peach that makes me look like I was splashed with caramel in a candy factory. Although my independent, freedom-loving spirit has proven helpful in dealing “as needed” with the dogs, other cats, and kids in my foster home, my innate friskiness has made me a perfect companion for those same kids. I’ve been very bonded to Foster Meowmy ever since she spotted me at her jobsite as a seven-month-old stray kitten who had no momma or siblings in sight. Realizing that Foster Meowmy was my ticket to a life that was better than dumpster diving, I wasted no time and ran up to her. She scooped me up and drove home with me cuddled in her lap. Yes, our special connection began on that unforgettable journey. To this day, in those cherished moments when I need a little snuggle, it’s Foster Meowmy to whom I turn when I seek cuddling. Once in my foster home, I was overjoyed to kiss the hardscrabble life good-bye! Boy howdy! Brimming food and water bowls, climate control, and safety from predators all spelled security and happiness to me. Plus the resident cats could teach me the manners that momma would’ve taught me if she’d been around. I hope that my heartwarming rescue story has touched your heart. Yes, I chose Foster Meowmy, and now it's time for you to choose me to be your next feline companion. I want to become an integral part of your life and make every day an adventure worth sharing. Arrange to meet me today, and let's form a bond that's unbreakable! Incidentally, there are advantages to adopting a gal like me who’s past the stage of kitten mayhem. I’m much less likely to cause chaos in your home or break any of your family heirlooms. HOPE ID 23-1014-A047 Lollis is currently in the Houston, Texas area but can be transported to this location upon adoption. The $325 adoption fee includes transport, health certificate, spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for FIV/FeLV, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment against fleas and parasites. Story
TIMID SWEETHEART DOB 8/8/25 Meet Sunkist, a gentle little ray of sunshine who’s still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. Rescued from a feral momma cat, she came into rescue timid and unsure—but beneath that shyness is the sweetest heart just waiting to bloom. Sunkist is slow to trust, but once she feels safe, her soft innocence shines. She adores calm, friendly kitties and finds comfort in their company. Give her a ping pong ball, and she’ll happily bat it around with quiet joy. She’s the kind of kitten who blossoms in a peaceful home with patient people who understand that love sometimes grows best when it’s given time. If you’re willing to offer a tender heart, a gentle voice, and a safe space, Sunkist will reward you with a love that feels extra special because it was earned. Give love a chance—and let Sunkist brighten your world. HOPE ID 25-0922-G222 Sunkist is currently in the Houston, Texas area but can be transported to this location upon adoption. Story
Meet Georgia, your new best friend!!! Adoption Application: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/ROSE/Cat Georgia and her sister Ginny (also adoptable) are two peas in a pod!! Georgia is a play machine, and loves to wrestle and chase her toys. After a good zoomie, she loves to settle down for a good nap and a snuggle. Ginny is the braver of the two gals, and helps her sister Georgia feel safe when she is scared. They are a dynamic duo who are ready to find their forever home! Ginny and Georgia were trapped from a cat colony, very weak and sick from a life on the street. They have been nursed back to health and are getting bigger and stronger every day!! They had a traumatic start to life, but are they learning to feel safe and secure. These girls will need a forever family that lets them warm up at their own pace. All they need now is you to give them the love and attention they deserve!! The two kitties aren't bonded and would be fine if adopted separately, however. Ginny and Georgia are ~8 months old, spayed, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and in great health. They do a great job of keeping their litter box tidy. All they need now is a forever home! They have never met a dog, but with slow introductions to a calm, cat-savvy pup, we think they could learn to love a new dog friend. They may be overwhelmed with rambunctious toddlers or young kids, but would be fine with an older or cat-savvy kiddo. Priority will be given to applicants interested in adopting a pair of kittens or who have patient, playful resident cats or dogs at home. Adopt Ginny and Georgia, and double the love, double the purrs, and double the fun! --- The adoption application can be found here: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/ROSE/Cat Ginny and Georgia are currently in Houston, Texas but can be transported to the Northeast, the Pacific Northwest, or locations along these routes. ——— ABOUT OUR ADOPTION FEES: When you adopt from ROSES Rescues, you're doing more than giving your new family member a home. Each adoption fee pays for a cat on the streets of Houston to get fixed, helping end the cycle of overpopulation in a rough environment. We thank you so much for your contribution to our efforts! To learn more about our TNR (Trap / Neuter / Return) efforts, please follows us on Instagram @roses_rescues_htx. (All adoption fees also include transportation costs, spay/neuter of the animal, vaccinations, and microchipping.)
