Story
?Meet Chucky (A547069) a 2½-year-old 11lb survivor with a heart that’s ready to trust again. This little guy didn’t get the easiest start in life, and it shows in the way he approaches the world: cautiously, thoughtfully, and with a strong sense of what feels safe for him. He just needs someone who understands that respect and patience are the keys to his heart.Chucky is looking for a calm, stable home where his boundaries are honored and his personality can shine. He’d do best in an adult-only household or one with older, dog-savvy kids who understand that everyone has their grumpy moments. Honestly, who doesn’t?If you’re the kind of person who appreciates a dog with character — a dog who’s been through things and is still willing to try again — Chucky might be your perfect match. He’s ready for his second chance. He just needs the right person to give it to him.Currently in foster in Santa Barbara. To meet Chucky:Text 805-699-0975Email:sbcassouthfostercoordinator@gmail.com

Story
Meet Socks, an 11-month-old Pit/Heeler mix who’s never met a beach hedidn’t love. He’s all about sandy paws, salty breezes, and chasing waves —though his favorite part is curling up next to his human afterward for along nap.Socks is potty-trained, playful, and totally toy-obsessed. Tug-of-war? He’sthe reigning champ. A squeaky ball? Instant joy. And when the day windsdown, he’s happiest snuggled up in bed, dreaming about his next adventure. He’s great with other dogs and would love a confident canine buddy to helphim feel secure. His low prey drive means he might even be fine with cats.Socks is still shy with new people but getting braver every day with thehelp of patient, kind friends at the shelter. What this sun-soaked soul really needs is an experienced adopter who’llgive him time to trust — and maybe take him to the beach once in a while.Because under that shy exterior is a loyal, loving beach bum just waitingto find his forever wave.

Story
My name is Mac, and I’m a six-year-old good boy.Since February 2025, I’ve been living in a foster home with two cats and three other dogs, and I’ve done phenomenal. Unfortunately, the resident dogs don’t care for me that much. Anytime I try to play with them, they just stop playing. I guess they don’t like my play style, but I’m trying my best to learn and fit in. I don’t necessarily need dog friends. I actually prefer to bond and play with my human friends anyway.I’ve done really well with the cats — I kind of just do my own thing, and they do theirs.I absolutely love car rides and walks. I’m also a really good running buddy! Oh — and I absolutely love butt scratches.I can be leash reactive at times, but I’m currently in board & train with a trainer who is sculpting me to be the best boy possible for my future person/family. I’m so lucky to have people like him and my foster parents in my corner, continuing to support me and help me thrive over the years. I bond deeply with humans through play, especially tug-of-war, and I really thrive on routine and structure. I will do best in a home with low foot traffic. A single person or couple with no kids would be ideal for me. I’m good with cats and dogs, but again, I would thrive as your one and only. I’ve been waiting a really long time for my forever person, and I hope I don’t grow too old before they find me. Please give me a chance and reach out to meet me. I have a trainer who is committed to continuing my training, along with people who are willing to help guide and support my future family whenever needed.

Story
Cheena is a 7-year-old, 63-pound sweetheart who is more than ready for the love and care she has always deserved. She should be closer to 80 pounds, so she is working on gaining weight and getting the extra calories her body needs. What stands out most about Cheena is her heart. She is incredibly affectionate with both kids and adults and wants nothing more than to be close to her people. She loves hard, trusts deeply, and has so much love to give.Cheena is ready for a home where she will be spoiled, cherished, and finally loved as much as she loves everyone else.

Story
Luna came to us after losing one owner and then being abandoned by another. She was slow to trust — sitting frozen in her kennel for days. But once she opened up, we saw exactly who she`d been hiding: a silly, joyful, zooming, snuggling girl who had just needed someone to wait for her.Luna does the best zoomies. She greets her favorite handlers like they`re the most important person who ever walked through a door. She loves meeting new people, and — something we honestly weren`t sure we`d ever say — she loves meeting new dogs too. When she first came to us, she was undersocialized and reactive, and we weren`t sure she could share space with other dogs at all. Now she`s out in the yard with dog friends every day. We`ve done a complete 180, and we think a canine companion could actually be key to her success in a home. Here`s what we want you to know going in: change is hard for Luna. It was hard when she arrived, and it will probably be hard again when she moves to a new home. She has struggled to settle in foster situations — not because anything is wrong with her, but because her nervous system needs time to catch up with her heart. She`ll need a patient, experienced adopter who can give her space to decompress, maybe a room or corner to call her own, and the grace to let her get there at her own pace. Her excitability is something she`s still working on, and a little training will go a long way. What she needs in return isn`t much. A leash walk — which she`s great on. A chew toy and someone to sit beside — her ideal afternoon. The occasional snuggle. She knows sit and shake, she`s working on crate training, and she has so much love to give once she knows it`s safe to give it.Luna is worth the effort. Anyone who`s watched her come this far already knows that.
