Story
Meet Daisy — a little girl finally getting the second chance she’s always deserved. At 9 years old, Daisy is discovering what it truly means to be loved. Before entering foster care in January, she spent much of her life living on a farm, often in a garage, without the comfort, stability, and companionship every dog should know. Since then, her foster family has watched her slowly blossom into a devoted and affectionate companion.Daisy has made incredible progress in foster care. She is now kennel-trained, leash-trained, and learning household routines beautifully. She does well with pottying outside when let out consistently and continues improving with patience and structure each day.Because of her past, Daisy is looking for a very specific forever home where she can feel safe and secure. After years of relying only on herself, she prefers to be the only pet and would do best in a home without children. Early in foster care, she could be reactive when uncomfortable, but once her pain was identified and properly managed with medication, her true personality began to shine. With trust, consistency, and feeling physically better, she has formed strong bonds with her foster dad and the adults she knows best. And the real Daisy? She’s a sweetheart. A quiet shadow who simply wants to be near her people, soaking up love and companionship. She would thrive in a calm, lower-activity home with a single person or couple willing to continue giving her the understanding and stability she has worked so hard to trust. Daisy will need ongoing pain management, but in return she’ll offer unwavering loyalty, gentle companionship, and a whole lot of love. She may not have always had the chance to be this dog — but now she does. Could you be the one to give Daisy the peaceful forever home she deserves?Daisy is spayed and up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations. To schedule a meet-and-greet, contact:• 507-451-4512 • steelecountyhumanesociety@gmail.com Adoption fee: $300

Story
I came from a breeder. I am very energetic, dig when I am bored. I have not been around many new people so I get very excited when I do. I love to play fetch, am very smart and learn fast. I know a lot of commands. My mom and dad are re-homing me because of my mom's health issues. She cannot give me the physical attention I need. I attach to males more. I am available after May 23.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Boxer/Boston Mix | Senior | Professional Napper Dani is the ultimate comeback kid. She came to us after a really tough road—malnourished and recently a mom—but her spirit is completely untouched. She is a tiny, happy, independent soul who is just genuinely thrilled to be here. The Vibe Dani has the senior lifestyle down to a science. She still has plenty of "let’s go!" energy and playful zoomies, but she’s also a pro at taking long naps. She’s an absolute superstar in her kennel, too—totally chill overnight or while you’re away. The "Lunge-Nibble" Dani is a "full-contact" lover! Because she’s small and gets so excited to see her people, she tends to launch herself forward for what we call "lunge-nibbles." There’s zero bad intent behind it; she’s just a tiny ball of enthusiasm who doesn't quite have an "off" switch for her kisses. To keep everyone happy, she’d be best in a home without small children. Health Update When she first arrived, her eyes were very cloudy from her past, but they are clearing up beautifully now that she’s getting the nutrition she needs. She navigates the world with confidence and is ready for her next chapter. Dani’s Wishlist: A home with adults or older kids. Someone who loves a dog with a bit of an independent streak. A comfy couch for her frequent naps. Dani has been through so much and is officially ready for the pampered retirement she deserves. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. My name is Miss Sammy. I was a sidekick for a truck driver since I was 6 weeks old. Then I could not easily get in the truck and my dad's new company said I could not ride with him any longer. The transition has been confusing to me after I made a long road trip from Ohio to MN where I met my foster family. I would bark at the door and outside. My foster mom thinks I was hoping my family would hear and find me. But I have lots of love in my heart and have opened it up to my foster family. I follow my foster Mom around like a Velcro dog. My favorite pastime is when the kids play with me. They squeak my toys and crinkle the paper inside. I get so excited when they do this. Sometimes I even bark at them to ask them to play. I have a white face but don't let that fool you. I still have bursts of energy. My foster kiddo discovered I fetch the ball one day. I love to bring it back. But when the foster dog jumped in front of me and grabbed the ball I got pretty upset. He is bigger than me so I feel like I have to let him know who is boss. It would not be a good idea to play fetch with another dog present. I growl at him through the baby gate when we eat our food so I food guard, as well. Otherwise, I am chill around him and we get along. I am 60-65lbs and I look so tiny. But I am pretty solid. I have not asked to jump on the couch, but I did whine a little to get on the bed. However, I am fine sleeping on my dog pillow next to my foster parents' bed. I fuss a little bit when put in the kennel, but then I calm down and nap. I do not pull on a leash. I do bark at other dogs. When I am riding in the car, I bark at anything that moves. My foster mom does not know if I am doing it out of anxiety from the move or if this is typical of me. But I am an all-around great dog. I am trained and my foster mom says I am easy to have around. If you have stairs in your home my foster mom wants you to know I am a little slow going up steps, but the vet did not find arthritis. He did say I need to lose 5lbs, otherwise, I am healthy. He said with my cute personality I will go fast. If you are looking for a pretrained smart, playful, but also calm companion I am the one for you. I will melt your heart with my soulful gaze, when I am trying to tell you something. And I am pretty vocal once I know you. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Darlene Mannino for more information about this pet.Poppy update!   My name is Poppy. I was returned after 6 years with my last home. I was not so friendly with my foster sisters when I got here. I finally got use to being around other dogs and am learning to be part of a pack. I'm gonna need a strong alpha parent to help me to continue to grow out of my shell. I've never been around other puppers. I'm potty trained and have never had an accident in the house. I like to eat by myself and I may take all day to eat my food. I'm a lovey dove and love to be loved on. I try to be bossy and need reminding that I don't have to be bossy. I will follow you around anywhere you go.   Her DNA test results: 66% Boxer 14% German Shepherd 14% Chow Chow 6% Labrador Retriever  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 10, 2026, 5:12 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, I’m Buddy and looking for my forever home! I’m currently couch surfing with my foster mom and 2 foster fur siblings. I’m 11 years old but don’t let my age fool you. I’m good with being a couch potato but also good with running around all silly. I’ve been with my foster family for almost a month. At first she kenneled me and I did great in there. Now I have free range of the house. My foster mom works from home and I sleep in the dog bed in her office. When she leaves you can find me and my fur siblings sleeping on the couch or being apart of the neighborhood watch. I get along with both female and male dogs. I’ve been around a few other dogs besides my foster fur siblings and everything went well. I love to snuggle up in my dog bed or blankets near others. At night I sleep in the human bed. I can get up on the couch no issues but my foster mom’s bed is high so I use dog steps. I love to run and play outside and I recently started playing with dog toys. When someone comes to visit, I bark at first but then I get excited to meet new people. My foster mom has a fenced in yard so I can roam all over. I do love taking walks and walk very nice on a leash. I’ve never had an accident in the house while living with my foster family.
