Winston came to us when his owner went into a nursing home and the family didn’t want him so they gave him to a person that knew we did rescue and after keeping him they decided to turn him over to us to find him his last forever home. He maybe almost 13 yrs but he doesn’t act it. While he may not run a marathon he, sill can hang with another adult small dog. He really would enjoy having a home with a nice fenced in yard, someone he can follow around all day and sleep with at night. Are you that person? Lonely? Well Winston is here to help you get over that. He’s ready and willing to grace your home with himself. He will also be your body guard and protect you against strangers and things that go bump in the night. So, when a stranger comes to your door proper introductions are needed. Once he knows they are friend then he’ll be fine. But don’t let that stop you from having the “bestest” friend you’ll ever have. Our must haves for him are: Fenced in yard Someone that’s home all the time or retired Can be an only dog or with another adult to senior dog(small) No children, they would make him too nervous No cats If you fulfill these requirements then go to our website and fill out the online adoption application. We’ll be in touch in a jiffy and don’t forget to let your vet know we’ll be calling for a reference. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. We cannot adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.

Story
I rescued Raiya 10 yrs ago. She loves walks, chewing bones, cuddling on the couch with you. She lives with 2 cats and tolerates them. Shes a good watch dog, lets you know when someone is at the house.I recently learned at her last vet appt, she has an autoimmune disease.which can be managed with meds. Her body doesnt like red blood cells. She cant have any preventative shots, like rabies, leptospira. So should not be subjected to new dogs, she will get sick, if they have any issue. Once shes been around another pet, she should be fine. Shes still active, loving just has some restrictions. An open yard, she will wander as she is a hound dog. She has developed some arthritis in her back, which stairs, jumping up on a bed or couch should be avoided. A dog bed and cushion is what she lies on.Raiya is treat inspired, loves most veggies, apples, dog biscuits, raw hides. I try not to give her people food, but sometimes she will lick the yogurt container, if i let her. Great dog🥰

Story
He was adopted at the Buffalo Animal Shelter in May of 2025. I’ve had him for a year. He as up to date on all his shots as of May 5th 2025. He’s a fun full of energy dog. He prefers to be in a home with either a second dog or someone who has a fenced in yard. He loved being outside and and playing. He is roughly 2.5 years old and still has a lot of his puppy energy. But he’s a good dog. Extremely friendly

Story
Sasha was rescued from a puppy mill in 2025, then sent to the SPCA. We adopted her in March 2025 and were her first real home. Sasha is a sweet and cuddly dog who loves string cheese instead of typical dog treats! She loves going for walks and cuddling up on the couch. Because of her puppy mill origin, she still doesn't play with toys but every once in a while we find her walking around with her stuffies in her mouth. She also enjoys fetching her string cheese or eating it from a canine treat puzzle.

Story
I found Raiya at a shelter in Eden 10 yrs ago. She loves her food, can be agressive about it. Does ok with other dogs, but likes being the only one. She does growl wgen touched from behind as she had a broken leg when she was 6mos old. She has never biten anyone or another animal. She has lived with my rottie and 2 cats, shes tge boss. Just warns if too close. She does have an autoimmune dicease that stops her nails from growing. Which is kind of nice. She can be a sweet heart when she knows you wont hurt her.
