Story
Meet Texas (aka Simba) / Liam(his old shelter name) Age: 1.5 years Breed: Labrador Retriever Location: Buffalo, NY Looking for: A calm, patient home with experience or willingness to support a shy, anxious dog Texas, lovingly nicknamed Simba for his lion-like appearance, is a beautiful 1.5-year-old Lab who’s navigating the world with a cautious heart. After a long journey from Texas and being separated from his littermates, he’s been adjusting slowly and steadily in his foster home here in Buffalo. He’s not your typical energetic pup—he’s a quiet observer, still learning to feel safe and understood. Temperament & PersonalityTexas is highly anxious and fearful of new people and environments. He is not yet comfortable being approached or touched by unfamiliar humans and will retreat or growl if approached too quickly—especially if someone looks him directly in the eye or reaches for his head. He thrives when given space and time, and slow, respectful introductions are a must. Despite his hesitations with people, Texas is dog-friendly—but only in open spaces where he has the freedom to move away if needed. He does well at daycare with a small group of dogs, enjoying the occasional interaction before retreating to a quiet spot. Food & RoutinesTexas is a total foodie! He absolutely loves home-cooked meals, especially chicken and rice, and will patiently wait while his food is prepared. Treats are a great way to start building trust, but they should be offered slowly and from a distance—gradually working toward closer contact over time. Play & ActivityHe’s not a playful dog—at least not yet. He prefers calm surroundings and isn’t interested in toys or games with humans just yet. However, he loves car rides! So much so that if you head outside for a walk, he’ll guide you to the car instead. He may need some gentle redirection to stay on track for a walk. Training & House HabitsTexas is mostly house-trained. He does all his business outside when taken regularly, but since he drinks a lot of water, he sometimes uses training pads for pee when indoors. He is crate-trained and finds a lot of comfort in that space. He’s currently working on: Building confidence with human interactions Engaging with puzzle toys and calming activities Walking confidently on a leash Expanding his comfort zone with structured exposure Important Notes for Potential AdoptersMultiple meet-and-greets are required, ideally over the course of a week, in calm, quiet areas or near his foster’s home. Do not pet or approach him directly for the first week or more—give him time to observe and warm up. A home without small children is necessary, due to his fear of fast movements and loud environments. He does best in a quiet, structured home with someone who can offer consistency, routine, and lots of patience. Texas is not for the average adopter—he needs someone special. Someone who sees past the fear and into his gentle soul. With time, understanding, and space to grow, this boy has the potential to feel safe, loved, and maybe even a little playful one day. Meet StarCrunch! Hound Mix | 8 months old | ~45 lbs | Sweetheart Extraordinaire   Hi friends! My name is StarCrunch, and just like my name suggests, I’m as sweet as a Little Debbie treat   I’m an 8-month-old hound mix with a super social, loving personality.   WHITE SOXFemaleRoughly 12-14 months old‍35-40 pounds  Short haired Border Colie mix Up to date on all shots and Simparico, microchipped, spayed Potty TrainingGeneral Training with great foundation skillsSocialization  Leash training Will not do well with cats and highly energetic pets  Meet White Sox. She came up from Texas to find her furever home. Here's some facts about White Sox aka good girlie. This girl is the total package! She is toy and food motivated, and eager to learn! I have been socialized to other dogs and people of all ages. She has gone to daycare, but needs slow introduction to other dogs. White Sox is very much a Border Collie at heart. She needs a fenced yard for exercise between other activities including walks and mental games. She loves fetch but has to be called to come back with the ball sometimes just to test you. She knows her basic commands but needs continued work on duration (she has happy feet when distance and time is requested of her). She has no issues with bath time.  She has such a positive personality, has never barked, and is able to stay in a room in lieu of crate with no issues. However, she needs a family with an active lifestyle.  She is working hard on sit, come, down, touch, stay, leave it and leash training. As a bonus- she is learning spin/ paw/ sit pretty and roll over ( usually with a pit stop for belly rubs). Just bring the food and time and duration and distance will be mastered with practice.  She does commands away from the home and when working with more than one dog. Please note: if she is in a crate, she will have no issues with car rides. If not, she will head to the floor while the car is moving so some work is needed. If the car is stopped or it’s time to exit- she is right back to my happy self. Also— she loves to give kisses, so more four on the floor work is needed to avoid jumping. Otherwise, loud noises, vacuums are no issue for her at all!  If White Sox sounds like a great match, contact Buddy’s to set up a meet and greet. (85) ##2598844##

Story
Meet Schnitzel Your new shadow, snuggle buddy, and best decision ever The Basics Age: 1–2 years Breed: Grey/Brindle Pit mix Weight: ~35 lbs Schnitzel is a local boy who started life as a stray and came into the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter underweight and heartbroken . His sadness was impossible to miss. But once he came into foster care? Everything changed. This sweet soul is learning what it means to be safe, loved, and home. Every single day, his confidence grows. He’s discovering that meals are consistent, kindness is real, and trust is worth giving Why we’re completely obsessed with Schnitzel: Doing GREAT with potty training & crate training Learning manners and basic commands (and eager to learn more!) Very treat-motivated + responds beautifully to redirection Enjoys a quick play session with foster siblings… …then it’s straight back to hardcore cuddles (he’s a professional) Has the loudest, most dramatic yawns you’ll ever hear — truly iconic He wants to be where you are, always. Couch? Check. Kitchen? Check. Bed? Definitely. He’s the kind of dog who makes your house feel like home. Kids/Cats: We can’t officially confirm yet (current foster home is child-free and cat-free), but with his gentle, sweet nature, we don’t foresee kids being an issue. If you’re looking for a dog who will adore you, learn alongside you, and fill your life with love (and dramatic yawns ), Schnitzel might just be your guy.  Apply to adopt and meet Schnitzel today!Because every good boy deserves his forever @buddysrescue.org (6)   ##2618409##
