History: Our Out of the Cold Rescue Effort was a great success in welcoming over 180+ animals to rescue from rural areas in North Dakota before the cold set in. These animals are all so deserving and thankful to get a second chance in finding a forever home of their own! A Note from the Foster: Sweetie lives up to her name. She is full of love and ready to find her forever home. She’s got a beautiful white coat and is working on finding the right ways to show her abundance of love and happiness. Sweetie thinks she’s a lap dog and loves to lounge on the futon or the couch while snuggling her person. At 20 months she still has some puppy energy in her and burns that off playing chase with the resident dog in the backyard. Sweetie gets along well with other dogs about her same size. She doesn’t quite understand personal space and that she’s a bit bigger. She would be good as an only dog or with a sidekick to show her the ropes. Sweetie might be a bit much with younger kids but good for older kids that are active and love to play outside. Sweetie does have limited vision however she has adapted well to her foster home without accommodation. She does fine getting around without assistance and does the stairs without issues. Sweetie is still working on learning to take walks on a leash. Her vision and lack of confidence comes out. A fenced yard would be great for Sweetie. Her foster mom says Sweetie loves to run laps around the leaf piles in the backyard and has become comfortable navigating the yard on her own. Sweetie really is a sweetheart trying to live her best life. She loves to give licks and nose boops. Sweetie loves to carry her toys around the house and an occasional shoe or 2 have been found in her bed.

History and a Note from the Foster: Ichika was a breeder release rescued in July 2024. She arrived completely shut down. She wouldn’t move, look at us, eat, drink or even go potty for the first week. She has come such a long way since then. Ichika was adopted by a very nice couple in August 2024. She quickly bonded with the wife but became very fearful of her husband and ultimately returned to rescue. Ichika has been with us, family of four, while in rescue. She has bonded with myself and my 11-year-old son. For some reason, she does not care for my 15-year-old daughter and only tolerates my husband. We would all love to see her find her forever home she can be at ease with everyone. You’ll have to be extremely patient with her but once she trusts you, she is so sweet and so silly. She loves her walks and is perfect on her leash! I swear she looks back at me with a smile on her walks. She is getting braver around new dogs and humans. She also loves to zoom around the yard and chase the other dogs. She loves to lay in grass or on the steps to observe everything and take naps. A bigger fenced in yard would be best for Ichika. She likes her kennel and will often go there to rest. She keeps it clean. She is mostly potty trained, she does not give any queues when she needs to go. We try to go out with her to make sure she pees every couple of hours when she is not in her kennel and that seems to work well for her. She likes to hoard toys but is not aggressive about it. She will chew other items if left out or if she is unattended. Computer chargers, hats and mittens have been a couple of her favorite items. Ichika will do best in a quiet home with one other confident dog. One or two people with not too many visitors. She will need a fenced in yard and daily walks with resident dogs to help build her confidence. She will need time to decompress and your willingness to go very slow with her. She will let you know when she is ready. Coco’s Heart has a great process of how to work with timid dogs. It’s a slow process but is so rewarding once she trusts and bonds with you.

History: We recently welcomed a group of deserving dogs who needed help from overcrowded rural shelters in Texas. They are settling into their foster homes and doing well as they start their journey in finding their forever home soon! A Note from the Foster: Hi friends, I’m Will! 🐶 I just made my big journey from an overcrowded rural shelter in Texas all the way to Wisconsin, thanks to the amazing folks at Coco’s Heart Dog Rescue. Now I’m settling in at County Line K-9 Resort, and let me tell you—this yard is perfect for zoomies! I’ve been racing around with my new doggy pals like I’ve lived here forever. 🐕💨 So far, I LOVE everyone I meet—hoo-mans, pups, you name it. If you’ve got pets or belly rubs to give, I’m your guy! I also love to stick close by your side—wherever you’re going, I’m going too. Whether we’re outside exploring or just hanging out, I’ll be your little shadow. 🐾 And when it’s time to wind down? I’m all about the cuddles. Snuggling up after a long day of zoomies is kinda my thing. 🧸💤 My foster family says I’m so sweet, playful, and have the biggest heart. History: Our Out of the Cold Rescue efforts continue all winter long as we have recently welcomed another deserving group from our rural area partners in North Dakota. Blueberry is the very best! She loves all people of all sizes and does not seem to care about cats in her space. She is good with dogs who are quieter/calm however does not seem to enjoy higher energy young dogs so a home without other dogs would likely be best for this girl. She also loves car rides! A Note from the Foster: Meet Blueberry, A Sweet, Smart, and Loving Companion Blueberry is truly a gem! From the moment she arrived, it was clear she had been well loved before. She’s happy, confident, and eager to please, with a beautiful coat and an even lovelier personality to match. Blueberry enjoys the simple joys in life, a good walk, a sunny spot in the yard, or a cozy nap by your side. She’s the perfect balance of playful and relaxed: she’ll happily explore outdoors with you, then settle in quietly with a chew toy or bone while you work or unwind. This girl is polite and trustworthy around the house. She’s kennel trained but doesn’t need to be confined, and she’s never chewed on anything she shouldn’t. She loves belly rubs, ear scratches, and any bit of affection you’re willing to give. In fact, she may nudge you gently just to remind you she’s there for love. Being an Australian Shepherd mix, Blueberry is bright and responsive. She knows her basic commands (sit, down, stay, come) and takes direction well. She’s improving on her leash manners and only needs occasional reminders not to pull. Like most dogs, she’s curious about squirrels and other critters, but she redirects easily with a bit of guidance. Blueberry is also on a healthy living journey. She’s a bit heavier than ideal but is steadily slimming down with the help of nutritious food, healthy snacks (carrots, apples, and peas are her favorites!), and regular walks. Who’s the Best Fit for Blueberry Blueberry would thrive in a loving home where she can be part of daily life, whether that’s relaxing on the porch, joining you for walks, or curling up at your feet. She’d likely do best as the only dog or with a calm, low-energy canine companion. Her ideal family will enjoy spending time with her, giving her affection, and keeping her mind and body active.
