Story
Note: Luna needs a new foster or forever home by the end of February 2026. His foster family will be selling their home and moving.  Luna's Personality Luna is a very friendly, inquisitive, and confident kitty. Despite his name, Luna is a BOY! When he was a kitten, his family thought he was a girl. He is a very social cat - he loves hanging out with his foster family and when guests come into your home he walks right up to greet them and often plops down on the ground to entice them to play with him. He loves being petted, and perching in front of a window to watch the world go by outdoors. Luna can be quite talkative so be prepared to have conversations with him! Luna loves interactive playtime with his foster family. One of his favorite interactions is when you wave a string on a wand so he can play with and jump on it. He also plays with toys on his own and likes having a box or drawer full of toys that he can rummage through and decide what to play with next. Luna also loves to hop inside a box or a paper bag. He even plays "hide and seek" with you - he will hide and loves having you look for him then he'll gently jump out at you. What Type of Home Luna Needs Luna needs a home where he gets plenty of interaction with people and has room to roam around. He is used to living in a single family home with multiple people, including children. A home with more than one person would be ideal. A single person home could work if that person is home a good part of the time and has guests that visit. A family with older kids (over 12 yrs of age) who are cat-savvy would be great, but no young children. He can get a little 'mouthy' when he plays - we are teaching him some manners. We don't know how he would be with other cats or dogs. Where Luna Came From Luna came from a loving home that was no longer able to care for him. So they contacted their neighborhood "cat lady" who happens to be an SPCA NOVA volunteer to ask for help finding Luna a new home.PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Please see our adoption guidelines at  https://spcanova.org/about-us/adoption-policies/. February 20, 2026, 12:40 pm

Story
&#239&#187&#191&#239&#187&#191Celeste's Personality  Celeste may remind you of a pup the way she wants to sniff your hand before letting you pet her. It’s probably to see if you have a treat for her! When you’re sleeping, she may crawl up on your pillow to lull you to sleep with her purrs. And she purrs a lot. Very loud and very often. Celeste is happiest when she is chasing her laser pointer, taking a nap in the sun shining through a window, or hanging out with her foster parents. This chunky charmer likes to be close by and follows you from room to room. This “heavenly” girl is super sweet. She is also a bit shy and will take a little time to warm up, but once she does, Celeste is a delightfully soft mush of a cat. Then she’ll be looking for pets as she sits on top of her cat tree. And give her a bit of catnip and she’ll be rolling over for a bunch of belly rubs. We love her sassy way of telling us what she wants. This girl is a talker…when she wants something, she will let you know. It’s all friendly talk, and very hard to resist. We find that she also likes to watch a little TV…so far tennis has been her favorite! She’ll perk up and watch the TV screen from next to you on the couch or her cat tree. It’s really cute. Between the catnip, the treats and her tree, she happily spends the day with you. Keeping an eye on your comings and goings. You’ll enjoy her gentle and endearing company. What Type of Home Celeste Needs  Celeste needs a peaceful home with an experienced cat caretaker who understands that she will need a little time to adapt. She would be fine with a quiet, older cat-savvy child. Celeste would do best as the only cat in her home unless she stays with her sister, Nova (posted separately). They do fine together but don't interact much because they have different personalities and needs.  Celeste is on a very strict calorie and portion-controlled over-the-counter canned food diet. Her caretakers need to be committed to sticking with her strict weight management plan with monthly weight checks. We will supply a pet scale to keep her on track. Where Celeste Came From  Celeste, and her sister, Nova (adopted), were adopted out as kittens to what we thought was a wonderful home. Sadly, their caretakers decided, just shy of their 8th birthdays, they didn’t want them anymore. However, based on their neglectful condition, this has turned out to be a good thing even though this upheaval has been hard on Celeste. Both girls appear healthy despite being very overweight. Getting the girls to a healthy weight of about 12 lbs each will take time but will ensure better health and longer lives. PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Please see our adoption guidelines at  https://spcanova.org/about-us/adoption-policies/. January 16, 2026, 12:55 pm

Story
Meet Prince, the royal companion you've been waiting for! This friendly, gentle, and affectionate cat loves nothing more than to be wherever you are-whether it's lounging on your lap or keeping a watchful eye from his favorite spot on his cat tree. When he's not supervising from up high, Prince is always up for a play session, especially with his favorite catnip-filled toys. Because of his social nature, he's looking for someone who spends time at home (and therefore with him!). Prince has heart disease that is currently being managed with daily medication, and will require a patient and proactive adopter to help monitor his condition. If you're looking for a sweet, attention-loving buddy who will be your constant shadow, Prince is your perfect match! Come take your Prince home today.
