Story
Lily's Personality DOB: 11/1/25 Lily is an adorable dilute calico - with plenty of grey and peach patches of color on a white coat. This girl is friendly, curious and bold. She doesn't have a care in the world. She enters a new home with new people and is immediately curious. After she is satisfied that her new space is to her liking, she is ready for playtime then lots of cuddles. She easily climbs into your lap when she wants some affection. And sleeps by your side at night. What Type of Home Lily Needs Lily thrives on playtime and interaction with people. So she needs a home where people are around to give her plenty of interactive play and attention. A home with older kids would be great. We have not seen Lily interact with other cats but are confident she would thrive in a home with another young, playful female cat. Where Lily Came From Lily came from a loving home with a family that suddenly lost their home. A family member took them in but couldn't accommodate Lily since other family members are allergic to cats. So this sweet girl suddenly found herself in need of a new home. Safe in SPCA's care, we will make sure she finds another loving home.PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Story
Felipe's Personality DOB: 2/1/25 Felipe is a young, friendly grey and white tabby. He looks like he's wearing black lipstick and eyeliner! Felipe is a bold and confident cat who loves playtime - with his foster mom and other cats. He settled in easily, not hiding at all, and enjoys playing with the other two male cats in his foster home. Felipe engages one of his foster “brothers” in chase-and-wrestle games until his "brother" wears out! Felipe is generally respectful of his other “brother,” who is older and has no interest in playing, though Felipe occasionally needs reminders to back off. He’s not a bully; he just wants to play! Because of this, Felipe needs another young playful male cat in his forever home. When Felipe is not playing with a "brother," he loves to chase a toy on a fishing pole. He sometimes likes to playfully "ambush" you as you walk by - he is still learning to be gentler and only ambush toys. Felipe is learning how nice it is to be petted - initially he would playfully nip your hand. He has never been shy, but prefers playtime to being petted. He is starting to enjoy affection more and more and has even started climbing into his foster mom's lap. Felipe loves eating as much as playing and is enthusiastic about his meals. He is not picky about wet food and prefers wet food to dry food. Type of Home Felipe Needs Felipe needs an experienced cat caretaker who understands some cats prefer playtime to affection. He's a young, strong cat who thrives on interactive playtime - with people and other cats. He needs a home with another young, playful male cat to bond and play with. No young children now or in the future. An older cat-savvy child (over about 12 years of age) may be ok. Where Felipe Came From Felipe was found living outdoors by a kind family with 3 cats and 2 dogs. With an already full household, they were not able to keep Felipe but cared for him until he came into SPCA's care.PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Story
Note: Nova needs a new foster home - no other pets!  Nova’s Personality DOB: 5/1/2019 Meet Nova...a beautiful, affectionate, playful, and chatty girl who just wants to be close to her humans. Need a bodyguard for the bathroom? She's got you covered! Nova even checks in after you take a shower just to make sure you're okay. This sweet fluffy girl loves to cuddle up in your lap with a cozy blanket and may even curl her paws to hold your hand while she snoozes. She just wants to be your little shadow. Nova also loves playing with her humans. She chases after a laser, leaps to the highest heights to catch a tossed fluffy ball, and loves tackling feathered wand toys. She enjoys lots of petting and even being brushed for short periods. But mostly, she just wants to curl up close by, knowing you will keep her safe. What Type of Home Nova Needs Nova needs a quieter home without other pets or young children - now or in the future. An older child in a quiet home would be fine if the child knows how to interact with cats. She needs to have a stable, loving home that will give her a little time to adapt. Nova may be shy at first with new people, but she quickly warms up to a peaceful, loving home environment. Where Nova Came From Nova was recently adopted from a shelter by a kind woman who has given her a loving home. However, her resident cat has not accepted her. To give Nova the right home environment, SPCA has agreed to find Nova a new home that gives her the peace and stability she needs to thrive. Nova was in her original home since she was a kitten until her family added two other cats, a dog and two children to their home. When Nova didn't adapt well to these changes, they surrendered her to a shelter. PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Story
Champ's Personality DOB: 1/1/25 Meet Champ...a playful, affectionate, talkative brown tabby with golden eyes! What’s not to fall in love with? Be prepared for a kitty who follows you around and plops down next to you. Not to worry...if you are wondering where he has wandered off to in your home, just call his name and he's back to you in an instant.  Champ loves being around people - he greets you when you come home and even says hello to your guests! He loves being petted and showing you his belly. Champ also thrives on interactive playtime - especially chasing string toys, carrying little balls around in his mouth, and batting toys around. He snuggles with you in bed at night and is good about sleeping through most of the night. What Type of Home Champ Needs Champ needs a home where he gets plenty of people time. He's a young playful male cat who needs stimulation...interactive play, brushing, and ongoing interaction. He's social, playful and full of personality - an ideal companion for people who want an engaging cat. We haven't seen him interact with kids but he would likely do fine with kids who know how to interact with cats (about 8 years of age or older). We also think Champ would thrive in a home with another young playful male cat. He had a few brief interactions with the older cats in his first foster home with the woman who rescued him from outdoors. Her cats are elderly and not receptive to other cats...but Champ was persistent in wanting to interact with them. Where Champ Came From Champ was a stray kitty found outdoors crying for food and affection. Although he ran right up to the woman who found him, he was also very scared and would hide after eating or hearing a loud noise. He clearly didn't belong outdoors. Now safely indoors, with all of his vetting completed, he's a happy boy loving a good indoor-only life.PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Story
Celeste's Personality  DOB: 7/20/17 Celeste may remind you of a pup the way she wants to sniff your hand before letting you pet her. It’s probably to see if you have a treat for her! When you’re sleeping, she may crawl up on your pillow to lull you to sleep with her purrs. And she purrs a lot. Very loud and very often. Celeste is happiest when she is chasing her laser pointer, taking a nap in the sun shining through a window, or hanging out with her foster parents. This chunky charmer likes to be close by and follows you from room to room. This “heavenly” girl is super sweet. She is also a bit shy and will take a little time to warm up, but once she does, Celeste is a delightfully soft mush of a cat. Then she’ll be looking for pets as she sits on top of her cat tree. And give her a bit of catnip and she’ll be rolling over for a bunch of belly rubs. We love her sassy way of telling us what she wants. This girl is a talker…when she wants something, she will let you know. It’s all friendly talk, and very hard to resist. We find that she also likes to watch a little TV…so far tennis has been her favorite! She’ll perk up and watch the TV screen from next to you on the couch or her cat tree. It’s really cute. Between the catnip, the treats and her tree, she happily spends the day with you. Keeping an eye on your comings and goings. You’ll enjoy her gentle and endearing company. What Type of Home Celeste Needs  Celeste needs a peaceful home with an experienced cat caretaker who understands that she may need a little time to adapt. She was initially pretty reserved in her foster home but has completely come out of her shell. Celeste would be fine with an older cat-savvy child who understands how to be around cats. Celeste spent most of her life with her sister, Nova. They didn't, however, interact much with each other and now that Nova has been adopted, Celeste is actually happier and more outgoing. So she needs to be the only cat in your home. Celeste came into our care very overweight. She has made progress losing weight and will need to stay on a very strict calorie and portion-controlled diet (mostly canned food). Her caretakers need to be committed to sticking with her weight management plan with monthly weight checks to monitor progress. We will supply a pet scale to keep her on track. Where Celeste Came From  Celeste, and her sister, Nova (adopted), were adopted out as kittens to what we thought was a wonderful home. Sadly, their caretakers decided, just shy of their 8th birthdays, they didn’t want them anymore. However, based on their neglectful condition, this has turned out to be a good thing even though this upheaval has been hard on Celeste. Both girls appear healthy despite being very overweight. Getting the girls to a healthy weight of about 12 lbs each will take time but will ensure better health and longer lives. PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Please see our adoption guidelines at  https://spcanova.org/about-us/adoption-policies/. May 1, 2026, 12:53 pm

Story
Meet Prince, the royal companion you've been waiting for! This friendly, gentle, and affectionate cat loves nothing more than to be wherever you are-whether it's lounging on your lap or keeping a watchful eye from his favorite spot on his cat tree. When he's not supervising from up high, Prince is always up for a play session, especially with his favorite catnip-filled toys. Because of his social nature, he's looking for someone who spends time at home (and therefore with him!). Prince has heart disease that is currently being managed with daily medication, and will require a patient and proactive adopter to help monitor his condition. If you're looking for a sweet, attention-loving buddy who will be your constant shadow, Prince is your perfect match! Come take your Prince home today. To learn more about how to adopt Prince, please fill out an adoption application (https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LDAC/Cat) or email questions to cat.adoptions@lostdogrescue.org.
