Story
Dottie likes peacock feathers hiding under tissue paper and snoozing on soft blankets in a quiet corner, or under a chair. She's extremely playful and gets the zooms on a daily basis. Dotty has not had many human friendships, so she prefers people that are calm and patient with her while she figures things out. She has learned that they can be very fun to play with and often come with food. She is very shy, but curious about her foster house and its resident cat, who wants nothing to do with her. Dotty is brave when it comes to meeting dogs, but would probably prefer a home without one. She will make a terrific companion for someone who is willing to give her time to adjust and become comfortable in a new space. Thank you for your interest in Dottie D! Story
Meet 'Rumple'! This beautiful cat was found outside as a stray, covered in fleas and having had to defend herself against predators. She is a tailless Manx breed, which are known to be smart, very affectionate, to get along with children, and very loyal. Rumple's foster mom agrees with this...she is followed everywhere when Rumple is not basking in the sun or sitting on the couch or her lap. Rumple loves to just hang with her people, explore and play, take naps, watch squirrels...well, she IS a happy cat!Rumple has moderate Manx Syndrome, in which a few bones in her lower spine are missing along with her tail. It gives her a unique walking gait and adds to her charm. She has minor incontinence, which her foster says does not slow her down or cause much mess. Come meet this special girl! Thank you for your interest in Rumple! Story
Thomas is very sweet and smart boy. He is quick to learn anything: tricks, treats, not to scratch furniture, playing 'track the wiggly thing under the blanket and guess where it pops out next'. Thomas is not afraid of anything, and his foster mom thinks he wants to be an engineer when he grows up. He wants to investigate close up the running vacuum cleaner, the saw blade (!), even the lawnmower out the window. He has beautiful long fine fur and loves to be brushed and scratched. He is such a hoot to watch when he slides on hard floors because of the tufts of fur between his toes. He is very sensitive to allergens such as dust. He needs a high quality diet and needs to be on meds to keep his sensitive skin at bay. He loves to sleep in the sun, greet people at the door, follow his human around, and he claims a spot on the bed right next to you. He is not clingy and is just happy in a busy home where he can watch and participate and play. Thomas loved his dog buddy in his previous foster home, and he is great with small children! Come visit Thomas to meet this super fun boy. Thank you for your interest in Thomas L! Story
Calico darling Kiki came to HART from Southern Virginia with her kittens Oscar and Misty. Kiki is barely out of kittenhood herself, and is a playful, curious, and beautiful young cat. She is on the timid side, so Kiki would probably be most comfortable in a quieter, adult-only home. She may need a slow introduction and a patient person, but she's very social and loves attention. She'll reach up and hug her foster mom's leg with her little front legs to get attention! She's also a real purr machine. Apply to meet Kiki! Thank you for your interest in Kiki!
