Story
Hello, here is the famous cutie at our house, his name is Chico. He is an adorable dachshund and pug puppy mix. He is 1 year old He's adorable and likes to play with toys, loves spending time playing with kids and family. He loves going out on walks everywhere, specially at the beach. He loves running on the grass. He knows to play ball and run fast besides you while doing some jogging. He learned some good comands such as waiting for your command before eating and waits for you to tell him eat when you say the command Go! He is potty trained and has a schedule, goes potty in the morning around 7am, after a meal around 11am and before bed time around 10pm. We want him to go to a loving and caring family. We just ask for a family that will care for him for the rest of his life.

Story
Meet Snowball – The Lovable Little Screwball Still Waiting for His Big Break! We honestly can’t believe it—how is Snowball still waiting to be adopted? This 1.5-year-old, 6.5-lb Jack Russell Terrier mix is a whole lot of happy packed into a tiny body. Affectionately nicknamed “Screwball” for his goofy personality and endless energy, Snowball is equal parts hilarious, affectionate, and wildly entertaining. He brings the kind of joy to a room that makes you wonder how you ever lived without him. But behind his bright spirit is a story of resilience. Snowball came to us in December 2024 as a frightened little stray, unsure of people and the world around him. With time, love, and a safe place to land, he transformed into the bold, playful, and endlessly curious pup he was always meant to be. Now, he’s more than ready to bring that same joy to a forever family of his own. Snowball is still a young guy with puppy-like tendencies, so he’ll need continued guidance, structure, and positive reinforcement training. But he is so eager to please and highly trainable—this is a dog who wants to get it right and just needs someone willing to show him how. As a likely Jack Russell mix, Snowball is smart, feisty, and full of zest. He needs a home that understands small dogs with big personalities and is ready to embrace all the fun (and chaos) that can come with them. What Snowball Needs in a Forever Home: ~An active household ready to keep him engaged, mentally and physically ~A home without young children—he does best with adults or older teens ~A dog-savvy adopter willing to invest in training and structure ~A potential canine sibling might be a fit—but only if they’re laid-back and tolerant of his big personality. He can be bossy with little dogs and a bit of a challenger with larger ones! Snowball is already neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccinations. The only thing missing from his life is a home where he’ll be loved, understood, and cherished for the little firecracker he is. If you think Snowball is the perfect match for your heart and home, click the Adoption Application button below the bio on the RESCUE WEBSITE, and an adoption counselor will be in touch! Story
Meet Rocco! 🐾 Rocco is a 3-year-old, 15-pound Puggle with a heart as big as his playful energy. While he may seem a little cautious at first, once he feels comfortable, he reveals his happy-go-lucky personality. Think of him as a tough guy on the outside but a total teddy bear on the inside! Rocco has been thriving in his foster home, where he’s been learning important “petiquette” and working on commands like sit, stay, come, and loose-leash walking. He’s also crate-trained and enjoys having a cozy spot to call his own. Sometimes his excitement and impulses get the best of him, but he’s making great progress with positive reinforcement training and would benefit from continuing this in his forever home. Rocco loves to play and has shown potential to excel in small dog agility with the right training. Whether it’s entertaining you with his antics or curling up on the couch for a snuggle, he’s happy to do it all. He does well with other dogs he's been properly introduced to and would love a buddy who matches his rough-and-tumble energy while also setting a good example for him. However, he can also thrive as an only dog if he has plenty of engagement and companionship. Given his size, age, and personality, Rocco would do best in a home with mature or older children. He enjoys taking his time to approach new situations and thrives with a routine that helps him feel secure. Rocco’s past is a bit of a mystery, as he was found wandering the streets, but he’s ready to leave that chapter behind and start his new adventure with a loving family. Ready to meet Rocco? Click the Adoption Application button below his bio on the rescue website to get started, and one of our adoption counselors will be in touch! Story
Hi! My name is Beanie! A sweet 8 lb, 6 yr old Maltipoo. At first, I'm bashful, shy, introverted, timid, and coy because I don't trust strangers. But once I warm up to you, if we are introduced in the way I am comfortable with, I become happy-go-lucky, carefree, engaging, adaptive, and cheerful! I adore snuggling! But I don't share my cuddles with just anyone; I prefer to get to know you a bit first! Nothing would make me happier than to find a family to devote myself to! You won't find a more dedicated, loving companion! I can't think of anything better than getting love and attention from my family! Affection is my middle name! I am fine around other small dogs, though I'm not really interested in interacting with them. I am a people dog for sure. Big dogs are absolutely not my jam. I truly believe I am bigger than them. I would prefer to be the center of your universe and not have to share. While I do get along with others, due to my size and personality, I would do best in a home without young children. I had a home that was amazing, but when the kids came along, it just went south. When socializing with people, I have a hard time with new people. I like to take my time approaching new situations. While I am a bit shy with new faces and places, I warm up as I become more familiar with my environment. I am a picky eater. The rescue has finally found the food I love after trying several brands, flavors, and textures, so I hope that I can stay on this food when I go home. And please, no water or wet food in my meals, I will go on a hunger strike! Treats I am totally down with, though, so bring those on! My foster parents have helped me to learn manners, or what we call 'Petiquette' and how to be calm. I do not like to be alone at night, and I am afraid of the dark. Safe in your arms, in your bed with you would be amazing! They have also been working with me to learn sit, wait, kennel, outside, and other commands, and I am doing really well. I am leash-trained with a harness as well as crate-trained. Though I may have an accident or two while I get used to my new home, I am potty trained and will let you know when I need to go outside. As a MaltiPoo, I will require monthly grooming. I did great at the groomers when the rescue took me, and I was introduced to the groomer in a way I was comfortable, so we had a ball! I will also require tri-annual vaccinations and annual dental care. My previous dad taught me to leap into his arms from the ground, but not everyone likes it when I do this unexpectedly. My foster parents are teaching me to only do this when asked. I would make a great playmate, but would also love to join you on the couch. I'm happy either way! Going for walks, engaging in play, and doing outdoor activities with my new family daily would make me very happy! As I mentioned before, when the kids arrived, my dad tried for over a year, and it just was not working. They scared me, so no kids for me, but because of this, I was surrendered to the rescue. My dad had tears in his eye but it was the right thing to do for everyone. Before that, when I was just a year old, I was rescued from a busy freeway by a Good Samaritan, my angel! They are the ones who found my previous home, where it was great for 5 years until it was not. Now I am looking for a forever home that does not have other pets or young kids, and neither is in the potential future. If you think we may be a good match, or you would like to get to know me better, please click the Adoption Application button below my bio ON THE RESCUE WEBSITE. Here is the link: https://animals.smallbreedrescue.org/animals/561 - and you will be contacted by one of the adoption counselors! Please Note - Due to home introductions that are part of the adoption process, we can only accept applications for interested parties who are in or near North County, San Diego County, California at this time.
