Story
Marco is a beautiful Red Heeler mix with lots of interest in herding whatever there is to herd. He is a dog that would do best in a single-dog family as he is not interested in the companionship of other dogs, cats or children.Marco will soon be ready for his forever home!! He is currently in a board and train programwith Specialty Dog Training here in Oceanside, CA and in the ideal world, he would transitionfrom his training program directly into his new adoptive home. His board and train programincludes lessons for his new owners so here is a great opportunity to adopt a dog who hasseveral weeks of intensive training AND additional lessons for his new humans to help get“them on board” with the training as well!According to his trainer, this handsome guy is your typical cattle dog – intelligent, energetic, loyal to his human(s), can be wary of strangers and not necessarily concerned about building agroup of canine friends. Marco will thrive with a breed savvy owner who is looking for good-looking, canine partner to share life with. Going to dog parks or lying under the table at a café isnot something Marco would enjoy but a moderately strenuous hike or a learning a new activitylike scent training would be right up his alley! As with all cattle dogs, solid leadership from his human and a daily routine with structure willhelp Marco live his best life. He has been gaining confidence each week in his training programas he learns new skills and understands what is being ask of him. While his trainer believes hecould co-exist with another dog, he seems to be selective in his choice of canine friends. Wehave not seen him around children but unless the home is very breed savvy, we would notrecommend a home with children. Marco appreciates his space and children typically do notunderstand this concept well.If you are interested in adopting a dog with the mind of a rocket scientist and exceptionally good looks, Marco could be the one for you. He is currently reviewing applications so please click below and submit yours today if you'd like to come meet him.

Story
How this pet arrived: Sophie was brought in by a Good Samaritan on June 4, 2023. Why this pet is the one for you:Introducing Sophie, a beautiful girl who is sure to brighten your day! Sophie is a sweet but shy girl who is looking for a patient person or family who can help her build her confidence. With a little love and understanding, she will surely blossom into a wonderful companion. This girl would do best in an adult only home due to her shy behavior. Sophie may exhibit some leash reactivity towards other dogs, but with positive training and consistency, she can overcome this behavior - that being said, we do think she would do best as the only dog in the home. A patient and dedicated approach to her training will help her feel more comfortable and relaxed when encountering other dogs on walks. In addition to her need for positive training, Sophie thrives in an environment that provides her with a consistent routine and plenty of affection. As she continues to grow and gain confidence, her true personality will shine through, and you'll be rewarded with a loyal and affectionate companion. If you're looking for a furry friend who will bring joy and warmth into your life, Sophie may be the perfect match for you. With a little time and effort, you can help her overcome her shyness and enjoy a lifetime of love and companionship. Come in and ask about adopting Sophie today! Story
How this pet arrived:Bronco was brought in by a Good Samaritan on April 19, 2023. Why this pet is the one for you: Meet Bronco, a charming canine companion ready to bring joy and adventure into your life! Initially reserved, Bronco blossoms into a much more confident friend once he feels secure in his environment. He relishes gentle petting and attention but values his personal space, so big hugs are a no-go. Bronco is a lively and outdoorsy pup, thriving on long walks where he can indulge in his favorite pastime - sniffing out new scents. Story
How this pet arrived: Mufasa was brought in by Humane Law Enforcement on November 15, 2023. Why this pet is the one for you: Introducing Mufasa, a majestic boy in search of a new place to call home. Mufasa can be a bit conflicted when meeting new people but he has made a set of friends in the shelter who can brush him and handle him! It takes time for new people to get to this level, so he's looking for a patient and understanding adult home with low traffic where he can decompress at his own pace. Once he is comfortable, this boy can be quite the goof ball! Mufasa loves to chase small critters and finds it his duty to walk the perimeter and scan for intruding wildlife. Familiarity with the Chow Chow breed is a must for his new owners, as these dogs have unique characteristics. If you have experience with Chows and are ready to provide a calm and stable environment, Mufasa could be the loyal companion you've been looking for. If there's a resident dog, a meet-and-greet is required to ensure compatibility. Bring the whole family in to meet Mufasa and bring a leash and a martingale collar (or purchase one when you arrive), to take him home! Be a part of his journey to a new beginning and enjoy the rewarding experience of having this regal pup by your side! Primary Color: Brown Weight: 51.4 Age: 3yrs 5mths 2wks

Story
How this pet arrived: Kelso was brought in by a community member on February 18, 2023. Why this pet is the one for you:This is Kelso! What kind of dog is Kelso, you ask? Kelso is a purebred good boy! Kelso is a joy to be around and loves having a good time. His favorite activity is romping around with a plush toy and maybe even tearing it apart. He can really get into play time and would do well with an active household where he has plenty of things to work out his body and mind. Because of his energetic antics, he may do best with older, sturdier children. Once he gets his energy out, Kelso is a cuddler who loves hanging out with his favorite people. Kelso enjoys hanging out with other social dogs and going on walks together, sniffing along the way. He did come in with a leg injury that has since healed in its own special way. It doesn't slow him down in the slightest, but our vet team is ready to answer any questions that his adopters may have! Kelso is such a good pup that just needs someone as exited about him as he is about them. Come meet this pup and fall in love!Kelso has been chosen as a Volunteer Pick!
