Story
This is August, a 2yr old border collie mix. I rescued when she was 1. She was a stray and not socialized or trained. She is a sweet-heart, energetic, silly, sassy, and eager to learn. She knows a bunch of commands: bow, crawl, freeze, down, sit, touch, come, paw, high five, middle, side, etc and is a beginner in agility. She loves hikes. She is reactive toward strangers, dogs, and needs to be sedated at the vet. She needs a calm, compassionate, and fun household. She really is the best girl. I was diagnosed with a progressive chronic illness and am unable to take care of her physical needs. I love her more than anything and want to find her a home where she will be happy, fulfilled, and adored.

Story
We aquired Rodney from a breeder in VA 3 years ago. Life was much different then; my parents were in better health than they are now. With taking on the added household of 2 sick parents, I've had to drastically change my work schedule; there is little time to spend with him. Rodney is snippy with my elderly mom due to this. I need Rodney to have a great life. I am not able to give him the time; mental stimulation that he needs. We use to have chickens for him to protect which we no longer have for him to "work" for.

Story
Nyla's Story Meet Nyla! 🐾 Nyla is a beautiful 4-year-old female Shar-Pei/Pit Bull mix who’s ready to find her forever home. She arrived as a stray, and sadly no one ever came to reclaim her—but she hasn’t let that dim her joyful spirit. Nyla weighs about 53 pounds and is full of playful energy. She absolutely loves toys and is the kind of girl who happily brings them over to share with her human friends. On walks, Nyla can pull on the leash, but with consistent training and guidance, this is something she’s expected to improve quickly. She has tested well with other dogs and even cats, making her a great candidate for a multi-pet household. Friendly, fun-loving, and eager to connect, Nyla is now ready for adoption and can’t wait to meet the family who will give her the loving home she deserves. 💕 Apply to adopt Nyla at https://www.gloucestercountynj.gov/FormCenter/Animal-Shelter-5/PreAdoption-Application-50

Story
Vixxen's Story Meet Vixxen 🤍 Vixxen is a 7-year-young female Pitbull with a big heart and an even bigger personality. She came to us after her previous owner made the difficult decision to surrender her due to not having enough time—but Vixxen hasn’t let that dim her spirit one bit. She’s incredibly smart and loves getting out of her kennel. In fact, she’ll do just about anything to make sure you notice her! Her kennel manners might not be picture-perfect, but that’s only because she’s working overtime to make sure you hear her and don’t pass her by. Once that kennel door opens, her true self shines—she’s ready to walk, play, and soak up all the love she can get. 🤗 Vixxen is a strong, solid girl weighing around 65–70 lbs. She’s dog-friendly, loyal to her people, and would thrive with a family who’s ready to give her the time and attention she’s been missing. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who just wants to be seen, loved, and included—Vixxen is waiting for you. Please apply for Vixxen at https://www.gloucestercountynj.gov/FormCenter/Animal-Shelter-5/PreAdoption-Application-50

Story
Karma 's Story 🐾 Meet Karma! 🐾 Karma is an 8-month-old Lab/Spaniel mix weighing about 30 lbs with a gentle heart and a bright future ahead of her. She came to us through no fault of her own after her previous owner had to surrender her, and now she’s ready to find the loving forever home she deserves. This sweet girl walks nicely on a leash and loves exploring the world by your side. Karma does have an occasional limp from an old injury, but it doesn’t slow her down or dampen her happy spirit. Karma has done well meeting other dogs and even tested nicely with cats, showing she has the potential to fit into a multi-pet home. She does guard her food, so we recommend a home without small children where her boundaries can be respected and managed. With the right family, Karma will be a loyal, loving companion who’s ready to start her next chapter. 💛 We are now accepting adoption applications for this special girl. Could Karma be the one for you? 🐶 Please apply for Karma at https://www.gloucestercountynj.gov/FormCenter/Animal-Shelter-5/PreAdoption-Application-50

Story
eyton's Story ✨ Meet Peyton ✨ 8 years young | American Bully | 55 lbs of solid sweetness Peyton’s story begins quietly. She was found as a stray, and while we may never know what she’s been through, it’s clear she’s learned to move through the world gently and cautiously. Peyton is very timid and shy — a true low-key, chill kind of girl. She isn’t looking for chaos or constant activity. What she’s hoping for is a calm, peaceful home where she can finally exhale. She needs time, space, and patience to decompress and feel safe. This isn’t a dog who rushes into affection. She’ll come to you when she’s ready — and when she does, it means everything. Because of her sensitive nature, we recommend a home without young children. Peyton does best with respectful, understanding adults who know that love doesn’t always look like hugs and constant touching. She doesn’t want to be smothered — she wants to be understood. She can be selective with other dogs and would do best in a home without cats. And when Peyton starts to feel comfortable — you’ll see it. Her little wiggle starts, her butt begins to wag, and suddenly your heart melts. 💕 She’s absolutely adorable in her own quiet way, and once she trusts you, the bond you build with her is deeply special and incredibly rewarding. Peyton is a wonderful girl who simply needs someone willing to go slow, respect her boundaries, and show her that the world doesn’t have to be scary. If you have patience and a calm home, Peyton might just be the perfect companion you didn’t know you were waiting for. 🐾💛 💌 Adoption application: https://www.gloucestercountynj.gov/FormCenter/Animal-Shelter-5/PreAdoption-Application-50 Show less
