Story
I brought Peabo home at ten weeks old from Longview, Texas. He grew up with me while I lived in Louisiana and quickly became part of my daily life. He loves being near his person, following from room to room, and settling close when you sit down. Peabo is calm most of the time, with the happy bursts of energy you expect from a curious, rambunctious puppy. He loves to play and does especially well with kids. He is affectionate, gentle, and enjoys interaction without being overwhelming. He makes great eye contact and seems to truly pay attention. He is healthy, neutered, chipped, up to date on vet care, and comfortable living indoors. I am relocating overseas to reunite with my family, and the cost and complications of international pet transport make it impossible to bring him safely. This is a difficult decision but is about his well-being. I am looking for a home that will treat Peabo as a true companion. He has been well loved and will give that same love back in return.

Story
Name: Lucy Age: Approximately 2-3 years Breed: Mixed Health: Spayed, vaccinated, chipped Lucy is a former stray that I planned to take care of temporarily while taking time to find a good home for her. Unfortunately, my dog doesn't like her and she needs a new foster or adopter. She is a real people pleaser and wants nothing more than to be by your side. She is also very trainable and picks up on commands quickly. She should not be in a house with cats but mostly gets on with other dogs. She's also pretty good with kids and would make a good family dog. Vet records will be provided, along with basic supplies, like a pillow, food bowls, leash, etc. She is a real sweetheart who has been through some tough times and deserves a good forever home.

Story
Sweet Heather came to us when a realtor reached out about a woman moving and needing to rehome their dog. When our volunteers went there, the woman was losing her house and it was a hoarding case. Heather was well cared for considering, on preventatives, fed good food, annual vet visits and her mom loved her and had her since she was a puppy. It took Heather a bit to settle in her foster home, to be expected. But she is quite happy now, with two other foster sibling dogs to lounge with. She loves her daily walks and loves snuggling with her foster mom at night. She is a shedder, but loves to be brushed. She literally smiles at you when you brush her and pet her. She loves attention, and will bop her head in and under your hand for attention. She is on arthritis medicine which has helped her tremendously. She actually runs inside when her foster mom calls her. Her medication will cost you about $60 monthly. Heather is spayed, up to date on her shots and ready for her forever home. If interested in Heather, please fill out an application online at www.pldpaws.org or email with questions pldpaws@gmail.com. *Please note: we do home visits to complete adoptions. Please be within 60 miles of zip code 19029. Thank you.

Story
Socialization/training: Charlie knows the commands Kennel, here, “no”, off, trade, leave it. We do our walks with a no pull harness and that help reduce his pulling. He is a high energy dog. He gets along well with other dogs but he does try to be fun police with some bigger dogs(he's good with dogs over 20 lbs). He is a very well socialized and outgoing with all humans. He loves kids!  He is a very sweet dog.  Crate trained: Yes, but he has some separation anxiety. He LOVES to be outside in the securely fenced yard during the day. He's not a jumper, but can flip some latches, so gates need to be secure! Leash trained: This is a work in progress for Charlie. He needs a no-pull harness (Gentle Leader or Easy Walk harness) to reduce his pulling during walks. Activity Level: Charlie is your typical setter boy with high energy levels! He need an active home with active owners, as he is not a couch potatoe! Fence: Yes, he will need a home with a physical fence, but 4’ height would be fine for him. He respects the fence in his foster home. He doesn't jump the fence in his foster home but can flip some latches!  So a carabiner to stop that would be good.   Behavior: Charlie is a true setter with a high prey drive. He loves toys! He's not destructive to property apart from toys, which he likes to play with. He is a goofy boy! He wants to learn and is very food and toy motivated, so he's easy to train. He is very affectionate, as he likes to kiss and nibble his human. He is more of a velcro dog and likes to be with his person, he is learning to not follow his person around inside. Charlie wants to be outside with the squirrels during the day. He gets along with my dogs but can resource guard  with some dogs, (and squirrels apparently are a coveted resource!) he loves toys and has a good retrieve especially if you trade for a treat. Very food motivated boy! He needs a strong active owner. I would be concerned about him running into someone who is elderly or has mobility challenges. No cats or furry critters of any kind. He has also been unfriendly to a puppy in his foster home, so no pets under 20#.  Medical History: Charlie is a lucky boy, as with the help of Above & Beyond, he survived stage 4 heartworm disease! He is clinically normal and he should be able to reach typical life expectancy for a setter. He is on a supplement for his heart and needs yearly echocardiograms. This dog is amazing and tough. Charlie is neutered, UTD on vaccinations, microchipped and on HWP. Even though he has some residual changes on echo from the heartworms he is still not symptomatic. He gets sertraline for separation anxiety.  Foster Comments: Charlie is not suitable for low energy environment, as he is a high energy boy and needs to be able to burn off his energy daily. He will need patience from his forever home; he had no self-control behaviors before coming to rescue a year ago, but he has learned a lot and has come a long way. His adopter will need to continue working with him. He will still steal food Absolutely no cats or small prey type animals in Charlie's home, he is likely to try to get them. Foster Location: San Antonio, TX Volunteer transport can be arranged in the Continental US within a 1,000-mile distance between adopters & foster home. If interstate transport is provided for your adopted dog, there will be an additional charge of $75.00 for the required Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI).  Typically, we are able to transport your adopted dog to within 2 hours of your home. *Dogs can be adopted outside the 1000-mile transport distance; however, adopters must be willing to either fly their adopted dog, drive to a location within the 1000-mile transport range, or make independent transport arrangements for their adopted dog. Transports to far Western states, from Eastern states, may have additional restrictions. ##1782385##
