Story
Rocky is a 7 yr. old, neutered male bichon. Although Rocky supposedly lived with another dog in his previous home, he's been in foster care for awhile now, and we believe he needs to be an only dog. When he has been with other dogs in his foster home, scuffles and jealousy have been a consistent issue. He's much happier as an only dog. Rocky is house trained as long as he gets out regularly. If he is left alone for long periods of time or not given regular opportunities to go outside, he will mark in the house. Rocky LOVES visitors. He will snuggle up to anyone who comes over to get some love. However, his favorite thing is to just hang with his trusted peeps. We don't have kids in our household, and given his alpha personality, we think Rocky would probably do best in an adult home. However, with all the adult visitors that have come to our house, with very few exceptions, Rocky has been extremely friendly. He is put off by loud, "in your face" behavior. This causes him to be very tentative. If we are running errands and are just going to be running in and out of stores for a minute here and there, Rocky comes along for the ride. He's a great traveler and LOVES coming along. If he's welcome in a store or restaurant and there aren't a lot of other dogs, we bring him along. He's great with PEOPLE, but not so much with other dogs. Rocky is a couch potato when you want to sit on the couch and watch a movie or take a nap. However, he's also extremely active and playful. If you don't feel like playing with him, he'll find a toy or a dog bed and play with it all by himself. He can be a hoot to watch. If he feels you are not giving him an appropriate amount of attention, he will come over and either sit on top of you or "paw" you until you start doing your job! (i.e., petting him or playing with him!) Rocky's photos don't do him justice. We took them when he first arrived and they don't show his true personality. He's absolutely adorable. Just like all bichons, he's adorable, but his personality makes him even cuter. Everyone who visits falls in love with him. Story
Archie is a 14 year old, neutered male bichon. He has lived with his brother, Jethro, for nearly his entire life. Archie and his brother LOVE one another, and we'd like to keep him and his brother together. Both Archie and Jethro are very sweet boys. They came from a very sad situation where the owners, who were quite devoted to the pair, both died. They were the grandparents of the family. After their deaths, the dogs were given to an uncle who promised to care for them. Unfortunately, he was sick with alcoholism. He would leave for days at a time, leaving them trapped in crates with no food or water and no way to escape or go outside for bathroom breaks. Luckily the family became aware of the situation fairly quickly and you can imagine the horrific site they were confronted with when they were able to gain access to the house and get the dogs. At this point, Archie and Jethro are safely in foster care. However, they are living in a home where there is a dog-aggressive dog. For this reason they have to remain separated. Everyone is doing their best to make the most of a less than ideal situation. The two boys have been groomed and have been fully vetted. Both have had their teeth cleaned under anesthesia. They each lost a couple of teeth, but only a couple, which is a tribute to the care they received while living with their original owners - the grandparents. Archie had two 'warts' removed - one from his ear & the other from his chin. They are both as happy as can be and doing great. Fully recovered at this point and ready to embark on a new adventure together. Are you their new family? Bichons can live 18-20+ years. Are you that special family, willing to take a chance on a pair of wonderful dogs who are just looking for a quiet household where they can spend their 'golden years'? If so, go to our website and fill out an adoption application. They are very friendly, low-key boys. Not high-maintenance or needy at all. Just very appreciative to be in a good home where they are getting regular attention, regular meals and regular access to a fenced yard for exercise and bathroom breaks. If you'd consider adopting these two boys and giving them a home for their golden years, complete an application on our website: www. dvbr. org and someone will be in touch once we have had a chance to review it to set up a visit at which time you can meet the two boys. Story
Jethro is a 13-year-old, neutered male bichon. He is the brother of Archie. He is extremely friendly and loves to play and is the more active of the two boys. Click on Archie's listing to read more about the situation from which the two boys came and to read more about how to apply. Both boys have been groomed, have had a dental cleaning, and are ready to go off on a new adventure. We would consider adoptive or foster homes for these two boys since they are currently in a foster home where a dog aggressive dog resides. Therefore, they must remain separated from the other dog at all times and this is very challenging for the foster family. However, they came from a very terrible situation and needed to be removed immediately so the family agreed to take them. However, if we can find a more suitable foster family, we will consider moving them unless an adoptive one becomes available first. Story
Louie and all his buddies came from a home where there was a domestic violence situation. They needed to be removed immediately because they were in danger. Louie is just like his brother! Playful, lovable and mischievous. He's teeny tiny and can fit through VERY tiny spaces so he'll need to be watched carefully. Don't consider adopting Louie unless you have a great sense of humor, lots of energy, and plenty of time on your hands for house training and entertaining a bichon puppy! If you are interested, go to our website, fill out an application and someone will be in touch as soon as we have reviewed it.

Story
Coco and all her brothers and sisters (Hugo, Louie, Chanel & mom, Josette) were part of a domestic violence situation & had to be removed immediately from their home. They are now safely in a foster home, but they are teeny tiny and can squeeze through the picket fence at their new digs. We are hoping to find them a new place to stay as soon as possible where they will be more secure. None of the dogs are spayed or neutered yet, but all either WILL BE prior to being adopted (if they are an appropriate age) OR we will make arrangements with families to return them when they reach the appropriate age so that we can take care of the surgery. They will be fully vetted to the best of our ability based on their age, and spaying and neutering that can be done prior to adoption will be done. All four of these little pups are extremely loving, playful and mischievous. We can't leave them alone long or they get into quite a bit of trouble. If you've never experienced the shenanigans of a bichon puppy, brace yourself for some fun! Potential adopters are required to have a sense of humor! A secure yard would be a big plus, and another playful dog would also be helpful so you don't have to run yourself ragged playing with your new puppy friend! OR, you could always adopt TWO! Go to www.dvbr.org to fill out an application. Once we have it we will be in touch. Please be patient as we anticipate many applications. You can also get to our application by simply copying & pasting this link into your browser: https://dvbr.wufoo.com/forms/zoa3yk4014ohn8/ . We are working on housetraining, but Hugo, Louie, Chanel & Coco are puppies, so that process will need to be completed by their adoptive families. They have a good start though!
