Story
Sweet Heather came to us when a realtor reached out about a woman moving and needing to rehome their dog. When our volunteers went there, the woman was losing her house and it was a hoarding case. Heather was well cared for considering, on preventatives, fed good food, annual vet visits and her mom loved her and had her since she was a puppy. It took Heather a bit to settle in her foster home, to be expected. But she is quite happy now, with two other foster sibling dogs to lounge with. She loves her daily walks and loves snuggling with her foster mom at night. She is a shedder, but loves to be brushed. She literally smiles at you when you brush her and pet her. She loves attention, and will bop her head in and under your hand for attention. She is on arthritis medicine which has helped her tremendously. She actually runs inside when her foster mom calls her. Her medication will cost you about $60 monthly. Heather is spayed, up to date on her shots and ready for her forever home. If interested in Heather, please fill out an application online at www.pldpaws.org or email with questions pldpaws@gmail.com. *Please note: we do home visits to complete adoptions. Please be within 60 miles of zip code 19029. Thank you.

Story
Socialization/training: Charlie knows the commands Kennel, here, “no”, off, trade, leave it. We do our walks with a no pull harness and that help reduce his pulling. He is a high energy dog. He gets along well with other dogs but he does try to be fun police with some bigger dogs(he's good with dogs over 20 lbs). He is a very well socialized and outgoing with all humans. He loves kids!  He is a very sweet dog.  Crate trained: Yes, but he has some separation anxiety. He LOVES to be outside in the securely fenced yard during the day. He's not a jumper, but can flip some latches, so gates need to be secure! Leash trained: This is a work in progress for Charlie. He needs a no-pull harness (Gentle Leader or Easy Walk harness) to reduce his pulling during walks. Activity Level: Charlie is your typical setter boy with high energy levels! He need an active home with active owners, as he is not a couch potatoe! Fence: Yes, he will need a home with a physical fence, but 4’ height would be fine for him. He respects the fence in his foster home. He doesn't jump the fence in his foster home but can flip some latches!  So a carabiner to stop that would be good.   Behavior: Charlie is a true setter with a high prey drive. He loves toys! He's not destructive to property apart from toys, which he likes to play with. He is a goofy boy! He wants to learn and is very food and toy motivated, so he's easy to train. He is very affectionate, as he likes to kiss and nibble his human. He is more of a velcro dog and likes to be with his person, he is learning to not follow his person around inside. Charlie wants to be outside with the squirrels during the day. He gets along with my dogs but can resource guard  with some dogs, (and squirrels apparently are a coveted resource!) he loves toys and has a good retrieve especially if you trade for a treat. Very food motivated boy! He needs a strong active owner. I would be concerned about him running into someone who is elderly or has mobility challenges. No cats or furry critters of any kind. He has also been unfriendly to a puppy in his foster home, so no pets under 20#.  Medical History: Charlie is a lucky boy, as with the help of Above & Beyond, he survived stage 4 heartworm disease! He is clinically normal and he should be able to reach typical life expectancy for a setter. He is on a supplement for his heart and needs yearly echocardiograms. This dog is amazing and tough. Charlie is neutered, UTD on vaccinations, microchipped and on HWP. Even though he has some residual changes on echo from the heartworms he is still not symptomatic. He gets sertraline for separation anxiety.  Foster Comments: Charlie is not suitable for low energy environment, as he is a high energy boy and needs to be able to burn off his energy daily. He will need patience from his forever home; he had no self-control behaviors before coming to rescue a year ago, but he has learned a lot and has come a long way. His adopter will need to continue working with him. He will still steal food Absolutely no cats or small prey type animals in Charlie's home, he is likely to try to get them. Foster Location: San Antonio, TX Volunteer transport can be arranged in the Continental US within a 1,000-mile distance between adopters & foster home. If interstate transport is provided for your adopted dog, there will be an additional charge of $75.00 for the required Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI).  Typically, we are able to transport your adopted dog to within 2 hours of your home. *Dogs can be adopted outside the 1000-mile transport distance; however, adopters must be willing to either fly their adopted dog, drive to a location within the 1000-mile transport range, or make independent transport arrangements for their adopted dog. Transports to far Western states, from Eastern states, may have additional restrictions. ##1782385##

Story
King is a Six year old male Shephard. My husband is a retired police officer and thought he’d train king to be in his crate all day and taken out two times only. Once in the morning for about 30 minutes and in the early evening about 30 minutes also. King is never out of his crate when he’s in the house. I believe he’s extremely intelligent and not being exercised or stimulated enough which causes him to be aggressive when anyone, accep my husband goes near his crate. He’s been barking at night as a result and it’s causing problems at home. Otherwise King is extremely well trained, well behaved and incredibly intelligent. Would like to share that King is a gorgeous male unneurted and extreme playful and loving also. I am convinced bc we are in our late 60’s and hubby 73 that he’s become to strong for us to handle. Hence why he’s crated all day. He’s loyal, will love his owner and protect their family if needed.

Story
Socialization:  Frances loves to be petted by everyone and is very friendly.  She lived in a foster home with other dogs and cats, and raised her puppies there.   Training:  Frances walks well on a leash and will usually come when called, especially if you say "doggie bone!" when calling her.   She is trained to use a doggie door. Crate trained:  Yes. She usually goes in on command when you say "kennel" or "doggie bone."  She sleeps in her crate because she likes to chew on things in the home. Leash trained:  Yes, Frances walks well on a leash Activity level/requirements:  Frances is very glad that the exercise restrictions of HW treatment are over with.  She loves to run and play but isn't hyper. She'd rather play with her people than other dogs, because then she can get some added pets. Fence requirements:  Physical fence would need to be 5 ft or higher.   Personality:  Frances is very loveable and friendly to everyone she meets.  You couldn't ask for a more loving, friendly dog. She does like to chew, and will chew on inappropriate items so needs to be re-directed with dog friendly chewies. Health history:  UTD on vaccinations, is spayed/neutered, microchipped, & on monthly heartworm preventative. Frances came into rescue very pregnant, delivering her puppies within a day of arrival!  She was also HW positive.  She raised her pups, and was successfully treated for the heartworm disease. It is very important that she remain on HWP the rest of her life. Foster comments:  We love Frances, but we have several dogs in our home and want to continue to foster.  She has been a wonderful visitor in our home and we will miss her when she's gone but are looking forward to finding her loving forever home .Foster Location: Corydon, Indiana   Volunteer transport can be arranged in the Continental US within a 1,000-mile distance between adopters & foster home.
