Story
Breed: German Shepherd mix Age: 3 yr Gender: fe, spayed Wgt/Hgt: 55 lbs / 22 inches Energy level: low Relations: great with dogs once comfortable with them, good with kids, not good with cats  Highlites: playful, tripaw, joyful, very affectionate, independent, low exercise needs - no walking needed Hi everyone, my name is Annie Oakley. I am a beautiful and very happy girl, but that hasn't always been true for me. I used to live in the Middle East where at the very tender age of eight months I became pregnant. I was much too young to become a mother and all my puppies died. In addition my rear leg had been badly damaged, probably from being hit by a car. In the country I come from, dogs are considered vermin and people often deliberately hit us with their cars in an attempt to kill us. The wounds became badly infected and I was in terrible pain by the time I was finally rescued. The vet I was taken to wasn't able to save my leg and it had to be amputated. Despite this I am very mobile and can easily climb stairs. I can't go on long hikes but normal length walks are perfect for me.  I am a very loving and affectionate girl who has a real love of life. I enjoy the company of other dogs once I trust them and currently live happily with several dogs of all sizes. However, it takes me a few visits for me to feel safe with other dogs. So it is difficult for a potential adopter to take the time I need to get me familiar with their dog. So a home without another dog is best for me. I am happy being the only dog in the home as my true love is people. I have the cutest habit of splaying my front legs out wide when I want you to play with me. And if you pet me and stop and I want some more, I will wrap my front legs around yours to trap you and keep you with me. Adorable, right?  I am a really easy dog to care for, and to love. I very much enjoy being outside so a fenced yard is important to me. In fact, I don't need or want to go on walks. Because of my missing rear leg, I find walking too strenuous and much prefer hanging out with my person inside the home or outside in the yard. A covered deck for me to hang out on, watching birds and squirrels, is ideal for me. While I am a joyful soul, I am not at all hyper or high energy. At home, I am very calm and relaxed. My favourite thing to do is lie on my bed, chewing on a marrow bone or a chew stick. There is no way you could be unhappy with me around.  I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $600 plus applicable taxes* Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordatella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East. ##951485##

Story
I am currently in Greater Vancouver!Update from Foster: I continue to be a loving dog who greatly enjoys cuddles and playtime with my humans. I am working on my confidence with new people I meet as I am still recovering from the awful treatment I received as a puppy. I love playing with dogs who are kind to me and I look forward to getting to know my new adopters. I can live in a family with another dog but only if I get to know and trust them first. I would like a yard but as long as I'm near pleasant walking areas, a home without a yard would be fine too. Are you perhaps my new human?  Hana is a very sweet and affectionate girl who loves to cuddle and get pets. She loves to play with toys on her own and loves to chase balls, but still hasn’t figured out how to bring the ball back. She is very quiet and is housetrained. She eats her meals without any hassle. Oddly enough, she doesn’t like peanut butter, but loves roast beef! She is very easy to walk on a leash but can be fearful of other dogs that get too close. She is best suited for a home without any other pets but hopefully, with patience and training, she can improve her social skills with other animals. Here is some info about me:Breed: Dalmatian/Lab mixAge: 3 yrsGender: fe, spayedWeight: 28 kg/ 62 lbsHeight: 62 cm/ 25-1/2 in HISTORY: My rescuer saved me when I was only 5 months old. A crazy man chained me to a tree and was beating me, because I ate his chicken. I was sooo hungry. They had no idea how long I was in that horrible situation, but no one helped me. It was actually my rescuer's friend that first saw me, but she was afraid to approach the angry man to stop him. So she called my rescuer and they both went together and hid until the guy left. Then they went and unchained me to bring me to safety. I was so weak I couldn’t walk on my own. They had to carry me to their car. They took me to the vet and amazingly, I didn’t have any broken bones and no severe injuries from being hit. I was of course very weak from hunger and had no energy to walk. I received an IV injection and came home with my rescuer who cared for me til I was healthy again.  Time for my very own home now though. Don't you just love my freckled fur? I am super friendly. Also, quite active and playful. I've got dancing feet, hip hopping all over. Life is so joyful. I enjoy being around other dogs as well as people but I usually need a bit of time to get to know them first. However, where I live is an abandoned area, where many other dogs are living with me. My rescuer comes to feed us as often as possible, but it is not daily nor as much food or as good a nutrition as we need. We are safe there though. So, I await you being my next hero and saving me and bringing me to Canada for a truly good life. Couple more vids: https://youtu.be/pRTkwNKJEEU, https://youtu.be/ICU-O5fn2aE. Energy Level: moderate Get along with:Dogs, yes Cats, unknownKids, unknown Prey drive: unknown, not observed with cats, squirrels, rabbits, etc... My adopter needs to be willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. Fears: sometimes strange dogs or people can scare me but the longer I'm in a safe setting, the more trusting I become. Training: some with her current fosterLeash skills: progress has been madeHouse trained: yes Health notes:I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $750.00 CAD + applicable taxes.  Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems!Basic training should be taken seriously and should begin within a few days AFTER arrival. Check out courses in your local area and enrol right away. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. More information can be found on our website. *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordatella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.  ##1221828##

Story
Hi, my name is Soba (Nono.) I am a 4 year old female labrador/Border Collie cross (best guess from my appearance). I have been in Canada (Greater Vancouver) for 3 years but, due to life circumstances of my adopter, he is unable to keep me. I am a loving dog who really enjoys being with my humans. I can be a bit vocal when I meet dogs on walks but I know I can learn some different greeting skills! After all, I'm part border collie and they can learn marvelous things! Please, please, come and meet me. You'll see what a great dog I am. I have recently been having a few knee problems which may need some help from a vet but you can find out more about this from my rehoming adopter. Whatever is the issue, it's not slowing me down much.  I  once had a family in the Middle East who actually rescued me from the street when I was just a month old. But they had to give me to the shelter for protection because someone called the police and they wanted to take me away. You see dogs are illegal to own here and quite often dogs are ripped away from our families and killed. I was lucky to be loved enough to be put in a shelter and not just thrown on the street. Even though I am safe from the police, life in a shelter can be very rough for some dogs. I am one of those dogs. I am a very sweet and loving dog and some of the other dogs see me a weak and are starting to attack me. I am so very scared so I would really love to get into another home quickly. I am not used to shelter life and I am getting very depressed. I really am a great dog. I am very smart and kind. I try hard to be friends with the other dogs here and I really do want to be friends and thankfully some of them are nice with me. I am loving with my human caretakers and I would love to be in a home, any home really. I would love to go on long walks and have playtime in the dog park too. I do have an advantage over some of the other dogs here in Iran because I actually did live in a home so I have an idea of how that is. I should make an easy transition into my new life. So as you see I urgently need to get our of the shelter before I get hurt by the other dogs. I am looking so forward to my new life in Canada all curled up and cozy in your home.   I am spayed, vaccinated and micro-chipped    My adoption fee is $500.00    please see our adoption guidelines at www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca   nono/fariba   ##204543##
