We’re are working on an urgent placement for our senior neutered male Husky, Tony. We are located in West Hempstead, NY. Tony was surrendered to a local shelter in June by his original family due to housing restrictions and was adopted by us shortly after. We are first-time dog owners and believed that adopting a senior dog would be a gentle way to learn. Unfortunately, after five months, it has become clear that our home is not the right environment for Tony. Our primary concern is safety. Our younger son is autistic, and despite close supervision and working with a trainer, there have been a couple of snapping incidents when Tony’s need for space wasn’t recognized. As a result, our son has become fearful, and it has become clear that our home is not a safe or sustainable placement for Tony. Tony would do best with an experienced, husky-savvy adopter who understands him and his nature.

He is from the same litter as Choco, Aru, Cream (already adopted), Baekseol, and Heukgom—all siblings born together. ‍‍ People Socialization Baekseol is extremely affectionate and friendly. He happily approaches both familiar and unfamiliar people, enjoys being petted, and even leans in for cuddles. He is comfortable with men and is wonderful with children under 13. He allows belly rubs easily and can be gently picked up, even by people he has just met. Dog Socialization He is friendly with both familiar and unfamiliar dogs and loves to greet and play. Baekseol is not intimidated by large dogs and gets along well with them. While very high-energy dogs can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming, he still manages well thanks to his confident and bold personality. Cats Baekseol lived with a cat for one month and showed good compatibility. Energy Level As a puppy, Baekseol loves to play and run around energetically. When he gets tired, he settles down and falls asleep quickly. That said, like all puppies, he needs enough daily activity and playtime to rest well. ‍ Walks Baekseol gets very excited on walks—sometimes hopping around and moving in different directions. He tends to focus more on sniffing than walking straight, stopping often to explore scents. With time and consistency, this is expected to improve. Energy Level Like most puppies, Heukgom enjoys energetic playtime and then settles down quickly when tired. Seiko is an affectionate and humorous companion with intelligence. While his endearing qualities shine through, Seiko does exhibit food guarding, stubbornness traits common among huskies. Unfortunately, his behavioral issues, particularly a tendency to make family members feel uneasy when I'm not present, are a big concern. Although I made efforts to train him, it's possible that I became too accustomed to his behavior. I love seiko sooo much and this process of rehoming him is hard for me. Seiko needs a family/someone who's is equipped in training him and giving him the love and time he deserves. Seiko, an active dog, requires space and frequent walks.
