Story
Hi there, I’m Mina! My foster mom says I’m one of the most gorgeous pups she’s ever met. Enough about her though, let’s talk about me 😊 I was transplanted to Minnesota from Alabama where I had a rough start to life. Me and my siblings were found abandoned under a log in the woods as tiny little babies. When we were found, we were hungry and covered with mange – most of us didn’t have much hair! Thanks to rescue and the kind care of my Alabama foster momma, I now have all my wavy fur back, and it’s soft as a bunny. I’m timid as I learn my new environment. I will be most successful in a household that shows me patience as I get settled in and helps me build my confidence. You see, I’ve never been away from my siblings or lived in a house until I came here – they sure are right about Minnesota nice, though! Despite that, I haven’t had a single potty accident and sleep in my crate well at night or when my fosters aren’t at home. It’s one of my safe places where I can relax for some zzzz’s! I’m my foster mom’s little shadow and am a little unsure of my foster dad, though the resident dog I live with tells me he’s actually “the fun one.” He’s winning me over with hotdogs and cheese (yum-o). Once you have my trust, I’ll show you my playful, spunky side. I like other dogs with good manners and think fetching is fun because if I bring the toy back, you’ll throw it again! I just need some good chew bones, a few floppy stuffies that whap me in the face when I shake them, and taking things slow. In return, I’ll be your most loyal, bestest friend. Who wouldn’t want one of those?--------------------------------------------All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spay/neuter before adoption unless age is a factor with a puppy younger than 6-12 months at the time of adoption. If that is the case, the spay/neuter will be covered in the adoption fee and the owner will be responsible to have the procedures completed at a Warrior Dog Rescue Veterinarian at the appropriate time. Please note that the majority of our dogs in rescue are from shelters where they have been found as strays or abandoned. Their breed description is based on our very best educated guess based on physical characteristics and their dispositions. If they came to our rescue as an owner surrender, the breed description will be listed as provided by the previous owner.Adoption Fee - $575To apply for this pup, please submit an Adoption Application at http://warriordogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application/

Story
Hi! My name is Moana and I am an owner surrender. This special needs beautiful little girl has made wonderful strides in the 2 months that I've had her. She's getting stronger bit by bit. She is personality plus! She loves to snuggle, loves to play and just gets sooo very excited when you talk to her, get down on the floor to play with her and if the big resident dogs are even just near her. She has a feisty side, too, and does not like to be left out of anything!! She is making great progress in potty training and she'll usually vocally alert you-day or night- when she has to go...but know that she'll still have some accidents. At this point, she doesn't have the coordination to be upright to eat on her own so I still hold her securely in my lap to feed her several small meals a day and also to keep her hydrated (I soak her kibble and still give her some soft food. She will not drink straight water so we are still working on that and by soaking her kibble, it flavors the water and she'll drink it to get to the kibble.) She loves all people and dogs. She hasn't had contact with cats yet that I know of. She'll need flat, safe surfaces when she's in her wheels. She does best on carpets or rugs or grass when upright in her harness to practice balance, strength and walking. She'll need to continue strengthening her muscles and working on her balance. At this point, she cannot get up from the floor on her own. Once she's on her side, she can only move around by scratching/shuffling. She does great for car rides. She sleeps nicely in her soft sided kennel at night, only alerting me by whimpering once or twice per night that she has to go out to potty. She is one of the happiest pups that I've ever fostered and will give her forever family sooooo much love!! From the vet team: Hello! I arrived at Secondhand Hounds as part of the Fighter Fund program due to my Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH) diagnosis. CH is a condition resulting from inadequate development of the cerebellum which causes lack of balance/coordination, ambulating, head bobbing, tremors, etc. The SHH Vet Team has provided my foster with physical therapy exercises to help gain strength but I will always have this condition. I have a wheel chair and a harness to help with movement but it is also recommended that my future adopter lay down rubber mats to help with my movement. My future adopter should understand my condition and monitor my health with a primary veterinarian. Also, I have an upcoming surgery with an opthamologist due to ablation of eyelashes which will freeze and kill the hair follicles to help prevent regrowth of these abnormal hairs. This surgery and eye recheck appointment will be covered by SHH as long as it is performed at Animal Eye Speciality Center/Secondhand Hounds Vet Center.

Hi. I'm Mink. I am from Kentucky. From the foster: This adorable fur baby has a coat as soft as a cloud. Her floppy ears and expressive eyes make her even more irresistible. Luna's petite size might make you want to protect her forever, but don't let that fool you; she's got a heart full of courage and a spirit that's larger than life. You can play pin the tail on Mink, because she is missing hers. She is great with other dogs and kids, and my foster mom thinks I'll do great with cats as well.

Hi. I'm Weasel. I am from Kentucky. Weasel is a beautiful puppy, inside and out. Don't let the name fool you. She has typical puppy high energy playtime followed by sudden snuggles and naps. She is a big fan of fetching squeaky toys or just about anything that rolls, and had fun splashing in a lake. Weasel has been a big hit with the kids in the neighborhood, and she'll cuddle in anyone's arms. She has been respectful but inquisitive with our resident dogs, and cautious in new situations. She is always very excited when she sees or hears someone she knows. She generally likes to stay close to people, and has really only been vocal for the first couple minutes when she is put in a kennel. House training has a way to go yet, but she is better than average for a puppy her age. This is at 10 weeks and 10 pounds. She looks quite different than her mother, so we're having fun trying to guess what breed(s) the father is.

Story
Hi, I'm Noosa. I am from Kentucky. From the foster: Noosa is a sweet but spunky smart little dog who just needs a chance to build some confidence and let her real personality show. She takes time to warm up to people, but you can clearly see that this good girl wants to please her people once she gets past her fear. Noosa is extremely smart and is well on her way to being housebroken especially on a regular schedule. Noosa has done well with and is very respectful of the other dog in her foster home and has started following her lead on things like meals and going "out". Noosa just had surgery on 9/11 to fix some broken stitches from her spay procedure, and has been recovering well from that. Noosa is a bit of an "Houdini". She has escaped from both a surgical cone and pet harness multiple times each while inside the house. While she hasn't tried to escape from the house, her ability to get out of her harness and her fear keeping her from bonding at this point make me feel that extra vigilance is needed with her outside, be that double leashes and possibly a fenced in yard.

Meet the goodest boy around, Clyde!  This sweet young gentleman is bound to put a smile on your face. He’s one big goof ball that loves love. Clyde has excellent house manners - kennel trained, loves chewing on his toys, potty training is going great!  He is very respectful of other dogs and reads their  queues very well. He would love another playful dog and a fenced yard in his home or someone committed to giving him exercise daily. Once he’s worn out, we will sleep the day away! Growing big is exhausting work!  Does Clyde like food - why yes, yes he does! We haven’t found a treat that isn’t tasty to him. Training classes would be a blast with this guy! We also use toys for training because this guy loves his toys. The more toys the merrier!  Clyde would love to meet you so fill out an application!  If you would like to meet Clyde, please visit spotslaststop.org and fill out an application.
