Story
Hello! I am from Minnesota. From the foster: My given name is Dino, but my foster mom calls me Bunny! Why? I'm soft, have floppy ears and I hop! I'm listed as a Chihuahua mix, but after some review the conclusion is I'm more of a small terrier mix. There's probably a little Chi in the DNA somewhere! For my young age and rough start, I'm pretty smart. I'm about 75% potty trained. I whine or bark, usually at the door, when I need outside. I still have a couple accidents, so my adoptive parent(s) will have to be patient with me and follow through on my training. I'm learning sit when I get a treat and by my dish while waiting to be fed. I'm also learning bed, kennel, no, drop, run, toy, and bedtime. I will fetch toys when tossed, and bring them back. I'm still learning how to drop. I love to bite and chew. My foster mom keeps lots of soft squeaky toys, deer antlers, and teeny tennis balls for me to chew on and fetch. I would not do well with young children or rough activity, as sometimes I bite the hand that pets and plays with me. Not my fault! I'll be this way until my permanent teeth come in and I'm more comfortable. Patience and training reinforcement is needed with someone my age. I love to run in my big backyard with the resident dog, a Chiweenie. We chase each other, play with sticks and bark at squirrels. I need a home with a fenced yard and space to run and play. I love people, other dogs, my tiny filled Kong, peanut butter, soft warm blankets, looking at myself in a mirror, my cuddly sweaters, and lots of toys and chews. Are you retired? Work from home? Have a fenced yard? You may have just met your love match! I need someone home with me most of the day because I love my people and want to be with them. I'm very sad without them. I need my people to keep working with me on my training so I have a happy home.

Story
Hi! My name is Benny and I am from a shelter in Kentucky. From the foster: My name B-B-B Benny! I'm a sweet and quiet Chihuahua. My foster mom calls us low maintenance, whatever that means. I spend most of my days napping with my built-in companion Oscar. I prefer to be near him at all times or within view. We are two peas in a pod! I can be a bit skittish (in the quiet jumpy sort of way) when my shadow creeps up on me, but I quickly realize it is nothing. I can go up and down stairs and even managed to let myself out of the doggie door. I'm about 90% house trained; my foster mom lets me out periodically but have a few accidents from time to time. I do well through the night and don't have any tinkle issues while sleeping. During the day, it is a work in progress and my foster mom is actively working with me on it. It is only a matter of time before I have it figured out. I'm not really one for walks or being on a leash but my foster mom takes me for strolls around the neighborhood in a buggy. I do enjoy the wind in my hair and the fresh air when in the buggy, and also like exploring the backyard. When left alone I do best in a kennel with my BFF Oscar and enjoy each other's company while napping. I haven't been around children but often times Chihuahuas do best with no children or older pet savvy children.

Hi! My name is Oscar and I am from a shelter in Kentucky From the foster: My name is Oscar! I'm a sweet and quiet Chihuahua. My foster mom says the only thing better than one sweet quiet Chihuahua is two cuddly quiet Chihuahuas! I'm about 95% house trained; my foster mom lets me out periodically. I do well through the night but will use a potty pad if I need to. I'm not very good with stairs, I can do a few but beyond that I preferred to be carried. I weigh less than 8 lbs. My inability to do stairs is likely caused by my knee issues which could result in a surgical repair in the future. As of now I walk bowlegged but otherwise get around just fine. I even manage to follow chase squirrels around the backyard with my bestie Benny and resident dogs. I'm not really one for walks or being on a leash but my foster mom takes me for strolls around the neighborhood in a buggy. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hello, my name is Mocha and I'm an 11 lb Chiweenie with an approximate DOB of 7/19/2022 who was surrendered when my owner could no longer care for me. I have experience being around cats and small dogs, middle aged children, and environments where I'm the only animal. Whether I'm enjoying the smells of the outdoors, running around with kids, or playing and wrestling with my other friends, I can thrive and become your best companion...some may even call me your little shadow. A perfect day to me is being in your presence, curling up under a blanket, or cuddling with you in your lap and exchanging hugs and kisses.    Being that I'm still young, learning, and searching for my forever home, I could use your love and patience to help me continue to develop into one of the best dogs I can be. I love to be rewarded as I'm working to master my understanding of doing my business outside, but if any potential accidents are of concern to you, I'm fine wearing a belly band inside until I become a professional. With a consistent schedule, I've been continuing to improve. I am a nervous type on first impressions so if you have frequent guests or visitors, I promise to adapt if you can give me some time to establish my confidence and trust.     I should mention that I'm crate trained and have no issue spending time in there during the day, or sleeping the entire night...although, I'm not opposed to your bed either if there is room for me. I also don't mind if you can leave me with some cardboard, yes, cardboard, while in my crate or even playing around in general. I'm not sure who invented that stuff, but it sure is fun to shred apart and chew on. I also love fixing toys that apparently have a squeaking problem by getting that squeaker out for you so it stops making that noise.    Thank you for reading about me and checking out my pictures...maybe my next picture will be of the both of us! While I may only be in a fraction of your life, I'm hoping you'll be in all of mine.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, I’m Pixie, a sleek Chi X with an approximate DOB of 11/13/12. I lost my home when my elderly Mom could no longer care for me.    I weigh about 10 lbs so consider myself a perfect little lap dog and will try to prove it to the new mom or dad. I love nothing more than to be under a blanket snuggled up with you. I have the sweetest look of love that i give to my person. I tend to make friends with women easily, but men and other dogs take a little bit more time to warm up. But if given a little time, I’ll warm up as well. I’ve also met kids, and did very well with them. They were probably about seven years old and very respectful of me. However, despite my gray hair, I do have energy to play chase with my buddies, or to take a walk or run around the neighborhood. I have a little happy dance I do sometimes when it’s time to go take a walk. I’m house trained and also love to sleep in. Im not a huge barker, so I could live in an apartment or house. I’ve lived with cats and dogs, but would also be perfectly content about being the only pet in the home. People are my favorite. I’m an all around easy dog.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Story
Snapshot of Stacie: Size: I'll probably be closer to 15-20 pounds when I'm full grown. I'm around 13 pounds right now. Activity Level: I love to play hard and snuggle hard! Noise Level: I bark to let you know something is happening, when I'm excited, or when I want something. They are short periods or time but I would probably do best with no shared walls. Good with Dogs: I love all dogs! Good with Cats: I don't know what to think about cats. But I co-exist with them just fine. Good with Kids: I love little ones! Good with Strangers: Yep! Potty Trained: I'm a puppy, so I'm still working on it! Crate Trained: Yes Shedding: Minimal Hello, Stacie here! I'm an "older" puppy with a little body and TONS of personality. I was once described as shy before coming to my foster home. But now that I'm settled in you'd never know (and really, I was never that shy. Just a tad less outgoing than my sister Skipper!). I'm fantastic with dogs of all sizes and kids. I live with cats as well. They're weird and sometimes I bark at them. But overall we co-exist well. My favorite activities are playing keep away with my foster siblings (I'm the one who LOVES being chased), snuggling next to my foster mom when she sits on the recliner, and chewing on nylabones! I'm still a puppy so sometimes I forget what is for dogs and what is for humans. But I really prefer nylabones over anything. So if you help redirect me to one, it's an easy swap! I kennel well but will sometimes bark when I first go in or if I see a cat walk past me. I just really need to let it be known that its SO unfair that they get free roam 100% of the time and I don't. Potty training is going well! But with the new cold weather that I'm experiencing, I'm regressing a little. Luckily, I'm super duper smart so I'm sure I'll be 100% potty trained in no time! My perfect home would include humans who love to snuggle, play, and don't mind a little jumping or barking (I'm a young, excitable pup! Can you blame me?). I'm small so my jumping doesn't bother the four year old but babies who are learning to walk may have a different opinion. I would LOVE a dog playmate of any size but I would also do just fine being the center of attention. Stacie is fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations for their age. Adoption Fee: $600 + applicable tax Training Requirement: Obedience Level 1 Recommended MEET ME/ADOPT ME: If you'd like to arrange a meeting or begin the adoption process, please fill out an adoption application by visiting How to Adopt - Twin Cities Pet Rescue or clicking "adopt me! About Marshall: Size? Small Activity Level? Active when we take him outside, but he is also a very calm and cuddly dog. Noise Level? He barks at men and other people when walking down the street. Good with Dogs? Yes Good with Cats? Yes Good with Kids? Yes Good with Strangers? No Potty Trained? Working on it. Crate Trained? Yes Shedding? No Hi, my name is Marshall. I am a 2-year-old Male Chihuahua. I am a loyal companion who loves snuggles almost as much as I love food. I love going on walks, but I do not like sudden/loud movements, wet grass, or thunderstorms. It might take a bit for me to warm up to people or other animals in the house because I am a bit territorial so please give me time, especially when meeting men. I also have separation anxiety and may need someone to help me adjust, but once we pass that stage I am the most cuddly, loyal, loving dog you'll ever meet! I am only 2 years old so I get the zoomies quite often and I love to chase, but don't chase me because I'll get scared! I love to play tug-o-war with socks or anything I can hold onto that's not an actual toy. When we go on car rides, I am the best lap passenger. I get super excited when my owner comes home because it means treats and cuddles! Because I'm so young, I am still learning tricks and words. I'm still learning to sit, but I love showing off my dancing skills when I see treats. I am potty trained, but I don't know how to tell you when I need to go outside, I just need to be brought out 4-5 times a day. I would do best in a quiet house with few strangers coming in and out and will be patient with the time it takes for me to acclimate and how vocal I am. If your house is the life of the party on weekends, we might not be a great match. However, I'll be perfect for someone who wants to relax and cuddle, or go out for car rides and walks! Would you like to be my fur-ever family? Story
Hi! My name is Astro and I am from Missouri. From the foster: Astro is a very shy, sweet girl. She was a breeder release so the world is all new to her. She enjoys other dogs, but is scared of people. Even when scared, she has not exhibited any aggression. It is going to take time for this little girl to relax and know she is safe. She must feel safe about 2:00 in the morning as she wakes up, barks, runs around her room having a gay old time when no one can see her. She would not be a good choice for shared walls! We are working on trying to help her feel safe in the daytime so she can sleep at nighttime. She is quite good about using potty pads for her bathroom duties. When she goes outside, she wears a trailing leash in our fenced in backyard so we can catch her and she can get used to having a leash on her neck. She is a flight risk if taken out of the fenced in yard. She sits with us on the couch at night and seems to enjoy being petted and ears scratched. She is absolutely adorable. Astro will need a patient, gentle family to help her learn that she is safe and loved. She will do best with another dog to give her support and a fence to keep her safe. Little kids that are noisy would scare her. She is scheduled for her spay and to fix her hernia on January 8. She will be available to go to her new home at that time. Medical Bio:"Hi, I'm Astro and I just wanted to let my future adoptive family know about 1 medical finding during my journey at SHH. I had an umbilical hernia that needed surgical repair. It's just an incomplete closure of the umbilical ring after birth. Once I have the surgery to correct this it will no longer cause any issues or require any follow up. Can't wait to meet you!"

Hi! My name is Pluto and I am from Missouri. From the foster: Pluto is adorable, very cuddly, but can be barky. He loves, loves, loves to be with his people. He is not as happy if you are upstairs and he is downstairs and he will let you know. He was sick with a respiratory infection when he first came to us, lethargic and coughing. He is definitely feeling better now and running around with the dogs or playing with toys. Because he was sick at first, we didn't go outside and he has been using potty pads for his bathroom duties. Now that he is feeling better, we have started going outside which is so fun to watch him run and play. He sleeps quietly in a kennel in the bedroom with us. He can be barky and shared walls may not be his best environment. He has no aggression and loves people. He would benefit from positive motivational obedience training to help him develop self confidence and socialization to people, places and animals.

Story
Hi! My name is Skye and I am from Missouri. From the foster: Initially Skye was very shy and fearful, but now he is goofy and full of energy. Even though Skye is timid and prefers to stay just out of arms reach, he craves companionship and likes to be near us. Despite his age, Skye looks and acts like a spunky little puppy. He'd love a little furry friend to help keep him company, he tries to play with his foster siblings but they ignore him (they're also 10x his size). He sleeps in his crate at night. He doesn't bark much at night anymore, but during the day will bark when left alone. We are still working on establishing a potty routine, he's been doing well on picking it up. This guy might be a little older, but he is truly young at heart.
