Story
I need a temp foster from 6/6-6/14 and 6/26-7/6. Help with either or both! Email fostersupport@thebondbetween.org if you can help with one or both of these temp foster needs! Select the "Apply for Adoption" if you would like to adopt Hi! My name is Morty and I am from Minnesota. From his foster: As soon as I brought Morty home, he instantly attached himself to my pit bull Marty and follows him around everywhere. It took him a few days to get comfortable but he has since settled in well at my house. He gets along with both my dogs, does great in his crate, and really loves cheese. He could care less about sitting on your lap or snuggling up with you on the couch and seems to march to the beat of his own drum. He makes funny old dog sounds, which just adds to his personality. We've been working on potty training, as he doesn't know how to alert that he has to go outside and has had a few small accidents in the house, but goes every time he's outside (so I take him out often). When my dogs aren't around, he'll just curl up in a dog bed and sleeps hard. His little grey face is very good at melting hearts. He would probably do better in a home without small children, as it seems like he may have arthritis and you have to be considerate of how you pick him up. From the Vet: Morty has been in rescue for a few weeks and has a few things we are in the process of handling for him. He needed a dental cleaning/surgery for fairly severe tartar and disease. He will be recovering from that over the next few weeks. He was recently diagnosed with stage 2 chronic kidney disease. This will require a life-long prescription kidney diet and bi-annual monitoring of kidney function with a primary care vet. All in all he is a happy senior that just needs a special place to call home and get all the love and care a senior pet deserves!

Story
Hi! My name is Magnolia and I am from Arkansas. From her foster: Magnolia is a sweet little bundle of affection. In general, she's pretty quiet and calm. She gets a burst of energy here and there and will shake her stuffed animal or take off running down the hall. Otherwise, she's very happy to be sitting wherever you are, in your lap or alongside you. She's a great snuggle buddy at night, and likes to burrow under the covers. She thinks it's fun to use her ramp to get up on the couch and will hang out there if I'm working. She likes to go outside in her cozy coat and walk around to sniff and explore. She has been getting more experience being walked on a leash, but ideally a small little yard for her to romp around suits her needs. She is a bit cautious and shy, and needs a little reassurance when you reach down to pick her up. Most of all, Magnolia wants to be where you are, to snuggle and get scratches and all the love. She's adorable, easy to have around and is excellent company. She is working through separation anxiety and will bark when left unattended, so an ideal home would be one without shared walls with someone who predominantly works from home. Due to Magnolia's small size, she'd do best with older, considerate children who will take care to not trip over her, and to understand that she enjoys her peace & quiet, and is not too interested in playing. She coexisted well with her initial foster’s dog after a slow introduction, but is generally wary of unfamiliar dogs and people. Magnolia has separation anxiety and would do best in a home where her humans work from home / are retired / are around a large majority of the day. She loves her humans and does not like to be left alone. From the Vet: Magnolia has been in rescue while we have taken care of several of her most pressing medical issues. She needed 2 surgeries, 1 being full mouth extractions due to the severe dental disease. She has no problems eating and will live a much happier life without having to put up with her family taking care of her teeth regularly! She also had a knee surgery to repair an MPL (medial luxating patella) on the right side. She is recovering from this surgery well and expect that she can make a good recovery! As she ages, an adopter will want to monitor her eyes, arthritis and any new masses that present with a primary care veterinarian. She just needs a patient and quiet house to live out her life in comfort. If that sounds like you, we know Magnolia will be perfect for the right people!

Story
Hi! My name is Goldy, and I am from Minnesota! From his foster: Goldy is as good as they come! He's sweet, calm, cuddly, playful, dog friendly, people friendly and rarely barks. He's just as happy to go outside or for walks and meet other dogs as he is to cuddle up on the couch and watch TV. He lives for belly rubs! He sleeps in my office all day while I work from home and he sleeps in bed with me at night. He loves to go under the covers! He seems to be completely house trained! We haven't done any crate training yet, so I'm not sure about that, and he's pretty anxious in the car so we're doing some training there. He also seems to be reactive/aggressive towards men, so at this point I’d say he needs a female only household. I could see him being an only dog or live with multiple dogs as playmates. I haven't seen how he is around kids, but judging by what I've seen already, I think he'd be fine. He's a true gem! From the Vet: Goldy was seen recently with a TBB veterinary partner and has already had a dental and neuter procedure performed where he had all of his remaining teeth extracted. Dogs without any teeth do surprisingly well and eating kibble normally, but his future family could consider soaking kibble if that seems better for him. During that procedure the veterinarian noted an open oral nasal fistula that was unable to be repaired due to the chronic dental disease. ONF's may cause some upper respiratory symptoms so Goldy should be monitored for this routinely in the future. Goldy was also evaluated for an injury to his left knee that will need orthopedic surgery. TBB is working with our surgery partners to get this scheduled for May 15th. TBB would agree to cover the MPL surgery +/- 1 recheck and any medications associated with those appointments. Post op recovery and activity restriction is recommended for about 8-12 weeks post op, so his future home should be comfortable with these medical needs.

Story
Hi! My name is Penny and I am from Alabama. From her foster: Penny is a tiny dog in a big world. Because of this, she can be nervous about new things and new places. Once she's had time to settle in and warm up to you, she is a determined snuggler, who will require that you let her sleep on your bed and be touching you. She has done well with the two dogs in her foster home, and would likely benefit from another dog in the home, so she can follow their lead. Her ideal home would be quiet and laidback, where she can hang out with her people most of the time.

Story
Joey is a sweet, sensitive soul looking for a patient and loving forever home. At just over a year old, this adorable Chiweenie is house-trained (no accidents!), walks beautifully on a leash, and comes when called. He’s not aggressive at all and gets along well with other dogs—and likely cats too! Joey is very cautious around new people and needs time to feel comfortable, especially with men. He’s finally okay with a man in his current foster home, but it’s taken nearly a year of slow, gentle interaction. Because of this, a quiet, female-only home would likely be the best match, though a soft-spoken, calm male may be okay with plenty of patience. Loud environments or children would likely be too overwhelming for him. Once Joey feels safe, he becomes incredibly affectionate—he’s snuggly, loyal, and wants nothing more than to be near his person. He’s naturally curious and shows more of his personality each day. Having another calm, confident dog in the home could really help him continue to come out of his shell. Joey doesn’t have any behavioral issues—he’s just learning to trust the world at his own pace. If you can offer a peaceful home and a little extra understanding, Joey will reward you with devoted companionship and a heart full of love. If you're looking for a gentle, loving pup who just needs time and kindness, Joey might be the perfect fit. 💛 If you are interested in meeting Joey, please fill out an adoption application on the Carver Scott website today.
