Story
Baby Bat embodies the personality, uniqueness and likeness of the Batman. First, he works alone. No sidekicks or partners. He prefers solitude and his space. Baby Bat has lived with his foster and her dog pack for 5 years, he gets along with them but tolerates them at most. He would do well in a home where he is the only dog, no children, and adults only. Next, Baby Bat is an apex predator. Which means he needs his sleep and food and not to be interrupted or coddled when given either. Baby Bat is not a lap or cuddly dog. Finally, did we mention Baby Bat is a Chihuahua mix? That's a really important detail! Baby Bat is a great and loyal dog seeking a great family to adopt him! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
TEXAS ADOPTION ONLY Grandpa Lucky I have the weirdest name. What is that? "Grandpa Lucky. Sounds like I had a lot of luck in my short life, but I am not quite sure of all that. I just look like a Grandpa because I have lived outside most of the time and it is hard on a fella. I am only about 6 years old we think. First off, I was fished out of a river and taken to the city dog pound. I can't tell you how I got into the river, but foster mom suspects I had a little help with that. Well, it was lucky that I got fished out, but then I went to the city pound where I had 3 days before my time was up...literally. But then I got lucky again because foster mom saw me and just had to have me to foster so I got a ticket out of there. I was a pretty skinny dude when she got me, and it wasn't too long before she discovered that I love to eat. She noticed that I was having a little trouble walking on my back legs and that wasn't so good so when we got me checked out, it turns out that I have a little compression of my T4 to T6 vertebrae, whatever that is. Not good. But the vet lady said that nothing needed to be done for that so that was lucky. So, when I get a little tired, I hop like a bunny and the other times when I feel good, I walk like a regular dog. I had some tests done on my blood and I have worms living in my heart of all places. I am told that is not good. But it is lucky for me that foster mommy is giving me the medicines to kill those little varmints over time and not all at once. She said it is easier on me if we do it this way. Plus, it is lucky that I get the medicine in a little bit of tasty food that I love. Did I tell you I like to eat? About that, foster mommy tells me I can't gain too much weight, or it will be too hard on my joints and back and that won't be good. Aren't I lucky to have her to take care of me? The one complaint I have with foster mommy is that she doesn't have enough time to let me sleep in her lap during the day. I would like to have a lap in my new forever home and someone who will love me as much as foster mommy does. Because of the medicines that I am taking to kill the worms in my heart, we are looking for a forever home in the San Antonio area so I wouldn't have to travel so far. Besides having a lap to sleep in during the day, I want to sleep in the bed with you at night. I can't jump off the bed though but being with you all the time is what I want. Then I would really feel lucky! $200 Local adoption fee (in Texas)

This is Buddy, and he can't wait to be yours! Buddy is a sweet young Pug mix that started life off as a feral, until he was caught by a sweet and loving foster. Buddy got the good life after that! Spoiled with treats and given so much love he's developed into a great dog. Currently, Buddy is on bedrest after completing heartworm treatment so he needs lots of love and patience while he's resting and recovering. He's a very friendly boy and does great with pretty much everyone. He would do best in a household with an active family. Buddy does tend to bark at smaller animals so he would do best in a household that doesn't have farm animals or other small pets. Dogs and cats he is fine with, though he has not had much experience with cats. Buddy would do well paired with another calm and confident dog. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Story
I'm Zeus. I'm a gentle and resilient soul. Despite my visual impairment, I navigate the world with grace and curiosity. My other senses are keen, and I rely on them to explore my surroundings. I even learned to use a doggie door before my friends who have good eyesite! I will be someone's loyal companion. I love cuddling up and listening to the sounds of the world outside. My blindness doesn’t hold me back; instead, I think it adds to my charm. I like basking in the sun, treats and lap time. I'd like a quiet home, a cozy spot by the window where I can feel the sun and hear the birds and a a soft bed. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. No need to call to find out about me, you can ask questions on the application or email questions to info@polkcountyhumanesociety.org. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas twice a month. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veteinarian ($35). Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! ##2063692##

I'm around 2 years old and come in at about 7lbs. While I do attach myself and love my person will all these 7lbs I'm not the biggest fan of those unknown persons. I do really well with other pups and would do great in a home with a 4 legged 'sibling' or just as great getting all your attention as your one and only! But I would prefer a more quiet home without small children, maybe where my person works from home or is retired. I will make a great companion for leisurely strolls thru the neighborhood, a playmate for another 4 legged 'sibling' and the greatest confidante from heart to heart conversations to keeping all your secrets. From my adorableness to my sweet (for my person) nature, I'm ready to be all I can be....will I be YOURS?!! Fill out my adoption application found at haydudeequine.org

Story
Tito is a really good girl. She has been in the care of different family members most of her life. She is approx. 12yrs old. She has never been surgically fixed as she was told by a vet she couldn't get pregnant but she was not in my care at that time so I don't know the official reason. She does need some back teeth removed which do cause her issues periodically which should be addressed. She also has partial prolapse trachea which is very common for the breed and makes clearing her throat sound worse than it really is. She is happiest lounging around and burrowing herself into her thrown of blankets or under a blanket on your lap. I don't think she has ever seen herself in the mirror as if any animal or stranger comes in sight she will bark but she stops when you tell her to. Kids are fine but small children need to move slowly. Unfortunately I have severe health issues that will be ongoing and also need new housing but Tito deserves a new loving home and family

Story
Britta is a total sweetheart who just melts into you when you pick her up. She loves being close to her people and her siblings and will be an amazing little soulmate to her future family. She enjoys exploring the wild world outside when accompanied by her people, and she thinks toys are the most fun things ever, even if they're twice her size. Cats and bigger dogs are fascinating creatures to Britta and deserve closer inspection if she can ever catch up to them with her tiny little legs. Once she's worn herself out, she seeks out her people to curl right up with them for a well-deserved nap. Her forever family is going to be so lucky to add her to their lives. Britta is estimated to be 3 months old and 7 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested. If you are interested in meeting this dog please complete the adoption application on our website at http://www.safehandsrescue.org under Adopt and then we can contact you about setting up a meeting. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hi I'm Buzz!  I'm a happy little guy looking for my perfect family.  I enjoy playing outside and running in the grass enjoying the sun and wind in my face.  If you're my person I get happy wiggles and enjoy scratches and pets.  With new people I can be a bit quirky.  If I don't know you I ask that you give me a moment to know you're safe.  I'll admit I'm better with women than men.  If I'm pushed too quick I sometimes mouth you.  It's not a bite and I leave no mark whatsoever but your hand or finger is in my mouth for just a moment. I do ok with slow intros with calm dogs that ignore me but I would love to be an only dog so I don't have to share your love.  I'd likely be best in a home without kids.  I'm sure you're kids are great but I don't think they're for me.  I love walks and I know how to potty on leash or in a fenced yard if you have it.  I'm kennel trained and doing well on potty training.  I just need a patient family who will love me and give me a chance and you'll see what a great dog I really am.  Are you my perfect match? *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a  particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.       ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hello, my name is Elmo. I’m an incredibly precious young adult male Chiweenie with a lot of puppy-like energy! I am a smart boy who knows commands like “leave it” and “go potty” but I’m very timid and afraid of things like loud noises, commotion, children, and most people in general! Additionally, I do not like the crate and will yell if I’m in there; I will poo outside, but I wear a belly band inside; and I have limited leash experience because I can’t seem to stop myself from showing off my inner Houdini by wriggling out of my leash and harness. I am, however, always respectful of cats and good with other dogs so I will need a doggie companion when I go to my new home. All that said, once my humans have earned my trust, I am the sweetest, most affectionate little guy you will EVER meet! I am also very playful, and I LOVE to chew and run! That means that not only does my new family need to get the toy box ready with lots of chew toys, squeakers, and bones, but my new yard will need to be securely fenced so I can safely demonstrate my amazing ‘zoomie’ techniques! But most of all…my new family should get ready for cuddles because this guy LUUUVVVVS me some bed snuggles at night!!! I may be little, but my heart is bigger than the universe and it’s full of lovable sweetness that I dream of sharing with a patient, unconditionally loving fur-ever family who promises to NEVER give up on me. Please welcome me into your life and I promise that I will love you more than you could EVER possibly imagine!!
