**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Emma. I'm about 4 years old and I weigh about 48 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Wellsville area and I was picked up by the pound. I am an extremely sweet dog with people. I am super snuggly and I love kisses and cuddles. I am very clean in my kennel and I was definitely a house dog before making my way into the pound, though my previous owner(s) made no attempt to find me. I love being covered up when I am laying on my bed and if you're not paying me any attention, I will nudge my paw at you because I like it when you hold my paw in your hand. I don't do well with other dogs or cats and I need a home where I can be the only pet. That's only real "downside" to me, and the part that the girls here say will make it hard for me to find a home. I love going for walks and I would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Chester. I'm about 1 year old and I weigh about 52 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Homeworth area around mid-October and I was picked up by the pound. When I first came in, I was unsocialized and I was fearful of everyone and everything. Through some hard work on the part of the volunteers and employees here at the pound, I am making a huge turn around. I am learning slowly learning that humans are pretty cool, and that I don't need to fear everything new, because some of the new stuff is pretty cool too. I have learned how to walk on a leash since I've came into the pound. That was pretty scary for me at first, but I have made wonderful progress. I am an affectionate boy and I like to give hugs when I am scared, or just when I would like some attention. I can be a bit on the vocal side, especially when I am on walks or in my kennel not getting attention, but I am trying to learn how to be a good boy. I will need a patient family willing to work with me on housebreaking and training. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Reggie. I'm about 3 years old and I weigh about 75 lbs. My friend Mr. Big and I were dropped off here at the pound after hours, so nobody really knows our back story. We've both been super sweet, good boys since making our way in to the pound. I have been good around the other dogs I've met since coming into the pound. I have not been around cats yet, but a cat test can be done if you need to know if I am okay around cats or not. I seem to have been a house dog before making my way into the pound. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Carson. I'm about 1 year old and I weigh about 50 lbs. I was left here at the pound in a kennel overnight, so nobody knows my back story or where I came from. I was very thin and very stinky as if I had been locked in a crate in my own filth. I was very afraid of new people at first and it took me quite a little while to warm up, but once I get to know you, I am extremely sweet and very loving. I get along well with other dogs here at the pound, but the pound does always recommend a meet and greet with any other dogs that you have just to make sure we get along well. I will likely need a little work on potty training, but for the most part, I'm a very good boy. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. My name is Aurora. I'm about 1 1/2 years old and I weigh about 45 lbs. My mom, Betty, and I were picked up by the pound in mid-September after receiving a call that we were attaching livestock. The people that had us at their home could have shot us for what we were doing, but were compassionate and locked us up in a cage and had the pound come get us. It is not at all uncommon for bully breed dogs to have a high prey drive and go after livestock. We were microchipped and our owner was contacted. He was supposed to come pick us up, but never did. After many phone calls and trying to contact them, the pound has given up hope that our owner will ever come forward and we need to start looking for new families. We are both very sweet and loving dogs with people. We are smart and affectionate. We love going for walks and would make great hiking or jogging companions for someone active. We would do great in a structured home without other pets. Although we do great with one another, we are not fans of other dogs or cats. We can be adopted together or separately. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees.
