Story
Willow is a gorgeous almost 3 year old (DOB 6/20/23) female German Shepherd Dog looking for a person to whom she can bond and count on for all the things, for the rest of time. Willow is a very sweet girl, but one who`s life has had enough upheaval to take away some of her confidence. Lack of stability and big changes will unfortunately do that to a dog. Willow began life with the man who bred her litter. She was with him for approximately two years when he suddenly passed. His son brought her home, and while she was bonded to him and loved him, she never spared much of a thought for his wife. Willow is essentially a man`s girl. It is her where her security and sense of calm lies - her bond with her guy. Willow doesn`t dislike women, she just prefers men. She was adopted approximately a month and a half ago, and while she did fine with everyone, she once again only bonded truly with the man of the house. The women were of no consequence to her and she was basically indifferent to them. This simply wasn`t what the family was looking for - they wanted a family dog, and though they tried to change her mind, Willow adamantly gave the bulk of her love to Dad. They knew that she just wasn`t in the right home for her. When dad left, Willow wasn`t happy, didn`t engage, ignored the other members of the household. We get it - it wasn`t the right spot. We also know that every dog has a `right` spot, and we are determined to find Willow hers. Willow is well mannered in the house. She did well with the male GSD in the house (she will not be placed in a home with other female dogs, no exceptions), though she would often push him away if he took up too much of her person`s time. She was completely fine with cats and was great with the respectful young kids from the extended family that came to visit (as young as 3-4 years old). She can be a bit of a door dasher, and if she could get out that door, would have a merry time dancing around the neighborhood. For this reason, Willow will need a home with a securely fenced in yard. She walks well on a leash and settles nicely in the home. She knows basic commands and did not destroy items in the home at any time. She is somewhat fearful of the crate, but with some crate training and crate games, could probably become accustomed to one if needed. She will alert bark when people knock on the door, and is, quite properly for a GSD, aloof with strangers and people she doesn`t know well.Willow does

Story
INTAKE DATE: 3/13/24 TRANSFER FROM MAHONING COUNTY POUNDCURRENT WEIGHT: 62 LBSDon`t be deceived by the plain brown wrapper - Jimmy is just bursting with potential, energy and the joy of just being alive! Jimmy is a 2 1/2 year old male Pit Bull Terrier mix who currently weighs in at about 65 pounds. We would never say that Jimmy is chubby, but....maybe a little fluffy? He is an athletic boy who has the smarts and just needs and experienced dog owner to help him reach his potential. He is very toy and food driven, and would benefit greatly from a home where someone takes those drives and uses them to help Jimmy be all he can be. Obedience classes are going to be a must for this kid - he hasn`t ever had the chance to have someone seriously spend time with him and help him learn how to be the best boy. Jimmy has been at Angels for nearly 18 months - a little more than half of his life. He would do best in an adult only, single animal home.

Story
Kira hasn`t had the easiest time of it - she was adopted from AFA in 2021, only to be returned three years later when her family brought home another dog and the two did not get along. Here she sits, still waiting. Kira is a 8 year old female Pit Bull Terrier mix who is sweet as can be with all people, and has the energy and joy of an adolescent - just with better manners! From all we were told, this girl had NO bad habits at her first home - her only fault was a desire to be the one and only Queen of the Castle. Kira will need a canine and feline free home. Believe us when we tell you that her personality is big enough to make you forget about even having any other pets! She is ALL you need! She`s PERFECTION! Don`t be fooled by her age - this girl LOVES to play almost as much as she loves to settle in and cuddle when playtime is over. Equal parts good time girl and couch potato. She`s the whole package! Kira seems to do fine with kids (meet and greet would be required), men, women - all humans. She walks well on a leash (she might pull initially from excitement, but she settles right in), rides well in the car, and has great house manners. We do believe she is house trained as well as crate trained from her previous placements.

Story
Finn is an approximately 16 month old 45 pound male Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix who is looking for an active adventurous home! This boy is handsome, clever, and quite a canine athlete! Finn came to Angels as an owner turn in with his sister Posey. He has had a pretty transient life, and is ready for some stability and structure. While he is definitely in need of some basic training, this is a very smart boy who is ready and willing to learn. He is very treat motivated, meaning he will absolutely work for food. We are told that he has been crated in the past, and has a decent grasp of house training. This does not mean he won’t have accidents! This boy has been through a lot of changes, so he absolutely needs someone who will have patience with him. He hasn’t had a ton of leash training, but he is getting better and better, and we continue to work on it! We do not know how Finn is with kids, but he would probably do best with slightly older ones - 8 and over. This is simply because this bouncy boy can sometimes forget how high he bounced! He has lived with other dogs, male and female, and was reported to have done well with them. As always, a meet and greet with any resident canines would be required. He has not been around cats, but should do okay with some guidance and dog savvy cats. Finn’s possibilities are endless. He is brilliant, highly trainable, very athletic, and always ready for an adventure. Finn is DEFINITELY NOT a couch potato. He needs exercise and activity. He needs for someone to care enough to cater to his mind, body, and soul. He would do best with a fence, but we will consider homes with and without, factoring in the individual situations. This dog could absolutely participate in things like agility, flyball, obedience etc. Even just for fun instead of for titles. Frankly, he won’t know the difference - all he will know is that he’s having a fabulous time with his new very fabulous human!

Story
Goose is a happy approximately 16-month-old Labrador Retriever/Bully mix who is in search of an active home with someone who is willing to continue his training, get him plenty of exercise, and just to have fun and snuggle with!  Goose is house trained, has been good with kids in the home (kids over 10 are preferred due to his bouncy nature) and knows sit and shake hands.  He was adopted to a very loving home over Christmas, but while they loved him dearly, he and the cats of the house, did NOT love each other in the same way.  A feline free home is a must.  He seems to like other dogs (especially girls), though a meet and greet would be required.  He has been left from 4-8 hours loose in the home without any incidents at all, which is outstanding!  Loves his people, loves attention, loves life!  That`s Goose!
