ABOUT ME…
Hi! I’m Izzy, and I am part of the Kentucky Four that arrived at CO•PAW when our shelter was destroyed in storms. I had suffered from Kennel Depression and lost a lot of weight and was pretty reserved when I came here. My personality is out and I’m just so happy. I have heard my foster family describe me as an absolute sweetheart - I love every person I meet. I can’t wait to be friends! No matter where we go, I will make new friends - whether they’re human or furry. I MUST meet every dog I see. My tail goes so fast it may cause injuries if you’re in its path. I won’t bark at another dog unless they bark at me (they started it). I’m pretty quiet. I don’t even like barking at the door. But I do like toys! They’re great. I would love to play with you outside and inside. I would also love to be able to spend time around you - in the same room as you, curled up in a cozy dog bed, on the couch, in your bed, staring out the window… I am a good listener, and am told I am going to be an amazing companion for some lucky person or people. Please don’t forget I am still young and learning, but very eager to make you happy and proud.
I AM GREAT WITH…
kids (I light up when I see kids and love to play with them! I can still get a little too excited with smaller kids, but my foster mom is working with me on this.), other dogs (all sizes), and cats. I am great with men and women.
I AM STILL WORKING ON…
some manners. I’m an eager and quick learner, and definitely food motivated. Leash training - I would really benefit from a good harness and training treats here. Crate training (being able to stay in there without crying) - my foster parents let me sleep in their room and crate me when no one is home. I have been getting better and better with my crate each time!
I AM NOT GOOD WITH…
Being left unattended around food, I will eat it. I am a counter-surfer.
I REQUIRE…
A fenced in yard would be preferred, but I can also be in an unfenced yard on a lead. I am very athletic, and have twice hopped the 4’ fence (once assisted by 2’ garden beds, and once without assistance) because I was so excited to play with the kiddo and dog on the other side. I did try to come back over as soon as my foster parents called me, but I couldn’t figure out how 🤷🏼♀️ My foster parents have been working very diligently with me, and I’m doing really well. They said that with continued training, that I won’t continue my jumping.
