Story

My name is Cinder and I’m looking for my forever home. I’m 18 months old and a confident, curious, people-oriented girl with a big personality. I bond strongly with my humans and like to be involved in whatever they are doing. I’m affectionate and cuddly – I love snuggling on the couch and getting attention. I came to my foster home here in Columbus, OH, after surviving Parvo Virus. There were 11 of us who all got sick, but thanks to SIRA and a very kind vet who took us in after our breeder would not pay for treatment, we all survived! I had some fur loss, but it’s growing back nicely. Now I’m healthy, spayed and vaccinated, and weigh 19 lbs. I’m a good girl in the house – potty trained and I sleep through the night well. Foster dad says I’m super-smart. I’ve learned the routines and expectations here in my foster home really quickly like mealtimes, bedtime, and what we do when foster dad goes out. Predictable schedule and consistency really help me adapt. I’m not shy about expressing my opinions – and I have plenty of them. You will know if I find something objectionable. But I settle nicely if you reassure me. I love exploring my surroundings. I would be a great match for someone looking for an adventure buddy. Like a typical Shiba, I’m a natural door-bolter and escape artist, so my forever family should be super careful when opening doors and gates and take measures to prevent me getting loose and going on unsupervised adventures. I’m not fond of being left alone for long periods, so my perfect forever person would be someone who can spend time with me and who appreciates an attentive little shadow. I’d do well with an experienced dog person familiar with Shiba Inu personalities. There are other dogs here in my foster home, and I’m good with some of them. Because I’m a bold, spicy girl, I’d match best with laid-back, friendly dogs who don’t mind my confidence. Slow, gradual introductions will help, since I can be reactive through gates and barriers. Story

My name is Mister Clean and I’m looking for my forever home. Why am I named after a bald guy? Well, I came to SIRA after being found lying in mud on the side of the road, emaciated and bald from a severe flea infestation. I was in bad shape. X-rays showed metal and food wrappers in my tummy – I was so hungry I ate anything! My ears were infected and I was very anemic. But once I got food and vet care, things got much better! My fur started growing back and my ears healed. And I put on weight – I’m about 28 pounds now. I am being fostered just north of Columbus, OH. SIRA thinks I’m about 10 years old. I’m great with other dogs and I love cuddling with my foster family. Yep, you heard that right. I’m a “fake Shiba” since I love to snuggle. My foster family was told that I may have a disc problem in my back and maybe something going on with my hips, but so far, nothing slows me down. I dart, spin, and dance my way through the house! Every time I come in from a potty break, I get the most exquisite zoomies. I pirouette, fling myself up on the couch, and then dance around the whole house. I love going on walks with my foster family, getting treats and belly rubs, and perching on my favorite chair. I’ll happily speak up and tell you off if you’re too slow to take me outside or if you’re not sharing your treats with me. I am fully house trained and I do fine when my foster family has to leave the house. Now that I’ve beaten the odds, the only thing I need is a forever family. My perfect forever home will have a nice comfy spot with a sunbeam to nap in and someone who will let me sit in their lap and give me a rub-down. If there’s another nice dog, that would be great, but I’d probably do fine as an only dog as long as you spend time with me. I’d do best with a securely fenced yard, but also enjoy leash walks. I'm neutered and vaccinated and ready to go! I haven’t lived with children, cats or small pets, so I don’t know how I’d be with them. Meet handome Ares! He is a very sweet boy who is looking for his perfect family! He is four and a half years old and is a pretty petite boy! He is a very goofy boy who gets cold very easily so he loves to wear sweaters! He is a very laidback pup who loves to nap on the couch all morning! He loves to watch the TV with you but hates any dogs on screen or anything that could possibly be a dog. Ares isn’t much into chew toys but loves a good treat! Bully sticks are his favorite! Ares is currently working through relearning his basic recall commands and building his confidence. He will need a patience and positive reinforcement to help in this process. He is crate trained but not comfortable to stay in for long periods of time, but is perfectly fine loose in the house alone and does well. He would have to meet a kitty before living with one. He was very curious with the one he met, so that would depend on the cat. Ares is barrier reactive so anyone walking by an outdoor fence or through a gate that he can see will trigger him. He will need some positive reinformcent and redirection with this behavior. Ares has grown up in a dog daycare and is perfectly fine in a group setting. One on one encounters will need to be taken slowly as he can get protective of his humans. He is not comfortable around cats or children and will need work in those areas to be able to settle down around them. He would do best in a house with older children. He loves to go for walks and would be the best adventure buddy! He will need continued confidence building and redirection at times with his leash manners. The perfect forever home would be a home that his new family would continue and follow through with his training needs . He deserves the best new family, and his handsome face will melt your heart! He would do amazing in a home with another confident dog to show him around and make him more comfortable! Zoey is a 23 month old Maltese/Shih mix. She is high energy. She weighs 10 pounds. She has pretty dark brown eyes, and a mostly white coat with a bit of tan. She likely would benefit from obedience training. She can play rough but I believe she could be trained by someone who has more time to do so than I have. She definitely is a companion dog. She loves to be wherever I am. She is very good on a leash and loves to go for walks. I am willing to give the new parents toys, dishes, food, harness, leashes, and car seat. She loves to retrieve but has not mastered dropping the item.

He is a sweet dog; he loves attention and belly rubs. He was born May 1, 2021. He is fully house broken (He does not bark he just stands by the door and waits) and has been to obedience school. He knows all common commands. He comes with hes bundle of toys and collars one for walking and one for training. Hes been on Mills dog food which I can vouch has been a game changer when it comes to his skin /coat. But he does have upcoming vaccinations that will be needed around his birthday. He thinks hes a little dog so he doesnt know his own strength when he tries to get in your lap lol. Bad habits, he will get into stuff when you are not looking (no food/snacks laying in reach, paper (especially tissue). Thank goodness he is not a chewer meaning your shoes and furniture are safe but he does love socks (he just wets them up really good with his slobber). I also have a very good cage (I refer to it as go to your room when talking to Achillies) that I will sell separately

Arlo is the most amazing dog! He is good with kids, cats and dogs. He loves everyone and everything. I adopted him from out of state and have not had him long. My resident cat has shut down since he arrived and is not doing well. In wanting to honor her being here first, I think it best to find an another loving home for Arlo. He really is so great! Quiet, loving and cuddly. He is mildly active and loves to chew on bones and toys. He is house trained, knows to sit and lay down. He is a tripaw and lost his leg after being hit by a car last year. This doesnt affect him at all and he is completely mobile and active! He is very smart and deserves the best family. Arlo will come with a bag of food, probiotics and his crate (even tho he doesn’t need to be crated) and bone.
