Story
Erin is a very friendly girl. She greets new people with a swish of her fluffy tail and likes to give kisses. She has a playful personality and likes to jump up for attention and hugs. She can be silly, cuddly and has a sweet temperament. Erin gets along well with other dogs and loves her best little friend Al. Al and Erin have been through a lot together and seem to be bonded, so we are seeking a family that would be willing to adopted both of these sweethearts. Double the fun, double the love!!! This little girl found herself in a very bad predicament. She was found as a stray on the streets of Texas and ended up heading for the euth room, not to any fault of her own. The shelters there are so overwhelmed with large numbers of intakes coming daily and this was almost the end for poor sweet Erin. We had saved her kennel mate and we knew we couldn't leave her to die. She is with us in Ohio now and is looking for a wonderful, forever family. Could it be you? Please submit an application on our website, canaananimalsanctuary.org, to meet this sweetheart!

Story
Butch was so frightened when arriving to us, but who wouldnt have been. Picked up as a stray with his buddy, Billy. Taken to the shelter where he was minutes from losing his life. Then transported across the country with lots of other barking and frightened pups. It’s been a whirlwind of stressful events. But even so, Butch began to relax slightly after a few days and after a week he allowed us to touch him. It just takes a little time and patience. Billy warms up a lot faster, but with time these two will be a delightful addition to any family. We are looking for someone with the time and patience to bring the best out in this sweet boy who Wants so badly to trust and believe there is good that exists in this scary world. At not quite three weeks we are now receiving kisses from Butch. Both boys are vaccinated, neutered, flea and tick treated and microchipped. Please submit an application to meet these sweet little guys. Canaananimalsanctuary.org

Story
Meet Dixie ❤️Dixie is a classic red heeler girl with a sweet heart and a gentle, loyal nature. At 5 years old and just 35 lbs, Dixie is a nice compact size — sturdy, smart, and full of that wonderful heeler devotion. She was surrendered through no fault of her own when her prior owner had to downsize, and while the sudden change was understandably confusing, Dixie is already showing everyone what a lovely dog she is.Our kennel manager says Dixie is really sweet — just a little shy at first. She has been good with people at the kennel and is also doing well with the other dogs there. Before heading out for her annual vet updates, one of our volunteers spent time with her in the play yard, and after a bit, Dixie began to relax, enjoy the beautiful weather, and warm up. Once she feels comfortable, her softer, happier side starts to shine.According to her previous owner, Dixie has a lot of wonderful home-dog qualities. She is crate trained, house trained, leash trained, good in the car, and described as a cuddler with medium energy. She has done well with company, cats, and some dogs, and has lived successfully with children — though, like many herding breeds, she would likely do best with older, dog-savvy kids rather than toddlers.Dixie bonds closely with her people and will do best with someone who appreciates the loyal, intelligent nature of a heeler. She doesn’t need perfection — just patience, kindness, and a family willing to let her settle in and feel secure. If you’re looking for a sweet, smart, loyal companion in a perfectly sized 35 lb package, Dixie may be the girl for you.Apply to adopt Dixie at www.caninecollective.org

Story
***FOSTER OR ADOPT***Shep is a stunning shepherd mix who at 9 years old, has the heart of a playful pup.  He is a goof who loves toys, treats and belly rubs and is full of life, affection, and tail wags. Shep is currently struggling with the stress of kennel life and really needs a calm, loving home where he can decompress.  He would flourish in the quiet and attention available in a home. For that reason, he is available to foster as well as adopt.Shep weighs 68 lbs but not to worry.  This more mature gent has good manners, doesn't jump, and takes treats gently.   He is really sweet, listens well and pretty low energy for the most part.  Check out the video in his profile where you can see more of his personality.  Our volunteers took him out for a nice walk and got a glimpse of the amazing dog he truly is.  He also went on a day out of the kennel at a fabulous sniffspot and boy, did he have a great time!  He loves to swim and he pretty much ignored the dogs around him.  He is a different dog away from the kennel.  Check out this fabulous video of his day out!!  Won't you give this mature guy a chance?Shep can be picky about his doggy friends so if you have a dog in the home, bring them to meet n greet to see if there are get 8 paws up.   He gets barky around the kennel but when he is out and about he is well behaved around other dogs. Foster or adopt this sweet boy and help him become the happy, relaxed companion he’s meant to be.  If you think a handsome boy that is past that frenetic stage could be for you , apply at www.caninecollective.org.

Story
Meet Kimber - if you are looking for a low maintenance dog that loves to watch TV, cuddle, play with toys, and curl up in blankets, and share naps, this is your girl.  She’s so loving!  Kimber is a very sweet female cuddle bug that is a 6 year old bull terrier mix and weighs 51 pounds. She went through the obedience training program at the prison and has learned so much! She loves all people including older kids, is house trained and goes in her crate when her foster is away. She does want to be the only pet in her home and would do best with a fenced-in yard. She will go on walks but doesn't necessarily need them. She loves sleeping in bed or watching TV.  Kimber is a smart girl that loves her human attention and has done great at all events we have taken her to.  She has been great with every single person she's met and her fav person is the mailman since he always brings treats.Kimbers ideal home would be calm and quiet with her people nearby. She would do fine with respectful older children or an adult only house.  Kimber is truly a WONDERFUL dog.  She would be great for someone who wants an easy dog that will keep them company. If you're interested in meeting this loving girl, apply at www.caninecollective.org. She deserves a forever home!  Note: Without a DNA test or direct information about the parents, the breed listed is based on our best guess or from the use of a breed identification app
