Harlee is a superstar fawn mastiff girl who is super sweet. She weighs in at roughly 135 lbs of laid back, but perky, personality plus! Harlee is a social butterfly who greets men and women with tail wags and pleas for pets.  Likes:  Harlee is a morning girl who will greet you with butt wiggles that will make you laugh.  She loves to snuggle on the couch and watch TV with you but is also up for a walk in the neighborhood to investigate her surroundings. Dislikes: Other than small dogs, Harlee doesn’t seem to dislike much of anything, so far. She is definitely not a fan of small dogs but otherwise doesn’t seem to be phased by much.    Personality:   Harlee is polite – she waits patiently in her crate while dinner is being prepped and walks well on leash.  She’s also a talker – she’ll have a whole conversation with you if you’re having fun.  Did we mention she snores?  Like, REALLY snores? Temperament:  She is SUPER sweet and pretty laid back. She’s curious and engages with her people. Energy level:  Moderate energy - Harlee likes to walk but she also loves to sit under the desk while you work or laze about in the sun on nice days.  Favorite activities:  Chilling in the sun, exploring her surroundings, snoring, walking, getting pets, and more to be found… Good with cats, dogs, and kids (over 6)?:   Harlee prefers the company of large or x-large dogs who share their toys.  She appreciates dogs that are calmer in nature - pups who are exuberant or overly excited seem to irritate her or put her on edge.  No cats or small dogs for this girl.  She also prefers to be in a home without small children.  Teenagers would be fine. Not good with:  Small children, cats, and small dogs. Housetrained:  Yes!  That makes life easier, right? Crate trained:  Yes!  She’s also crate trained!  But she doesn’t necessarily need it.  She does great when her people are away – either in or out of the crate. Requires a fenced yard (physical fence and/or invisible fence)?  We’ve been told that Harlee likes to wander, so a fence is preferred unless she won’t be off leash Walks well on a leash?  Harlee walks SO nicely on a leash.  If you’re looking for a walking buddy, she’s your girl. Challenges:  Harlee wants what Harlee wants and she’s sure that she should have it. Just be patient with her and be firm, and she’ll eventually move on to her next interesting adventure.  She’s a bit possessive of her person, so she needs some work on not hogging the path to that person. Any Medical issues?  Harlee has arthritis and is being treated for a low thyroid and cushings disease.  *Her foster is happy to answer any questions you may have about her care.* Harlee also made a New Year's resolution to shed a few pounds, so she’s on a low-calorie, high quality kibble diet.  :)   What would be the best kind of home?  Harlee Quinn lives up to her namesake....she's a fun, flirty girl who is a delight to foster!! She's in foster care due to a military relocation, through no fault of her own. She has adjusted amazingly well to many changes in her life and truly deserves a stable family to call her own again.  She would love a home with or without another dog sibling (although she prefers calmer dogs) and without small children.  She will make her new family incredibly happy with her sweet, loving demeanor.  Any adopter would be lucky to have her! Application Fees, Adoption Donations and Rescue Policy: Please know that 100% of our fees and donations pay for the costs of rescuing dogs. These include, but are not limited to: pull fees from shelters, veterinary examinations, vaccinations, medications and care, microchips, neuter/spay surgeries, heartworm treatments, behavior evaluations, and foster care, as needed. Our rescue policy requires the following: Adopters must have their primary residence in one of the following states: Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and parts of North Carolina. We will not adopt a giant breed dog to homes where the dog will have access to highly varnished hardwood steps inside the home. Any inside steps to which the dog(s) have access, must have carpeting, securely fixed stair treads, or a non-skid surface. We encourage you to remediate potential safety issues while your application is under review, prior to the home visit. Methods or devices using pain or force on the dog to control the dog, or to deter undesirable behavior is prohibited. Applications for giant breed dogs must be submitted by the property owner. Homes with children under 6 years of age will not be approved for adoption. Homes with children should have a fenced yard. Pets currently in the applicant's home must have a history of appropriate veterinary care. Veterinary records will be checked. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Fill out an Adoption Application   LILY IS LOCATED IN KING OF PRUSSIA, PA. Lily is an approximately 100lb Presa Canario female. She is still a pup at an estimated 9 months old. She has a very soft, silky brindle coat, and intact ears, which is a rarity for a Presa. This lovely girl was found wandering the streets in North Jersey, so we don’t know much about her backstory.   Likes: She like being with her human, going for car rides, walks, TREATS, having a ball thrown for her, belly rubs, bear hugs, and FOOD.   Dislikes: Being alone and having her rear end petted (she will let you know by gently taking your hand in her mouth).   Personality: She is energetic, playful, engaging, and athletic. She loves to be with her human. She is ready to go anywhere and do anything with you - she just wants to be involved. She is very smart and food motivated, which makes training with her easy and fun. Once she has her energy out from going on a walk, she is calm in the house.    Temperament: Lily wants to be a leader. She has a strong, confident attitude with familiar people and animals. She will test boundaries with people and other dogs. Her owner must be consistent and confident. She is very food motivated. She is not independent; rather she wants to be with her pack. She will not try to escape the yard. Other than stranger reactivity, she has shown no aggressive behavior. No food or resource guarding aggression. Just a little jealousy over human attention. She takes treats nicely from your hand.   Energy level: Lily is a medium energy dog. She requires at minimum 30 minute brisk paced morning walk and a 30 minute evening walk. She does about 1.25 miles per walk, or 2.5 miles per day. She also likes some zoomies and fetch in the backyard. She may not need this much exercise when she is older.   Favorite activities: Going for walks and sniffaries, bobbing for ice cubes in her water bowl, playing with a tennis ball, any training involving food rewards, and jumping up for things like toys or sticks.   Good with cats, dogs, and kids (over 6)?:  Lily has a prey drive, and even though it is low, she would chase a cat or other small animals. However, she has learned to peacefully cohabitate with a chicken, so it is possible. She likes other dogs and would love an energetic big dog to play with. She has not been tested with kids.   Not good with: She is very wary and skittish around strangers, especially men who are by themselves. She isn’t great with timid dogs. She wants to play rough and will bark if a dog won’t engage with her. She will try to mount and dominance hump dogs she meets.   Housetrained: Lily is very well housetrained. The only times she has peed in the house is when she has been scared (vacuum cleaning, getting adjusted, etc.).   Crate trained: Lily is not a big fan of the crate. Based on wear on her teeth, it is suspected  that she was excessively crated at some point. Even with a filled Kong toy in there she gets anxious, drools, and licks the crate bars. When her foster leaves the house she is confined to the first floor with dog gates. She needs tall dog gates as she easily jumps the standard height gates.   Requires a fenced yard (physical fence and/or invisible fence)? Yes, Lily needs a place for zoomies and playing with other dogs.   Walks well on a leash? In the three weeks she's been in foster care, she has made amazing progress at loose leash walking. When she’s energetic or excited she will pull, but mostly she is easy to walk.   Challenges: She is stranger reactive, particularly when on walks and especially with men. She is afraid of strangers and barks at them. She is not aggressive but she barks aggressively to scare people away.  This can easily be trained out with desensitization exercises. Once she learns that strangers + being calm = yummy treats, her attitude will change. Her owner will have to work with her to discourage guarding behaviors both at home and on walks.   When she gets excited she will try to mount and dominance hump her foster or another dog. The behavior has lessened as it's been discouraged as she has integrated into her foster home over time. She can also be jealous of attention when another dog is receiving it, and will try to hump or block the other dog.   She doesn’t like being left alone for long periods. When her foster leaves the house, she howls and whines a bit at the door. She is happiest in the presence of her human.   She is an opportunist when it comes to food, so don’t turn your back on your plate or that loaf of bread on the counter. This behavior has lessened over the time she’s been in foster care, but it's a work in progress.   She is still young, so occasionally she can be mouthy when playing. Disengaging typically stops the behaivor. She is then easily redirected to bite a toy instead.   Any Medical issues?  None. She is spayed and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. What would be the best kind of home? The best home would be one where Lily is not left alone for long periods. Her prospective owner should work from home or be able to take her with them to work. Her owner must be able to take her on long walks twice a day and be consistent with her. Lily would love to have a similar sized dog friend to roughhouse with, and a sizeable fenced yard for them to do that in. She would likely do best paired with a slightly older male who can correct her when she’s being rude. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Fill out an Adoption Application HENRY IS LOCATED IN KING OF PRUSSIA, PA. Introducing: Henry! He is an approximately 2 year old American Bully boy weighing 65 pounds. Henry was rescued by police from a serious neglect situation in Ohio. In spite of that, he is a HUGE sweetheart who loves every person he meets. Likes: Hanging out with you while you work, car rides, cuddling, doggie food and treats, being petted, and meeting new people. Dislikes: Being left out of social activities, and hot weather.  He's looking forward to the fall season. Personality: Henry has a relaxed, go with the flow personality. Temperament: Chill, he just wants a comfy place to hang out. Energy level: Low. He does not require very much in terms of exercise. Favorite activities: Laying down with a human companion, eating from treat toys such as lick mats and Kongs, and sleeping. Good with cats, dogs, and kids (over 6)?:  Henry has a very low prey drive, so while he has not been tested with cats they would likely not be an issue for him. He has good dog social skills and has been polite with introductions, even when the other dog is not polite! He does not seem very interested in playing with other dogs. He loves everyone so he should be great with kids. Not good with: Hot weather due to his short muzzle. Housetrained: Yes, although he has not been left out of the crate unsupervised for any long period. He does not soil his crate. Crate trained: Yes. He will cry if you’re around and he can hear you though. He does not like being left out of social situations. He does great overnight in the crate and sleeps well with a dog bed in there. Requires a fenced yard (physical fence and/or invisible fence)?  No. Walks well on a leash? Yes, he is low key and stays near you. Challenges: Keeping his wrinkly ears and paws clean. No behavior challenges to note. Any Medical issues? Henry came to MTM with severe skin yeast and bacterial infections due to the neglect situation.  He is recovering with medication and proper hygiene. He has some spots missing fur, but it is growing back. His paw pads are unusually deep and therefore hard to keep clean. While walking outside his paws get debris stuck in them. His toe jam needs to be cleaned out regularly or they grow yeast. His ears are currently being treated for yeast as well; it is unclear if this will be an ongoing issue or if it is due to previous neglect. What would be the best kind of home? Henry would fit in well almost anywhere. He is not an active guy, so he will not make a good hiking buddy. He is not interested in dog toys and only plays in short bursts. Any home with humans who want to cuddle his mush face is a good fit : )   Application Fees, Adoption Donations and Rescue Policy: Please know that 100% of our fees and donations pay for the costs of rescuing dogs. She is super friendly with everyone  and stands still for head pets.  She is very good with both kids and adults. She is learning to walk on a leash and enjoys meeting people and dogs on her walks. She is a big, silly puppy who is pure entertainment to be with! It's wonderful to see how curious she is about everything around her. A bit timid at first, but willing to try again and again. She is really good at letting you know when people visit - everyone gets a loud bark before they get a butt wag. :) Like: Rayla loves to lie down next to you; she is still learning that people cuddle . She is not particular about toys but really into shoes. She  is happy to just lie around inside the house or outside in the yard. She  does get the zoomies and enjoys running around with her foster brother. Dislikes:  She hates car rides. Rayla, still being a puppy, can be carried into the car. She is working on realizing that every time she goes on a car ride she gets a treat. Personality: Rayla  is super friendly and low maintenance. She enjoys the company of people and pets. She is very curious and observant, you can actually see her thinking  (she likes to watch the cats, the birds and the other dogs, the lawn mower, the tv, etc.). She loves to walk and explore the world with her family. She does not run away and stays close to her family.  She is very smart and is a quick learner. She is also a very good listener and responds to “no” very well. She is super easy to love. Temperament: She is a bit shy. Definitely not an alpha. She is very submissive. Very very  friendly dog. Loves cats and dogs. Energy level: She is a puppy. She loves to run and play. Her energy level might decrease as she grows older. Favorite activities: She loves to run around and play with her foster brother. She does like to chew on shoes. She likes her walks. She likes her training sessions (she gets hot dogs) and she likes watching animal shows. Good with cats, dogs, and kids (over 6) ?: She  is very good with kids. She is very good with cats and dogs of all sizes. Not good with:  Nothing yet... House-trained: Yes Crate trained: Yes Requires a fenced yard (physical fence and or invisible fence)?: A fenced yard would be nice for Rayla but not necessary. She likes to lie outside for long periods of time and likes to smell the garden and everything in it. Walks well on a leash?: Yes. If she sees a dog on her walk she will try to walk up to say hi - she is learning that not everyone likes to say hi. She is a very good listener and a simple “ leave it, not today” works. Challenges: Rayla had to learn that not all people hurt (she still cowers when you try to pet her). Any medical issues?: None that we know of. What would be the best kind of home?: Rayla is a puppy and would fit well into any home. She would thrive in a home that has another dog.   Application Fees, Adoption Donations and Rescue Policy: Please know that 100% of our fees and donations pay for the costs of rescuing dogs. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Fill out an Adoption Application SAILOR IS LOCATED IN JOHNSTOWN, OH. Sailor is a strikingly handsome brindle Mastiff (mix) looking for a place to call home.   Likes: Food, pets/love, drinking water from a hose, chewing on nyla-bones and playing with other dogs. Dislikes: Have not found any yet... Personality: Sailor is fun loving, playful, and enjoys being around people and dogs. Temperament: He is very easy going - no aggression observed whatsoever. Energy level: Medium - he's young! Good with cats, dogs, and kids (over 6)?:  Sailor is good with other dogs; seems cat interested but have not determined his level of tolerance with cats quite yet. Not good with: (Cats? Dogs? Strangers? Men? Kids?) Sailor should not be placed with small kids due to size/jumping. Cats are questionable. Housetrained: He's working on it! He does well during the day and is surely going to have this potty training thing down soon. Crate trained: Yes Requires a fenced yard (physical fence and/or invisible fence)?  Yes Walks well on a leash?  He likes to be in the fenced yard at his foster home and hasn't had much opportunity to be on a leash, so this is unknown.  He likely needs leash training. Challenges:  Since he was found severely emaciated, Sailor is food motivated. He takes food kindly given the circumstances, but he will need to be fed separately from other dogs to avoid any potential conflict. Any Medical issues? Yes - Sailor has mandibular osteopathy which may go away with time. He has large lumps of inflammation on both sides of his jaw. This does not seem to be painful to him. His foster can discuss this with potential adopters to provide additional information. What would be the best kind of home? Sailor would love another dog sibling to play with and a fenced yard is required. He would definitely benefit from someone in the household working from home to solidify his potty training. No small children as he likes to jump. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Fill out an Adoption Application Simon is a handsome and smiley 2 year young pup who was on his way to a new home (all the way from Texas!) when he was abandoned at a kennel. Luckily, the nice woman at the shelter took pity on him and let him take up residence at the kennel hoping for a happy ending.  Simon has been there since May and MTM is now helping to find him the perfect home! Simon is very friendly and likes other dogs and people.  He has a great temperament and a high energy level.  Being at the kennel, he's had the opportunity to enjoy doggie daycare and LOVES his social time playing with other dogs.  He's good with cats, dogs, and kids over 6 years old. (Small children not recommended due to Simon's high energy and ability to accidentally knock them over.)  He sounds great, right?  It gets better!  He's housetrained and crate trained! A yard with a physical fence is recommended due to Simon's energy level - it will allow him to explore and run around with some freedom.  While he might enjoy walks, he needs some training on a leash. He could use some general training too - his puppyhood wasn't typical, so he never learned the basic manners.  But he's willing to learn! Simon is an easygoing, lovable, fun and playful kind of guy seeking a home where he can make people happy with his smile and his friendly personality and bouncy energy.  He'd also like lots of pets and attention and possibly a K9 buddy to play with. :) Application Fees, Adoption Donations and Rescue Policy: Please know that 100% of our fees and donations pay for the costs of rescuing dogs.
