Story
Say Hi to George!  This poor pup has spent his whole life in a shelter. At 1 year old he has never had a home of his own.    George was found as a puppy running the streets with his mom. She has since been adopted and it’s now George’s turn for happily ever after !!    He is quite literally a super mutt !! We did his DNA and it came back as ….  Boxer…27.1% Border Collie…15.9% Norwegian Elkhound…14.2% Catahoula Leopard Dog…14.1% Golden Retriever…13.5% Supermutt…15.2% (mix of GSD, Lab, and Mountain Cur)    Who would have guessed?!    He went through our prison training program and did great! But he will need a very patient owner to help him continue to grow and figure out life isn’t so scary. George is looking for a home with a fenced yard, no young children and some furry siblings. He loves having other dogs around !    George is potty trained, crate trained and does well on a leash. He is also neutered, fully vaccinated, HW negative and on prevention.    If you are ready to welcome George with open arms, please apply to adopt at www.prodogsohio.org/adoptables  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We appreciate your support, in order to help us continue to rescue dogs! Donations can be made via our PayPal account - info@prodogsohio.org. You must be willing to commute to the location that the pet is being fostered in order to be eligible to adopt. We do not ship our pets. We also require that you personally bring the pet back to us should the adoption not work out.   We do NOT negotiate adoption fees. All money goes to support our rescue operation. We are 100% volunteered based. We require your current dog(s) to be current on vaccines and heartworm prevention.  Apply online at www.prodogsohio.org, under the Adoptables tab. Due to the volume of apps and inquiries, we may not be able to respond to everyone.October 3, 2025, 10:13 am

Story
Meet Peter! Breed: Greyhound mix Age: 1.5 years Weight: 50 lbs Size: Medium-Large (but his heart? XXL) Gender: Male Energy Level: Medium Bonded Pair: Must be adopted with his sister and best friend, Meg Peter is a gentle, affectionate, and goofy boy who has been through a lot and still radiates sweetness. Peter and Meg were part of an unplanned litter in rural Ohio. While their littermates found homes early on, Peter and Meg were left behind. They ended up in a shelter as young pups and stayed there until January 2025. Growing up in a shelter was tough, but it never dimmed Peter’s sweet spirit. Peter and Meg have spent every single day of their lives together and share a truly special bond. They love to play, cuddle, and look out for each other. When Peter suffered a fractured tibia, Meg took on the role of Florence Nightingale, bringing him food, staying close, and always making sure he was okay. That love goes both ways. Peter’s surgery was in March, and he’s now fully healed with no restrictions. He and Meg are having an absolute BLAST zooming around the yard together.  Peter’s Personality: Nicknamed Sweetie Petey Pie, Peter is the definition of a lovebug. He adores belly rubs, snuggles, and being close to his people. He’s a little calmer and less energetic than Meg, but don’t be fooled, he can absolutely keep up when it’s time to play. Peter is curious and goofy, but not quite as confident as Meg. He is a bit nervous and apprehensive in new environments. While having Meg by his side helps to give him the reassurance he needs, Peter and Meg will need an understanding adopter who will allow Peter time to settle in. Peter gives the cutest little “smile” when he’s content with soft eyes and a gentle smirk that will melt your heart and he is such a snuggle bug! Dog Friendly: Yes. Peter loves other dogs Cat Friendly: Unknown. Likely curious but we don't suspect he would harm the cat. Kid Friendly: Kids 10+ would be best. Peter is not at all aggressive, he is actually on the scared/timid side with younger kids. He hasn't quite figured them out and the chaos that accompanies small children can be a little stressful for him. Peter and Meg also have quite a bit of energy and can be jumpy when exicted.  Apartment Friendly: No Fence Requirement: A fenced yard is required Crate Trained: Yes Housebroken: Yes Ideal Home: Peter and Meg are loving life in foster care and discovering all the joys of home living. Comfy couches, walks, toys, and snuggles. Their ideal home is one where they can be included in daily life, whether it’s playtime in the yard, relaxing on the couch, or tagging along for an adventure. They enjoy each other’s company and can entertain themselves, but they also love to be with their humans and foster dog siblings. While they are happiest together, Peter and Meg do just fine with short separations, and their forever family should continue supporting some individual time so they don’t become overly dependent on each other. Peter Loves: Chest and belly rubs, being near his people, playing with Meg, going for walks, and exploring the backyard. Peter loves toys and treats. He is very food motivated and a quick learner! (especially if treats are involved with training!) Dislikes: Peter is serious about mealtime and knows when you're scooping his food. His ears perk up and he can hardly contain his excitement. He does not appreciate extended delays from scoop to serve! (Rude!)  Peter takes some time to adjust in new environments and will need an adopter who is patient and understanding of this. Once Peter is settled in and feels comfortable, you won't believe how much love he has to give. It's truly incredible!  Double the love, double the fun: Meg and Peter are ready to show you just how rewarding adopting a bonded pair can be! Adoption fee is $500 for Peter and Meg as a pair. Fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, flea/heartworm prevention, and heartworm testing (negative if over 6 months). Ready to meet your new best friends? Apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter. Once approved, we’ll schedule a meet-and-greet with this sweet and silly duo! ##2282122##

Story
Dog’s Name: Dasher (Dash)Gender: MaleCurrent Age: 2 yearsCurrent Age Range: Adult (1 year or older)Current Weight: 21 lbsExpected Adult Size: Small (under 25 lbs)Breed: BeagleEnergy Level: Medium-HighDog Friendly: Yes, and can have other dogs in the home or can be an only dog.Cat Friendly: UnknownKids: UnknownApartment Friendly: YesFence Requirements: Physical fence preferred but not required with regular walks/exerciseCrate Trained: Yes for short periods of timePotty Trained: Yes Ideal Home / Adopter: Dasher will do great in a home that can provide him with a lot of attention. We enjoys playing with this foster siblings but also likes to toss toys around and chew bones by himself. He will sleep in this crate at night with his family in the room but he has also been fine sleeping on the bed at night. He has been crated for limited time periods in the day but has been fine staying out with the resident dogs. Likes: Dasher (Dash) is fun and spunky. He love chasing other dogs around the yard and wrestling with them but also can entertain himself when needed. He is settling into the lead of the other other dogs in the house and taking nice long naps when he isn't playing. He got neutered and the weather got really cold right before he came to us some he hasn't had many outside leash walks. Dash has ridden well in the car and walked on a leash in the house. As beagles go, he is relatively quiet and not much of a howler. Dislikes: So far, we haven't run across anything significant that Dash doesn't like. He is aggressive with chewing the noses, tails, and paws off stuffed toys so we've picked up the stuffies for now.  Dash is a great little dog! He's small and easy to pick up but he plays great larger dogs. He is somewhat interested in squirrels in the yard but seems to follow the lead of the other dogs rather than pursuing them on his own. Plus he gives amazing cuddles.  Dash's adoption fee is $350. All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, worming, flea and heartworm current. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. If you are interested in adopting, apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter and a meet & greet can be set up once approved. ##2596121##

Story
Name: Ditto Gender: Female Age: 15 weeks (8/6/25) Current Weight: 21 lbs Expected Adult Size: Medium (25-50 lbs) Breed: Catahoula Mix Energy Level: Medium Dog Friendly: Yes, and can have other dogs in the home or can be an only dog. Cat Friendly: Yes Kid Friendly: Yes Apartment Friendly: Yes Physical Fence Requirement: None Crate Trained: Yes Potty Trained: Not fully potty trained, working on it Ideal Home/Adopter:  Ditto is deaf and will need a family that is willing to adjust their training to her needs. She is already picking up on hand signing. She is being raised in a foster home with dogs, cats, and young kids so she is getting all of her social skills! Likes: Toys, bones, food & playing with other dogs! Dislikes: Being thirsty. When the water bowl is empty. Sometimes she will use her nose to flip it to let you know it needs refilled. She only does it when empty because she also doesn't like a mess.  Ditto has big fabulous ears that serve zero purpose - all cosmetic because she is deaf! She is smart and picking up on hand signal commands, including come and sit. She loves to chew on bones and is the worlds best napper because nothing wakes her up. Ditto is a fun, sweet girl! She is the biggest of her siblings, and LOVES to play with stuff toys and chomp on bones. She's down for a good cuddle, but is even happier to play with you, her toys, or another dog! Somewhat hesitant at first, she is really coming around and learning to be with her people. Also... She also LOVES carrots, she will play with them first but always ends up eating them. Girlie likes her veggies!  Ditto's adoption fee is $400. All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, worming, flea and heartworm current. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. If you are interested in Ditto, apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter and a meet & greet can be set up once approved. ##2589160##
