Story
This is Bepsi. He is a young dog that was found alone in the rain in Northern Manitoba. When he was saved, he was severely injured, with a massive abscess above his right eye. He was taken to the emergency vet, where it was drained and cleaned, but unfortunately he also suffered a fractured skull. It is presumed that he was attacked by a much larger dog. Bepsi is missing the right half of his brain and will be a special needs dog who may have a limited ability to do normal 'dog' things but still deserves all the love. He loves car rides, chewing and baths. He cannot play normal games like fetch or tug of war but put a toy in his mouth and let him spin and he will have a blast. He loves cuddles and playing with other dogs who can be delicate with him. Due to his traumatic brain Injury he obsessively spins and will require special care for the term of his life. He needs reminders sometimes to stop spinning. You can pick him up, hug him, hold him or give him a toy to chew on in bed. He responds to clicking or snapping sounds to help stop spinning or move him forward. Baby gates, supervision and safety protocols are advised. His life span is not suspected to be affected. Weight: ~33lbs Good with men: yesGood with women: yesGood with kids 0-6: noGood with kids 6+: yesGood with dogs: yes, but with supervision because he doesnt have the reflexes or awareness to move out of their way if they are running Good with cats: yes, Cat friends are perfect for him because they can play with him without restraint or worry of sizing or hurting him.House trained: yes, but has frequent incontinence due to traumatic brain damage. Requires diapers or pee pads and frequent potty breaks. Requires consistent skin care to avoid break down or urine burns due to incontinence.Crate trained: yesResource guarding: noWalks on a leash: he gets tangled easily due to spinning, gets exercise by other means.Energy level: lowRequires detached/single home: noSeparation anxiety: cannot be left alone for long term. When he is left alone for short terms, he shows no sign of separation anxiety Barker: lowIdeal Home: someone who works from home or can be home with him throughout the day. Doesnt require much space. Would be a great ride along buddy for a driver or if he could attend work with owner.Medical:Bepsi is missing the right half of his brain and requires special needs care in areas stated above. He may require ongoing medication to assist with relaxing or reduction of spinning.

Story
Chilli is fostered in the Burlington area. Apply to adopt at rebeldogrescue.com*All adoptions with Rebel Dog Rescue have a 15 day probation period. Read about our adoption process on our website.Meet Chilli! This sweet pup was found abandoned, tied to a bench at a park. Hes a sensitive, observant dog who prefers to take life at his own pace. For now, he is more cat-like in nature, as he chooses when to seek affection and does best with people who respect his boundaries. Once he feels safe, he enjoys quiet companionship - curling up nearby, following his people from room to room, and soaking up gentle pets on his own terms (especially during couch time). He would thrive in a calm, experienced home, ideally with another confident dog to show him the ropes. A fenced yard is important so he can safely burn off energy, as he may try to flee if startled. A quieter household suits him best right now.Despite his cautious side, hes a cheeky, intelligent, food-motivated pup who loves chewing, puzzle toys, frozen Kongs, and shredding cardboard. He learns routines quickly, picks up cues easily, and already knows a few basics like lie down and nose targeting. Hes curious, playful in his own way, and full of personality once you get to know him.Hes still building confidence and can get nervous with pressure or overstimulation, so patience and understanding will go a long way. In the right home, hell make a deeply rewarding companion for someone who appreciates a dog that bonds quietly, but genuinely.Name: ChilliBreed: Shepherd mix Age: ~7 months Weight: ~30lb and growing Sex: Male, neutered Colour: Black Medical: No concerns Good with men: Fearful but warms up with time Good with women: Fearful but warms up with time Good with kids 0-6: Unknown, not tested - suggest no Would you be comfortable placing this dog in a home with children? I wouldn't advise it as he is flighty and nervous around fast movement and kids are generally fast, loud and predictable. Even when he does get comfortable, he so far anyway still moves away / evades any approach with intent. When he does get comfortable and playful with his people - he does have a hard mouth and nips you along in play, it's a work in progress but needs balancing with fixing the behaviour while not affecting his positive outlook on people that children may not fully understand. When the dog meets new people he...Will not approach, Shy, Tail tuckedGood with dogs: Yes, enjoys being around and playing with other dogsHow does this dog react to meeting new dogs? Fearful/nervous, SubmissiveWhat type(s) of dogs does this dog prefer/be best with? He would benefit greatly from a happy go lucky confident adult dog that won't push him too hard in the beginning but can lead by example when meeting new people, going to new places etc.Do you suggest this dog has another dog in the home?Yes, I think he would benefit greatly from the right mentor dog.Good with Cats: Yes, lives with cats successfullyCrate training: Enters crate willingly, Settles after some barking/whiningHouse training: Almost perfectly house trained - about 90% thereResource Guarding : None seenWalks on a leash: Nervous and needs coaxing, but walks well. He walks beautifully currently in a natural heel position, possibly out of a desire to be near someone he knows for safety, however does much better when moving. He scans as he walks and can spook at noises etc however it's when you stop moving that he appears more nervous - his tail tucks and he may stop eating. Appears to do better when walked with my confident dog. He has been more consistently able to eat and do his easiest of cues, as well I was able to get mini bouts of play when in the field which is promising!Energy level: Medium - enjoys regular exercise and adventures as well as relaxing calmly in the home. Currently I think there's a lot of mental brain busting going on as he walks and experiences new things so as he gains confidence, we may find his energy levels also increase. He LOVES to play and outplays me in the back garden, however can also overstimulate to barky/nippy play quickly - teenage brains! He does need help settling in the house - more from FOMO than anything else, but if crated / x penned and given a chew project, he will often fall asleep. Sleep is encouraged!Areas to work on: Needs confidence building, Fearful of loud noises, Touch sensitivityWhat type of environments would NOT be suitable for the dog? Condo/apartment, CityAny noted separation anxiety?FOMO when you first leave, some whining / crying. Quietens down when things calm, either you leave and the house is quiet or every settles in the room or in another room when he can't hear or see other commotion in the house.Barker: Average, Dog can be vocal, but not necessarily barking - While playing - occasional spook bark at my partner when surprised. FOMO whines.

*This dog is fostered in Hamilton*Apply to adopt at rebeldogrescue.com*All adoptions with Rebel Dog Rescue have a 15 day probation period. Read about our adoption process on our website. Moonpie is an awesome dog looking for a fresh start at a better life. He is well mannered in his kennel but can bark for attention at times, Moonpie is a bit timid at first and would prefer that you move slow and introduce yourself respectfully. He has had positive interactions off leash with a rambunctious puppy and did very well. Moonpies play style is more reserved than that of a puppy - but he is good at giving small corrections and taking himself out of situations he doesnt feel comfortable in.Once he feels comfortable (which happens fairly quickly) he appreciates affection and listens well. Moonpie initially came to us when we seized a large number of dogs from a hoarding case. It is unlikely that he had training in his early life so his foster is working with him on leash and basic skills The ideal adopter will continue with training to let MoonPie shine! The first part of his life has been hectic and hard - MoonPie is ready to start his next chapter. Name: Moonpie Breed: Pointer mix Age: ~1.5 years Weight: ~50lbSex: Male, neutered Colour: White Medical: No concerns Good with men: Yes, but shy and warms up quicklyGood with women: Yes, but shy and warms up quicklyGood with kids 0-6: Unknown, not testedGood with kids 7-15: Unknown, not tested but presume yes to kids 10+When the dog meets new people, he: Approaches cautiously, Approaches in a neutral manner, Shy, Does not want to interact at first, but warms upGood with dogs: Yes, happy to co-exist with other dogsHow does this dog react to meeting new dogs? Loose body language, Neutral - will say hello nicely, Avoidant, Needs slow introductionsWhat type(s) of dogs does this dog prefer/be best with? Moonpie has interacted well with different play styles but would prefer a dog that can respect his need for space at first. He would do well with an outgoing but mellow dog that would come say ' Hi! ' from time to time - but could also give him the time he needs to acclimate to his new environment.Good with Cats: NoCrate training: Enters crate with coaxing, Settles after some barking/whining Amazing overnight in crate House training: YesResource Guarding: None seenWalks on a leash: Walks well, Nervous and needs coaxingEnergy level: Medium Areas to work on: Needs confidence building, Fearful of loud noisesWhat type of environments would NOT be suitable for the dog? Not sure if an apartment/condo would be the right fit due to barking. Any noted separation anxiety? No, but he does like to bark for attention at times.Barker: Average-High What would be the ideal home for this dog?Moonpie would love to live in a home that could offer him low foot traffic of new people / a home on the quieter side / but also a home that offers him plenty of opportunity for socialization and adventures. He could use a confident and easy going dog to open him up and show him the ropes.

*This dog is fostered in the Hamilton area*Apply to adopt at rebeldogrescue.com*All adoptions with Rebel Dog Rescue have a 15 day probation period. Read about our adoption process on our website. She is a sweet 3-5 year old brown with some black Pomeranian mix who weighs 12lbs. When Juliette meets new people she is a tad shy and takes time to warm up. She needs time to gain trust and feel comfortable in her surroundings. Then she would just love to snuggle with her person - she really loves her people! She was rescued from a hoarding situation where she and 7 other Pom mixes were left in a garage without walks or other basic TLC - and every day she comes out of her sweet shell a bit more. She enjoys the company of other dogs but definitely prefers people (once she warms up). We are not sure about cats. She would have to meet them and we do not have any at the ranch where she is - she does not have much prey drive though. She does very well in a crat and we are watching how she does in the house - so far no messes. She does need a potty schedule to set her up for success as she doesnt bark or go to the door when she has to go. She needs work with leash walking but she does her best, and is ok to be carried but can be squirmy if she is afraid. She does love to snuggle in blankets and in a bed. She needs the right family to accept her and show her affection and a good life. We have not seen her interact with young kids and we would not recommend a home with them as she is still a little timid and we don't want her overwhelmed. A calm home where people have patience and lots of love to give would be perfect for her. Juliettes 1-Month Foster Update After one month in her foster home, Juliette has truly begun to blossom. What started as a shy newcomer has revealed a playful, joyful pup even braving the snow to show off her zoomies! She loves to run, toss in the occasional jump, and classic puppy play bows that are impossible not to smile at.But Juliettes heart is just as big as her playful spirit. She is incredibly affectionate and bonds deeply with her people. When her favourite humans come home, she greets them with happy whines, full-body excitement, and lots of sweet kisses the kind of welcome that instantly melts away a long day.Juliette is ready for a forever home where she can keep growing, loving, and sharing her gentle, joyful nature. Shes the kind of dog who doesnt just live in your house she fills it with warmth. Story
*This dog is fostered in the GTA*All adoptions with Rebel Dog Rescue have a 15 day probation period. Read about our adoption process on our website.Stag and his littermate were found tied to a park bench. They were brought to a local shelter, and were rescued. Stag is a very sweet, smart, lovable boy. He has good food drive, has learned 'wait' for his food, his recall is improving (in the yard) and his housetraining is improving everyday. Stag enjoys the company of people, and loves to cuddle on the couch. He is generally quiet in his crate, provided he has had opportunity to burn off his puppy energy. He is fearful of loud noises/new environments, particularly on walks, and so will need a leader that will help him learn about the world. He is making progress every day! He is not reactive to dogs on walks, but is a bit nervous when dogs bark at him. His ideal home would be in a quieter area. He would also do best in a house with a yard, as he enjoys racing around and could do great with other backyard activities like playing with a flirt-pole. He needs a home where they will provide ongoing structure, socialization to new people/environments, and training so he can be the best boy.Stag Update from His Foster Mom After about two weeks in foster care, Stag is really starting to come out of his shell and show off his goofy, lovable personality. Hes still a bit nervous and cautious, but hes making progress every single day and its been so rewarding to watch.Stag conquered the stairs for the very first time and hes becoming more confident exploring his surroundings at his own pace. He absolutely loves romping around the backyard and has so much fun when he feels safe and comfortable. Walks are still a work in progress, as he remains quite nervous outside, but were taking things slow and letting him build confidence. Were also thrilled to share that Stag hasnt had any accidents in about a week hes doing great with his house training! Hes very food- and toy-motivated, which has been a huge help with learning and bonding.Stag is truly such a good boy, and with the right adopter someone patient and understanding he is going to grow into an absolutely amazing dog . This sweet pup has so much potential and so much love to give. He just needs the right home to help him continue to blossom Name: StagBreed: Shepherd mix Age: ~7 months Weight: ~30lb and growing Sex: Male, neutered Colour: Black Medical: No concerns Good with men: Yes, but shy and warms up quicklyGood with women: YesGood with kids 0-6: Unknown, not testedGood with kids 7-15: Yes, has lived with children and does well - Stag is very people orientated and does well with children, overall. He now typically will want to quickly return to the affection/play. Aggressive or fear based behaviours not observed. He shows a lot of respect to my XL senior lab, who does not enjoy being jumped on. They can calmly co-exist, with some structure to ensure Stag does not get too unruly. He attempts to initiate play more with my younger resident Husky. Will respond to correction from her if his play style is too much.
